    Had two bets today.

France v Switzerland 3 or more goals in game.
Ecuador v Honduras 3 or more goals in game.
    Germany win.
    Bosnia win.

    £20 returns £170.

    Also:

France win and both teams to score, Ecuador win and both teams to score, Belgium win and both teams to score, Portugal win and both teams to score.

    £5 returns £1000.

Bottom parlay looks promising. Russia and the Us have trouble scoring at times. May want to hedge a bit on both of those angles

USA had a good result today.

I am surprised the announcers or studio hosts did not mention how poorly Tim Howard played that first goal.

He should have just stood there and make himself as big as possible. Instead he fell to the ground and gave the shooter an open net.

I expected more from one of the top goalkeepers in the world.

Jw i agree.....the first goal should have never happened.....

I still feel the US missed an opportunity and I feel it's going to cost them...let's see if I'm right

Sorry, I could have been more clearer in my meaning. I only bet which teams would win their groups. No way would I bet a wild thing like win the world cup. I know diddly about soccer and I have no idea who the good players are or who the good teams are other than the two hours I spent studying before I went out there to make a bet.

I learned from my pro football and college football betting to never bet something like who the national champ or super bowl champ will be. I lost way too much money trying to hit those home runs.

I bet on which team to win their group. Unfortunately I did not bet Colombia, I said Colombia had the easiest chance to do it because their group is not very good.

germany has a history to "play it smart" the 3rd game.
however it's the US they play and it's not much to fear for them.

I think you have little to fear from Germany, a draw would make sure they finish first in the group, and they effectively kick out Ghana and Portugal, on paper 2 stronger opponents than team USA

The coach of Germany is good friends with USA coach Klinsmann. There will probably be some sort of wink and nod to have the game be a draw so they both advance.

It would not shock me if there was some sort of conversation between to two of them before the game about this.

A good bet would be a draw in this match.

Even if the US loses it is likely they advance due to goal differential. They are in a good spot.

Exactly, I don't think the Portugal-Ghana would be a 3-0 or 0-3 game so even a small loss would be sufficient..
When the score is 0-0/1-1 after 65-70 mins it will be a boring last 20 mins, but I'd rather have USA progress than Ghana/Portugal, who I rate a bit higher, even though the results speak in favor of team USA

Just googled the google, very funny, my boss is a huge football supporter as well,so during the WC2010 in South Africa,we just closed the office for 2 hours to watch football..
Luckily for us the games are played in the evening at this WC

USMNST is a weak team. On the ball (technique) they are one of the worst teams in the tournament.
But they are quick. Klinsmann has one chance in this game, and he know exactly what it is. Mertesacker is SLOW. That is the weakness of germany.
He showed it in the EPL and already in this tournament vs ghana.
Under normal circumstances this is a 2+ goal difference win for germany.
We can speculate what both coaches discuss. However, after 1982 the german public is very aware of collusive behaviour. They dont want to see it EVER again.
The best two teams in this group are ghana and germany.

My current favourite for the tournament has now switched to Holland. They have a winnable game vs Mexico in round of 16, followed by a QF vs most likely Costa Rica or Ivory Coast, again very winnable.

Not been overly impressed by Brazil or Argentina though. France however have looked good (Granted though, their opposition has not been that strong).

The common opinion here in Holland is that we have a very good chance, but with ugly football (not the ''Dutch school'').
However we never won anything (apart for Euro '88) with beautiful football so I'll take it..

It's funny that it seems The Dutch and The Germans traded football styles.

Well, if your club needs a world class striker (with a few, um, issues) I'm sure Messrs. Rodgers and Henry might be offering one on the cheap in the not so distant future!
