I will get a refund for this one, eventually, only for "the unused portion" of course. I got nothing for the debacle last trip because I voluntarily took the economy flight to get home 1 day quicker. I think I even mentioned in that TR that I should have just not boarded the plane and either changed my flight or got a refund, but I wanted to go home so bad, and that got me home, so I chose it. They offered me first class re-schedule that time, but not that day, and I was so close to making my connector remember, it was still at the gate when I got there, but they closed the door while I was running to it. Had I known for sure I would miss it, I'd have done what I did this time and just take first class the next day. On that note, the whole AA checkin and service area is a clusterfuck and they are still cancelling flights today.

As far as this time though, I will not be made whole, but I will get a cash refund for the return flights. That amount is I think about 1/3 what I paid for Delta, not even considering the $120 in cab rides for two useless and unnecessary round trips between LAS and the strip.

Not to say anything is better in Europe, but passengers are more protected over here. Cancelling a flight in the last 14 days before departure is usually €300 penalty per person that the airline has to pay ON TOP of the refund in cash, for flights within Europe. Flights that are intercontinental have a €600 penalty per person on top of the refund (refund is only if you choose not to take the flight of course). Delayed by more than one hour? Penalty for the airline. Delayed by more than 3 hours? Same penalty as a cancelation.

This counts for EVERY airline departing from a European airport, and for every European based airline everywhere in the world.

In 2019 my Brussels - JFK flight (Delta) left 25 minutes late, I missed my connection in JFK (horrendous immigration lines), got to Vegas late (5 hours late).

They paid €1200 for that (for my wife and I), and the tickets only came to €900 for the both of us.

    You don’t see as many screw-ups here…

I think the worst part about the mess the airlines are right now is if they cancel you, you have a 4+ hour wait time to talk to anyone regardless of that situation which is insane. A few months ago, southwest canceled our Sunday flight and the soonest I could do in the app was 4 days later. I called and there was a 5+ hour wait with no call back option. I sat on hold, and at the roughly 3.5 hour mark, I adjusted my ear bud and fucking hung up on accident. Just miserable experiences regardless of the airline it seems.

Next month we fly Delta to Seattle before our cruise, and American coming home, so we can see what kind of shitfest I can get. A week later, we're heading to Vegas on Allegiant for the first time ever, so I'm sure at least one of those flights will get messed up.

Exactly what happened to me. When I got the cancellation notice, I wanted a flight that left 4 hours from then, but the customer service wait was 4.5 to 6 hours.

Well, I'm in a plane again, Delta flying pencil this time, with the unwashed masses, and I mean, I've only had one set of clothes for a while now so I fit right in, although I did shower right before I left for the airport. The plane sure is nicer than most of the AA ones, but I knew that. Still, if I have to sit in economy for 4 hours, it's nice to have the seatback TV screens that almost all Delta planes, including this one, have, but most AA planes don't (the AA ones that do are ironically nicer than their Delta equivalents, but they're few and far between except on specific routes)

Looks like I have an unobstructed view of the ground once we get in the air, too lol

So now let's just pray for my suitcase. AA just responded to questions about my bag from a twitter DM I sent them about 4 hours ago, so I at least have some identifying numbers, but the instructions they sent me were just a link to their web site about delayed and lost baggage, and of course nothing about my situation. It appears to be in Dallas according to what they sent. No idea what magic spell I need to learn to get them to continue it on to TLH now that I've cancelled the related flights.

Okay, flight mode time! If we make to Atlanta, I'll get a friend to pick me up if I have to! Lol just hope this flight makes it out and arrives at ATL stage and on time!

Holy cow, can’t believe another return flight issue twice in a row! Maybe that’s why I just stay through multiple trips.

Hope this finds you back home safely without further flight mishaps!

I moved my Bellagio stay to August so you still have a chance to beat me to the googly eyes.

Subtitled: Post a photo of your dog. You must be home by now.

Thanks for the spoiler bruh! Lol yah I was just popping in to say I just stepped off the plane in atlanta but had gotten a notification in the air that my second one is delayed about 2 hours. Still better than the American offer, not by a lot now in terms of arriving home, but I was concerned about the latest american booking missing the connector again pr the connector not even going. People were pouring out of LAS when I was walking in this morning cursing and screaming about their American flights being canceled today. First stranger I spoke to at the airport was asking for directions to Terminal 3 because they were buying one ways on site for the budget lines. And yep, that is indeed my flight number. But unlike Dallas or Charlotte, Atlanta is driving distance in an emergency. I could drive home in a rental if absolutely necessary. If that happens, I'll try and pick up a stranger whose flight was also cancelled and make a slapstick comedy.

Glad you are In Atlanta. It is easier for people from another country to get in/out of Vegas than from Florida.

I wont be back at Bellagio in that room before that. IF I go for July 4th which is looking very unlikely at this point, I'll be at Cosmo so I can watch fireworks and fountains from the balcony. My room at Cosmo is already booked for the 4th weekend, and I also had a 2br Luxor already booked for the 4th from a long time ago, but I canceled that this morning.

Oh, denied! I just got sooooo excited to see a sign for this in the airport that I walked a long way to get there, but it just closed for the day, which seems really weird to me for a burger and dog place! Never heard of a branch of this being in the airport before, but I have fond memories of the original!

Settled for airport fish n chips for dinner because I have some time to kill. They were actually not bad with half a bottle of malt vinegar

I got some giant cookies for the childish endorphin and sugar rush, and my flight to my car is boarding now! It seems like just yesterday I was getting on a plane to head home! This last flight is just 53 minutes so hopefully I'll see my dog soon!!!
