With the job change, Terri hasn't had near the opp to travel as she did with the previous gig. We're trying to get her away for a week, a late summer or early fall getaway, depending on locale. Some of the contenders are:

    Hawaii
    Vancouver (BC not WA!)
    Boston
    Charleston
    Bend
    Canadian Rockies

    Hmmmm ...

Her call. (But of course my ability to sell work based on the experience might have some bearing.)

Boston in the fall is a lovely time of year to visit. Just sayin'.

BEND BEND BEND!!!! Oh.. well, Hoya might have a point that you go there a lot. Just like us. :) In fact, I'm not going this year, but Dan is meeting his sister there as she finishes this year's piece of the PCT.

Charleston is lovely, but too hot for me in summer and early fall. We've been itching for a Canadian Rockies trip so I think I'll vote for that one.

Did you visit Charleston in the past few years? Or Savannah? I remember you talking about it but don't remember if you actually made the trip. Story of my life - I can't remember where I've been:rolleyes2:

Autumn is such a lovely time to travel - my favorite! Shoulder season in so many places (cheap rates:peace:), kids are all back in school (mostly...), weather can be so much nicer than summer....But then, even if it's cold, rainy, snowy or sleety - I prefer that to 100 and 99% humidity.

Can you tell I've entered my "fantasies about leaving the South" time of the year?:evillaugh We're contemplating NYC during Thanksgiving week.....I've decided that all travel over the next 18 months is going to be in honor of my 40th birthday, too :)

Actually, since I moved out of Oregon I've only been back to Bend once, four years ago, or whenever the hell that was. Just so many great things about Bend. I'd have to figure out how to get our road bikes and our clubs up there, however.

Kelly, we haven't yet done the Charleston/Savannah thing. That might -- might -- come off the list because if/when I finally get my ass to the Masters that would be included.

Boston has a lot going for it, save the obnoxious sports fans :poke: And we have friends down by Plymouth.

Terri's never been to Vancouver or the Canuckistani Rockies. Maybe we should just go to Kelowna and drink wine!?

Canadian Rockies are on our list too, but I want to go in the winter:peace:

I want to be in Boston this weekend, as there's a craft beer festival featuring farmhouse ales - one of my favorite styles - AND it's right down the road from a high school friend who offered me her couch. Ah well. Too busy at work and was out of town last week so I cannot escape now:cry: (I was thisclose to moving to Boston when I decided to move to NC instead - Sliding Doors of how our lives could have been different - always funny to contemplate....)

I don't see much point in Hawaii in summer/early fall, and I'd sooner do the Rockies than Vancouver personally.

If we did Hawai'i it would be my third trip this year. Hard to complain about paradise, yet though not my personal choice if she wants it, it's more than good. Except for my trip next week, all our Hawaii trips have been summer shoulder. Perfect for us. It's was passes for down-crowd times.

Vancouver would be a food/culture trip. Big with me. Perhaps bigger with her.

    So, Terri says:

"I want to hike, kayak, ride our bikes, play golf and drink great beer," so we're going to ...
