    My Trip Report

I knew this was going to be a good trip, when I realized that my wife’s new sneakers, jacket, and the folder I had all the reservations and trip stuff in, were all purple. From reading Sir Flushers trip reports, I knew it was the luckiest color. I tried getting my wife to buy a purple thong, but something about me having to wear them killed that idea. She said she had some purple socks and panties that she would bring, so they would have to do.

I waited for SW to run a black Friday or cyber Monday sale, but nothing came up worth buying. I found tickets with United non stop from Cleveland, for $262. But the plane was almost full so we couldn’t pick seats, and a red eye home, but ended up fine we got econo plus on the way out, and exit row coming back.

I found a deal on a rental from Firefly, $127 for seven days. The first car they gave me had a low coolant light come on, before we even left. So I went back up and they switched me to a Ford Focus and cut $10 off my bill, sweet first win of the trip. This was the fastest I ever got a rental, even with having to switch cars. No line, no pressure to up sell or buy ins, fuel ect. I will use them again if the price is right.

First stop was Ellis Island for breakfast with a BOGO coupon, the ham steak was huge and grilled with a little char, it was perfect. I lost a few twenty’s on quarter VP, before switching to nickel triple play, where I recouped some of my money. But my wife was up on slots, so she made up for me losing.

Our first two nights were at Four Queens on a buy one get one free offer, this was the only room we paid for @ $25, for the trip. I got them to throw in a fun book, and we got a south tower room.

We played most of the day there, only leaving to go too the D for dinner (we had $10 each in food comp.) and use our free play.

I pretty much lost all day, even resorting to penny wof to get drinks at the end of the night. My wife on the other hand was winning, and just to piss me off, she would sit down next to me on VP, show me her cash out tickets, hit a quad and leave. We ended the day down $30 combined (that included meals), I won’t admit how much I lost, but I should get better offers from Four Queens for our next trip.

Thursday we hit the D first, we both had two $5 match plays, we hit three out of four on BJ. Then hit Magnolias for breakfast with a coupon from the fun book. We played at Four Queens and Fremont a bit, where I finally got a good run on a Texas Tea machine, just over $300 before cashing out.

Having never been to LVH or Riviera, we headed to LVH first. They offer $5 free play plus another $5 if you give them a cell # they can send texts too. I gave them a fake # for both of us. Neither of us liked the place much, just to big and empty.
Then we hit the Riv. Got our free t-shirts and the $30 in chips for $20, The plan was to play BJ but the tables were packed even the $10 one. So we bet outside bets on roulette, and we did great up $35 combined.

We had the ribs for dinner at Ellis Island, I thought it was the best meal of the trip. And again my wife won on slots and I lost on VP.

Back downtown we headed over to the Grand to check it out, I got $3 in free play and my wife got $86 and turned it into $175 cash.

Both of us were pretty much bored with the place fast, my wife didn’t like their slots and since I generally play VP, there’s not much to get me back. Since my wife’s coin in was high, I imagine we should get some kind of offer. If its right (free and free play) we would try them again. But otherwise, not much reason to walk there from FSE.

Friday morning we planned to hit MSS and the Cal, but my wife was winning at Fremont so we stayed there most of the morning. After checking out at four Queens, we headed to Aria for one night. (my Vegas) They let us check in before 1pm, great room on the tenth floor, so not much of a view.

But it was quiet, and the nicest room of the trip. We had their buffet for lunch ( my Vegas) neither of us are foodies so even thou it was good, not sure it would be worth paying for.

After a nap we headed to Cosmo to do their $100 new player deal, had a blast, great drink service and very nice eye candy. My wife lost her $100 pretty fast, even thou I didn’t get any quads my $100 lasted a long time playing double bonus @ .25 and .50 Then after I started on my free play I hit quads on DB then went to the sports bar I think, and had ordered a beer before I realized I couldn’t use the free play there so I slipped in a twenty and hit a quad. We played 4-5 hours and ended up down a combined 15 bucks so with drinks it was a win. We played a bit at Aria, but hit the room early.

