Water immersion heater. This will boil water in a few minutes. I have my own travel mug that I use it in. Like Sonya, I throw in a few Via packets. You have to be careful with these because you'll blow the fuse if you don't follow instructions and then it's finished. I also have a 2 cup coffee maker that works fine, but the immersion heater is so much smaller. I've had a $20 model from a travel store and an $8 one I picked up I think at Bed Bath & Beyond. Same thing.

Aaaaand, this is the low point hospitality has sunk to. In a town of world-class resorts, we're actively discussing which coffee maker is best to lug with us, and how leftover prime rib can be reheated with a hair dryer.

But notfromconcentrate, what makes a vacation world class is having what you want, when you want it, without having to pay! :D

To be fair, you are paying for it. Both directly (buying a compact coffee machine) and indirectly (with space taken up in your suitcase that may force you to check your bag or bring another one).

I realize that it gives you the ability to have exactly what you want when you want it. But being able to make coffee and reheat your food are perfectly normal things to want, and the needed equipment like coffee makers and microwaves were once standard hotel amenities for that very reason.

Forcing guests (who conceivably have these needs) to take care of this themselves is anything but world class, IMO.

Guests need to get up to their rooms too. On that same thinking, why offer elevators? You can bring your own running shoes to go up the stairs, can't you? Then you can have what you want when you want it because you never have to wait for an elevator.

    ... SO world-class!

And more importantly, without having to put clothes on or being able to talk.

I hear what you're saying. I'm going to say that what I bring is not an extra burden. I drive, so weight and suitcase limits don't apply, but I've flown with mine too. It's small. Maybe 6-7" tall in a bag. It's not this one, but it's pretty close to this one - https://amzn.to/2INCAce And it was a gift from my sister, so it was free to me! :D We keep the via packets on hand for power outage coffee, so I just throw a few in the bag and I'm ready to go.

When I've gone full degenerate mode, it's worth it to me to have it to not have to deal with waiting for room service to bring an overpriced pot of coffee, or putting on pants to make the hungover trek downstairs and deal with people before caffeine.

That said, I wish all hotels provided a keurig, but they don't. Which brings us back to your point about world-class resorts. ;)

Many times I have used the hairdryer to warm up food.Easy..Just keep it on low and cover the box with hand towels where the air is escaping.Your own convection oven..I'll do this at the Rio where the sportsbook deli closes at 11 or so..I'll get the food to the room beforehand and drink some more up in the room or play downstairsand it's there at 2 am or whenever..
I'll be bringing a cup at a time coffee maker also next trip..best I've ever had at home was a black and decker. It's small and really no problem to pack...

What we really need is a bunch of other coffee users before dressing to create some viral videos of standing in line at Starbucks at 7 am in all states of undressedness mixed in with the convention crowds..And let's do this at the Rio while they still have conventions going on!!...I'll do it wearing nothing but sneakers and underwear and a sign taped on my back "No Coffee maker in room :{ but resort fees still alive and brewing"....Wondering how this would fly with security, sure as hell do not want to be kicked out.

I drink a 12-cup pot of coffee a day (decaf). I go for 2 weeks. That's 12x14 or 168 cups of coffee. I don't spend $400+ on coffee. I take filters with me. I stop at Walmart and pick up a coffee maker ($10), a bag of good decaf coffee ($10), a pint of milk ($1), and a box of Sw&Low ($3). So, for $25 bucks I'm set for the 2 weeks. I take the extra coffee supplies home in my bag and leave the coffee maker for the maid. I've been doing this for years.

I’m actually in a hotel room, reading this, drinking coffee made with my new Gourmia electric kettle, which is actually collapsible and doesn’t take much room to pack. As Sonia already said, Starbucks Via Instant.

I have been using a Black and Decker one cup maker for years. No glass pot, and a washable filter. Uses single packets, so I pack those with some disposable cups. It takes up little space in the carry on. Part of my vacays are enjoying several cups while putzing in the room planning my day/watching the news. I do NOT enjoy going down for 3 different cups in the morning OR waiting for overpriced room service that grows cold after the first cup. Just me....

I bought a 1 cupper years ago at a closeout store.
Comes in a little zipper bag, plastic coffee maker, plastic cup. little plastic container for coffee, creamer, tea bags, etc... and a reusable filter.
Great for coffee or just hot water for tea, oatmeal,. etc...
I take it every time I stay at MSS.
    Best purchase EVER!

Bringing a coffee maker is a MUST on any trip with my Mom.
She needs in room coffee so she can LEAVE the room.

Walmart has a single serve maker that uses either k-cups or you can use ground coffee.
$20 and it's really small to travel with.

    https://www.walmart.com/ip/Mainstays-Single-Serve-K-Cup-and-Brew-Coffee-Maker-Black/908118634

We left ours at Harrah's to make room for all the new clothes my Mom bought at Ross.

PLEASE be aware that taking powdered coffee creamer such as CoffeeMate will get your bag yanked for additional screening.
Of course I was not aware of this and the offending items were at the very bottom of the bag.
Nothing like having every single item pulled out of your luggage and scanned then rescanned multiple times.
ALSO, my hands were swabbed for explosives residue.
    Nice, right?

You can also buy individual packs of instant coffee (Starbucks makes them too) and a portable
imersion heater, which is small. Just don't forget a coffee cup, since glass/plastic won't work well. 25681811091717p.jpg

There an individual "drip" type with the cone filter you can use with the coffee you like, and the individual holder I think Melitta is the common brand name. I've done this using the immersion heater. One of my coworkers used to make a fresh cup for himself in the afternoon using microwaved hot water. It takes practice, though, if you are not used to pouring stuff slowly into the cone. Once you get it right, it makes great coffee.

On occasions, I will pack a 1liter electric kettle along with a 6pk of instant expresso and tea bags....the electric kettles also come in .5 liter size (Bodums ?) if you are looking for a smaller size...it's nice to have a hot beverage in your room without having to go down to the lobby in the AM...

I don't drink coffee...but i do like a morning beverage. So i stop by Walmart and pick up a cooler and a 12 pack of Bud light (sophisticated drinker that I am) and i am set for the trip. No hot water required!
