Everyone seems to get excited by movie/tv/music themed slots but besides that, what attracts you to try a machine? Lights? Colors? Music? Theme?

In my pre-trip frenzy I checked out some videos on YouTube. So many people seem to play the same machines. Not sure I’ve ever seen videos of some of the ones I enjoy, although I see them in many casinos. I really enjoy Hot Roll for the dice action. There is one I search for called Hell’s Bells because the bonus round plays The Squirrel Nut Zapper’s Hell song. I once got hooked on some obscure roller coaster machine because it plays the old song Roller Coaster of Love. I’m one of those people who gets freaked out by clowns. Once in a while I see a clown themed machine and feel the need to play a bit or that freaky thing will come to my room at night and take what’s left of my bankroll. I played Hex Breaker once because I was having horrible luck and actually had a slight turn around.

If it's a progressive, I'll look at the minor jackpot amounts... If they are decent then I'll sit down and play.

If it's a standard 3x5 video slot - usually aristocrat - I'll look at the paytables and see if there's a big multiplier involved. Those are attractive to me.

It's usually a matter of weeding out or avoiding slots - anything with seizure inducing lights, TV** show themes, most Chinese slots, stupid/cheap looking animations.. Those are no-go for me.

**oddly enough, I'm fine with movie themed slots as long as they are not recent films

I like the progressives. I also love the Michael Jackson slots. If it has good music, I like that as well. I also gravitate toward the Buffalo ones also

I LOVED that one with Roller Coaster of Love. That was a good game.
For me it is the bonus games. I love The Voice slot. Don't watch the show. Love Game of Thrones slot.. never seen the show. Lord of the Rings.. one of my goals in life is to never watch it.. The Harley slot is pretty good.. not my thing at all in real life.

I will play any of the 88c games with the progressives. They are all the same to me.. I can't actually tell them apart. Anything that lights up and gives you a chance.. interchangeable and like em all.

At this point in time, minimum bets less than 50 cents.

Gotta be something where I can play max bet under $10. The only slot machine I play is when the frau is playing as well. Actually, there is one slot machine at the SHR that I've played by myself and collected on:

I'll usually wander over to any ancient Egypt or ancient Rome and at least take a look. Space, dragons and board games I played as a child too.

For me, first is familiarity. Like a tv show or a movie.

Second is music. I love playing Pharoahs' Fortune to hear Walk Like An Egyptian. Or Money Roll to hear (can't remember that song's name, something about I've got a feeling going my way). Or any MJ slot to hear any of his songs.

That's Cash Coaster and it is AWESOME! For an older title, you can still find it at a lot of casinos. I guess a lot of people (us included) still play it.

i'm not a big slot player, so that means i play what catches my eye.. So themed slots are big.. my favorite is the Wonka slots. I like the 3 reel, but will play any of them. Simpsons, Flintstones, even Britney haha..

I also like the straight forward nature of the Green Machine.

I did enjoy this one Wizard slot at the Luxor. I don't know if its still around. But it was fun to hear the song playing during the bonus... just put me in a good mood haha. i found a video on youtube of it.

Im sort of like a child...I like dings and dongs (not those kind) and bright lights and loud sounds (max sound or GTFO!). I use to play lots and lots of poker but that was just boring and most of the time not social and I cant sit that long because I just need to feel relaxed hence I play slots/VP a lot more in my mid 30s then I ever did in my 20s.

I got a pretty big slot boner when I found out Brady Bunch (love it) had a slot and even a huger slot boner when I saw there was a Seinfeld slot which I am def an ultra-fan of so looking forward to locating/playing next month when in LV.

I am more of a simpleton. I like basic reel slots, but with some kind of bonus. Top Dollar is my favorite right now.

I play mostly VP, but when I get bored playing VP I switch over and play some slots. I like the Buffalos, Top Dollar, and Lightning Strike is the latest one that I played for the first time on my last trip. Some of those penny slots can get mind boggling at times with the number of spin, coin-in combinations, etc. that you have to be careful. If you accidental hit max bet, you may end up betting more per spin than on the dollar machines. LOL

Usually anything that doesn't look like it's a mixture of just numbers and letters.

The 2 times I hit a hand pay on Stinkin' Rich, it played "OH that smell" by Lynard Skyner (sp?)

I like Buffalo, Lightning Strike, Top dollar, Ten Times, Double Diamond and Wild Cheries. The most fun that I ever had playing a slot machine was playing Ted at Aria but in June I couldn't find it anywhere in Aria. Venetian also had Ted. I find a lot of the newer video slot machines very confusing and disorienting. I find myself gravitating towards VP more and more.

To more specifically answer the OP's question I am attracted to games with bonus features and multipliers. For real slots I prefer the ones with multiple ways to win as opposed to just three across on the middle line.

I like playing video slots purely for their entertainment value. Even though these slots have a worse payback than the standard reel slots I just find them a lot more entertaining and don’t mind giving up a little more in payback % to play these slots. Wonka, Flintstones, Dancing Drums, Austin Powers, Sphinx, Animal House and Ted are among my faves.

I’ll admit there’s a dichotomy in my approach to my casino gambling. While I’m very picky about the type of BJ games I play I don’t mind playing the video penny slots. For about 30 years I didn’t play slots at all but a couple of years ago I started playing a little bit and now I’d say 90% of my play is on slots. I guess I’m just a sucker for the fun bonus rounds and the absolute mindlessness that these games require. My average win/loss per trip is the same as when I strictly played BJ and I’ve found I have a helluva lot more fun at the slots and generate boatloads more in comps than when I grinded at table games.

I’d love to see a “Blazing Saddles” themed slot.
