2 people on the same card?

I suspect this is done a lot, but want to get some details before I ruin my comps by trying it. Can 2 people play on the same card at the same time?

My wife rarely plays enough to get anything. She hates losing money, but she does play about an hour or 2 of BJ every day. I would like to capture her play to raise my ADT, but will doing this flag something or is it even allowed?

 

Do it all the time on my Total Rewards card.

 

Ms Gecko and I are of the opinion that you're probably better off using separate player cards. The point totals should end up the same, but you're more likely to each receive room offers that will add up more than you might have gotten on a single card. We don't see any downside of using separate cards.

 

Depends on what, and how much you play.

If table games, some pit bosses will question it.

If slots, no problem.

If table games, and her play is less than what they even bother to rate, then???

 

My wife and I stick to just one card (Boyd), in fact there are 3 of us using 1 card on the annual trip we take my Mother. They both play machines with my Mom playing + 5 hours/day of $.25 VP. I play craps, 4-5 sessions per day. Neither one of them would take a trip without me and I get in at least one trip a year without the wife. It works well for me.

 

Most of our play is at Boyd and we both play on my card. We now have started to use just my card at all the other casinos downtown. Yes, we only get offers in my name, but as long as we're comped at MSS, it doesn't really matter.

 

I am not sure how this would work on a table. Machines, of course, no problem, no one is checking. But I can't imagine sitting down and giving two cards with the same name to the pit boss to rate play. Or would you just ask them to combine your play to rate it?

 

I should have stated that my wife plays no table games. When we play on the same card it is VP. Craps is the only table game I play and she wants no part of it.

Oh, then it is absolutely fine. If she wins big though, have her pull out your card, lol.

Whenever I have people join us on a trip, and I get their rooms, then I ask them to play with my card. I have had five people playing on my card at the same time at CET casinos. They don't go often enough anyway to make it worthwhile to have their own card, so it just adds onto mine. I wouldn't do it however, if I wasn't there. My ADT would go down too much

I am not sure how this would work with offers however. Some people have posted that even though their spouse/partner/significant other/WHATEVER don't gamble much, when they plug their number into the reservation as a companion they get much better deals. Maybe someone else could address that better than I.

If you use the search function there are actually quite a few threads on the topic that will detail the pros and cons of putting all your play on one card.

My thought would be:
If your wife's play is pretty small overall and combining it with your play isn't enough to move you up to a higher tier level then you are actually probably better off leaving her play on her own card.

The reasoning there is: if her play is small then adding it to yours probably isn't going to have that much of an impact on what you get as far as comps and offers go - its not like the system is so fine tuned to detail that a few bucks here or there added to your ADT has a significant impact.

However, by having her own play on her own card it would instead strengthen her position as a companion cardholder... so your actual offers would stay the same, but your comps would probably improve.

 

On VP at Boyd, a handpay is automatically recorded when it hits and so is the card number. No need to call attendant, they just show up and get SS#.
Now if we only predict when that "big" win happens. For a time I would pull my card anytime I was dealt 4 to a Royal. Never got one when I did that.

Not saying it's related, but you know gamblers and superstitions.

 

What do you do if you hit a hand-pay with your wife or your mother's (or anyone s) card in the system and they come in expecting to see Mrs. Elaine Johnson but instead see Mr. Bob Curley? Do you still get paid? Do you get reported to the authorities? IRS? Jail?

 

We get paid. They really just want that SS# for the IRS and really don't care whose card was in the machine.

 

I don't think they care about the card in the machine at that point, just that you are the person who was playing the machine and won. I think legally they would have to pay you, as well. I once was playing a machine and I thought it had "broken." Well, it had -- it did lock up. But I got up to move along when I suddenly realized that I had actually hit a win that it didn't pay me at the moment it locked up. So I turned around and went back to the machine and called for an attendant (it was a several hundred dollar win). When they came I told them what had happened and they said "OKay, just a minute" and disappeared. After a little bit they came back and paid me and fixed the machine. I realized later they must have gone to check the security footage to make certain I was telling the truth about getting up, leaving, then coming back. LOL! Whatever -- it was the truth and I did get paid. And my point is they have ways of checking who was sitting there playing and that's what matters. Someone could have left their card in the machine, for that matter, and you came along and started playing. I see people all the time in Vegas going from machine to machine and never putting their own player's card in the machine.

 

This has happened twice to my wife at main street station using my card. The first time since i was already on record they came out with the W2G with my SS number and her name, since we file jointly anyway it was not a problem. The second time they offered to get her her own card, she declined and continued to use mine with no problems.

 

When I go to book a room, they always ask me for my husbands card too. I think it works out the same as if she played on your card. My husbands play is always less than mine. I would not want him bringing my average down by playing on my card.

 

It shouldn't even matter if you're using a card. After all, I've never seen a sign stating "No card – no payout!"

 

No, you are not REQUIRED to have a card. It just is used to begin the process. I have won on my wifes card. By time somebody gets there, I give them mine. Once they showed up with a W2-G in her name. I just signed it anyways and did not say anything.

 

It doesn't but at MSS, if you don't have the card, you don't get a scratch card. Just talking 4oak, not jackpots. But you also get a scratch card with a hand pay.

Now that's not to say you played and didn't have your card in that you just couldn't pull it out later from your wallet/purse. But you do need one to get the scratch card.

 

I was just rambling – I ALWAYS use my card, even when I know I won't be playing very long. (I just can't get into all that agonizing "stuff" about lowering one's average rating, as if one short session is going to alter the universe all that much.) Yep, you're right; they always asked to see my card at MSS before giving me a scratch card. Heck, I even won $2 on one of them!