Saturday morning we took the tram to Bellagio, to check out the conservatory. My wife loved their Christmas display.

After a little play we checked out, and hit Mirage for their buffet. (my Vegas) My wife preferred this to Arias, but I thought they were about the same. But I don’t really care for buffets, I eat to much, and the food is generally bland. But my wife loves them, so we eat at a lot of them.

Saturday night was at MGM, (my Vegas) in a west tower room. Weirdest ass room I’ve ever been in with the bathroom at the entrance, and the glass doors on the shower and toilet.

They had sent an e-mail with a $17 upgrade to my wife, but we never saw it till we were home. There was some hassle getting a smoking room, but it was free so not a big deal. Long ass haulways and no view, in the smallest room I’ve ever had, so even free, I wouldn’t stay in west tower again.

We went to KA that night, we both loved it. (my Vegas)The stage is amazing, its hard to believe that it was even better before they changed the ending. I thought it was almost as good as Love, my wife thought it was much better.

We played lions share a bit, but didn’t hit much of anything.

I looked for the 10’s or better machine that was talked about on here, but someone was on it. So I played another machine and hit one quad.

Then was able to move to the 10’s mach. I played a long time on it, but never really got anything. We both ended up losing more at MGM then we wanted, but we had fun.

Sunday morning we hit MSS for BOGO breakfast buffet, I hit a few quads and my wife did well on slots so it was a nice visit.

Then we went to Silverton’s for our last three days, all free and we both had free play and small food comp’s. Things kinda blurred together here, might have been the drinks. But I finally started winning, the bar top bonus VP pays better than the one I mostly played. But it gave me 18 quads and a straight flush. So I stuck with it. And the CW’s had slutty Santa outfits on, so all the more reason not to sit at the bar.

I also hit a senior drawing (50+) for $150 in free play, that I turned into $125 cash. Got tipped $100 for hitting hard 8’s three times. Won $120 on roulette, and hit seven quick hits on free play for about $186, but in the end we gave it all back. I was sure my lucky VP machine, was going to give me a royal.

All in the trip only cost about $2200, for two people for seven days. I was happy with that, early in the trip it was looking like a loser. If any one else does the Cosmo new player deal, check your e-mail the next day. We both got two free passes to wicked spoon, but it went to my spam so I didn’t see it till we were home. Thanks for reading and hopefully we’ll be back in April.

Almost forgot the best part, Monday morning watching the Wagner’s news show, calling for a high of 70f, then seeing City of Erie, Pa.(we live a little west of there) plow trucks pushing two foot of snow off the roads. While I plan to wear shorts…..BIG WIN

Thanks for the great trip report! What a fun week. It is always a bonus when one of us is losing and the other makes up the losses. Of course it's even better when we both win!

    Nice report. Thanks for sharing!

Where was the 10's or better machine at MGM? I didn't see one, and a slot attendant assured me that they haven't had one in years.

Very nice report. You can't put a price tag on wearing shorts in the middle of Winter while home town is below freezing. But I would put it in the ballpark of $500 a day.

Nice report, and thanks for all the pictures. Several timely quads, with the "Kings" appearing regularly.

You mention a few times about your play, and your wife's play, and who might get offers from some of that play. My wife and I always carry two cards each for all of the properties we visit. Sometimes, we both play on my cards, and sometimes, we both play on her cards. Doing that helps us to have a higher amount of a day's play at certain properties, resulting in one of us, here & there, getting better offers.

We never received offers while we were still in town, we’ll check from now on. I liked December weather wise and less crowds, but we go whenever we can line a trip up.
    Thanks for reading.

Funny you mention that, this was the first trip we played on one card. I'm interested to see how the offers change. Except Silverton's, every time we tried the machine wouldn't accept the second card.

I didn't have my phone with me this trip, so I only got pics if my wife was with me or I had our camera. So I didn't get pics of all my quad hits.
    Thanks for reading.

Super fun and lively TR. It's not often you hear the husbands say their wife likes buffets better than they do. Not the case at my house, she would be fine without ever going to one again I think.

Thanks for the stories GL in April
