Tourist Traps

I have NO PROBLEM with buying bottled water from a guy on the street.......we actually look for them on the bridges......they only charge $1 per bottle and they are ice cold.....but of course I make sure it's a SEALED bottle of water he hands me and "I" open it for myself.......beats paying $2.50 per bottle...and BTW the bottles of water you get at a casino while playing are REAL SMALL bottles (compared to 1 litre bottles) and are sometimes not available when you are ready to walk the strip......

 

OH, I almost forgot my "TOURIST TRAP RIP OFF"............Las Vegas CAB DRIVERS....

 

I have NEVER heard of this in Vegas. I don't think its any different to any major city in the pickpockets front.. take normal precautions and you'll be fine.


now had you been talking about the tourist areas in Rome or Barcelona I'd accept it - but not Vegas.

C'mon, we don't need facts to get in the way of a good story.

 

I do the same thing. I don't think anyone is good enough to pick my wallet while I am holding on to it.

I've won on them a few times. Not large amounts of money - only $200.
And as mentioned earlier they are good for snapping photos. They sure
do seem to attract a crowd for some reason. Still fun to play sometimes.

 

I have to disagree. It was fine for a one-time visit, and boggles the mind that it's situated in a desert. Price was reasonable and it was soothing and serene. And not everybody is in San Diego. Some of us on the board visit Vegas primarily. Your suggestion would make more sense if you were listing other aquarium options in the same city, like Silverton or Rush Tower Golden Nugget.

 

A Razor Sharp Knife? I have a problem with this statement. I doubt an individual who's a common pick pocket is
willing to risk being arrested for assault with a deadly weapon. I can't see a pro taking that kind of a chance.
I could be wrong but this conjures up too many unforeseen variables for someone who wants to go unnoticed.

For you guys go to Fossil and buy a Slim Card Case (it's an ultra thin wallet) and keep it in your front pocket.

 

I usually don't carry cash in my wallet. Cash goes in a money clip in the front pocket. If I'm lucky the clip is too small and then I need a rubber band.

 

.. i love the mandalay bay aquarium ..! pretty exotic in terms of aqua life, small yet, but great views, tunnel tube .. then again, i am biased .. i just love animals and water life ..i've visited the dolphin habitat at mirage multiple times just because of the wild life ..

Giant weak drinks in: Bones, guitars, towers, yards... etc

Always young twenty-somehing ******y kids on their first trip to Vegas. Carrying a giant drink strapped around their neck somehow gives them a reason to act like an ass.

 

Avoid the timeshare offers no matter what they are offering.

 

I agree! We went in March and really enjoyed it! I also believe that it took longer than 10 minutes to see it all! It was pretty enjoyable to see all the animals and especially the end with the tank where you are basically in the center of it and have the sharks swimming above, below and around you. I would highly recommend it to everyone. Also, the price was (to me) Las Vegas reasonable.

 

CSI experience at MGM was a complete waste of time and money. No real interactive experiences, just a 10 minute walk around looking at pretend bones and bodies.

For the price I paid, I didn't think that the MB Aquarium was actually that bad. Doesn't help if there's screaming kids everywhere, but there was a fair bit to see.

 

It's a YMMV situation. I completely agree about the CSI Experience being a waste of time. My wife, on the other had, loved it so much she made us go through a second scene.

And as my dad taught me long ago... "Happy wife, happy life".

Have to agree with you there, we went to the CSI Experience a couple years ago as the wife wanted to go although I wasn't too bothered, she loved it, for me it was ok but not something I would say go too unless you are a big CSI fan.
