I could never find any straight ahead jazz in Vegas, if that is what you're looking for.

It's a shame you can't hear some good jazz in casino. And I mean vocal jazz like Diane Krall or Kurt Elling, not be-bop saxophone madness.

It seems like that music would still fit a casino perfectly.

The El Cortez table games area had jazz playing which added a real nice ambiance. It had an old school vibe which was totally right on.

Most casino bands I've seen in the last few years play current hits mixed in with some 80's, 70's (now oldies) music and maybe throw in a Frank Sinatra tune here and there but that's about it.

I suppose the casino execs figure no one wants to hear someone sing an old standard anymore. Damn shame really.

That would be my idea of a heavenly way to round off a night , a nice lounge with a live jazz band with a sultry singer , a cocktail ,a comfortable double seat with my wife .

Time somebody told these execs not everybody likes thumping nightclubs.

The website for Joe's Seafood Vegas used to have a jazz intro that is exactly what you are talking about. Don't know if you ever saw it...

Even a roof top lounge with a view that played Jazz- were the Mature adult could go and relax and enjoy- Gee everyone who is into Jazz and a more mello/mature crowd should chip in and open a place... call it something like Jazztop Lounge...LOL

As long as there are no cut-time saxophone be-bop solos, I'd be into it for a couple grand. :peace:

That being said the be-bop stuff works at a craps table like magic.
