@MCann I followed your whole adventure and can just imagine how frustrating all this back and forth to the airport was, especially having to manage you out of office status and all the stress involved. At least you got some lobster. Glad you were finally able to get home safe and sound.

Damn! I need a nap just from reading your trip report! I’m exhausted! I’m glad it was a better trip for you until the journey to get home! Thanks, as always, for taking us along!

They should be delivering it right to your house. When we had that issue, we flew out of Buffalo and on our return we had a layover in Detroit. Our flight from DTW to BUF was canceled and the airline, Delta, booked us to leave DTW the next day, late in the day. We had company coming (20 people) the next evening, so we rented a car to drive to BUF to get our car there to drive back home to Ontario. They wouldn’t retrieve our luggage so it was delivered to our door in Barrie, Ontario Canada a couple of days later.

I got my suitcase! I work in the capitol complex which is middle of downtown and much closer to the airport than home is, so I drove to the airport straight from work. Office was locked and not staffed again, but I found out by speaking with airport operations that an employee who runs that is onsite almost 24/7, but that they split duties so they arent always in the office. They told me I can pick up any courtesy phone and speak directly to airport operations, and that they are capable of summoning them. So I did that, and it worked, and my suitcase was there, but the airline rep told me it wasnt actually there yesterday and had just recently come in, and that's why she recognized my name. She said most of the bags that she got today showed up as delivered yesterday in the tracking system but they were not, so had I been able to reach her last night, she didnt have it yet anyway. Anyhoo, it's home now with me yaaaaaaay!!!!

Haha, not the first time either! And the same shirt I left at Cosmo a few years ago that they wouldnt let me go get when I realized 15 minutes after checking out, but then was reported found the next day by their lost and found.... was in that suitcase, so it's at least the second time I didnt lose that exact shirt!!!

That's how I left it at Cosmo back in 2019 in the first place, sort of. I'd hung it in the bathroom to put on when I got out of the shower, but when I got out and opened the bathroom door, it was hidden behind the open door (which is also why I didnt notice it when I did the final room sweep for items), I absent mindedly forgot it was there and I grabbed another out of my suitcase. And I shit you not, I *almost* left it at Cosmo when I left in April because I'd left it lying on the bed when I emptied the closet (I had it on a Cosmo hangar because I'd worn it to get there; the rest were on my own hangars, so I'd taken it off the Cosmo hanger and threw it on the bed temporarily while packing), and it was so close to the exact same color as the sheets that I didn't see it there until I went to make sure I hadn't left anything on the night stand and walked back at just the right angle where one of the pearl buttons reflected the sun in my eyeball, like it was crying out for me not to leave it lol.

But I like where your head is here. Maybe I would both not lose it, and make my way home safe, but on the flip side, this is twice now that it has arrived later than me, so maybe it's actually the culprit and I should leave it at home from now on.

Just got back from a mini vacation and was pleased to see another @MCann Live TR. Great pics and I'm glad to know that you got your suitcase back so soon. Must be your lucky shirt that did the trick. :D

So as of now, I think I'm officially out for 4th of July. I have a couple or few more trips already booked this year, and I need to (well, should) financially recover a little and not miss work again so soon. My visit to Cosmo was only 30% of my time staying there so far this calendar year but accounted for roughly 50% of my total loss so far (in spite of showing a couple short hot streaks, there was a lot of losing and overall bloodbath on my bankroll), then I had almost $1,000 additonal unexpected travel expense, plus burned additional unplanned PTO with the delays, so going again in 3 weeks just doesn't make good sense at this point.

But I'll be back with a vengeance in a couple or few months. I'll just have to live vicariously through TR's on the 4th and probably just go fishing or something. Best of luck to all of you who are going!

And in the refunds department, @jpw711 you asked about my luck getting refunds from AA. Well, I just got off the phone with them, and this was a whole new one on me:

First, now that it doesn't matter and isn't especially time sensitive, I reached a person in.... 4 minutes.

I had a one way ticket on hold for half of a future trip and wanted to use my flight credits from last week's debacle to just book that rather than hassle with a refund. Much to my surprise, they reissued new ticket numbers every time they changed my flights, so my cancellation email had a whole list of them. The CSR said "Oh, this is a mess. I'll have to get with management to see if there's any way to use this, but the easiest thing would just be go ahead and buy your new ticket with cash and get these individually refunded. They're all approved already for cash refunds."

So the one time I prefer the flight credit, they tried to strongly encourage me to take a refund instead. Ironic much? But, management desk got it all set, and I just got round trip for later this year for $124.09 total out of pocket for another holiday, which in the current status quo of airline pricing is pretty amazing I think. Looks like they gave me just over 50% of my total round trip fare price from all the cancellations as a flight credit. But where is this 4 minute response time when I'm at the airport at 2AM?!?!? Lol well, Murphy's law of air travel I am. I told ya!
