One players card or two?

Is there an advantage to my wife and I playing with only one players card in one name instead of each of us playing on our own card?

Depending on play levels it makes more sense to put on one account. Instead of two small or medium players, you now look like one medium or larger player and offers will increase in quality. Many folks do this, especially on slots. If both are table players, than not so much.

Then again, if you each only spend a couple hundred each day, neither is going to get much in offers.

What sort of offers do each of you get these days?
Do you always travel together?

 

Yes we are always together, so if I am playing on my wife's card in the opposite side of the casino this doesn't throw a flag about 2 cards?

 

With mLife, you can link your cards, and play on both cards is for the same account.
With Caesar's Rewards, you cannot link the accounts, so it may be beneficial to only play on one card to reach higher levels.

 

My wife and I play on the same card. We make lower Diamond by playing together, it has brought us many free concert tickets and other perks which sadly are mostly gone now. It still would be a plus to play on the same card if, together, it gets you to a higher level, or a higher ADT, which is probably even more valuable.

 

Do it all the time, no issues, while officially not allowed in most cases casinos/hosts don't really care I've been to. Not really sure how it looks in their reports...

Sometimes you can't redeem FP if two cards are active. I'd never play someone else's FP, if you were to win a jackpot they would have justification to deny you if the FP wasn't yours.
The only benefit I see with some separate play is if you both then qualify for the local casinos junk gifts.

 

When I treat my family (sister and brother), they both use my card. No problems so far at M Life properties doing this.

Just a comment. Back when I was with my ex, we always would just use his card. I didn't even have a card. Then came the day I wanted to come without him. No comps for JosieCat at M Life .

Luckily, we had recently stayed at Bally's, and that card was in my name, so I was able to get comped rooms at CET.

 

Good point, pretty much all terms say they won't deal with divorces/estates. Another reason to keep spending down credits.

This is actually a legitimate issue on the technical backend right now -- the system just doesn't have the capacity to handle someone non-binary, it'll only take "M" or "F". That said, I have it on good authority that they're working on it. As far as using the same card in two different places, that shouldn't be a big deal. And as far as linking, it's better to consolidate on one card if you're looking for offers, but if you're just after the points and reward credits, two cards doesn't make much of a difference.

As an aside, my mother's best friend growing up, along with my friend's wife, were both girls named Michael.

Last I knew:

At Mlife:

• Linking accounts at MLife is only for purposes of both accounts being able to draw on a shared pool of points (convertible to freeplay) and Express Comps. Tier Credits get combined for purposes of tier level. Those are pluses. But,
• Offers are still sent based on the play on each card separately, and play is still tracked separately
  
• So if you always travel together, and you never want to be able to book back-to-back offers, then playing on one card would be advantageous, because you will get better offers on that one account.
  • If only one of you sometimes goes solo, that should be the account you use.
• If you both currently get separate offers that are satisfactory, and you ever want to back-to-back them, continuing to play on separate cards might be the way to go

At CET:

CET doesn't let you link accounts for purposes of sharing RCs or combining TCs but they do let you enter a companion's account number for purposes of booking rooms using the Availability Calendar and that can lead to better comp availability. I've never done it, but I can't think of a reason not to, as long as both players are going on the trip (both must be present).

Someone please correct if any of these points are outdated.

 

EDIT: I typed this about the same time as the post before so it shares some similar information.

Some corrections:

1 - If you link at Mlife - keep in mind they still track each person's play separately. And offers are individual. We linked but put all play on my account.

2 - Jackpots? Never an issue. Have hit many of them. When they come to see you, hand them YOUR players card and ID. Does not matter what was in the machine.

3 - Two cards in different places at once... never been an issue that I know of.

4 - Downloading FP - yes, I have run into an issue at Mlife that it gets confused if you have two cards in play while trying to do that.

 

What I am thinking, for example we both allow ourselves $1000 each a day to gamble for three days. With each having our own card you only rack up $3000 in play over the three days, where as on one card we would rack up $6000 in play over the three day stay. Would this increase the offers or it's not worth messing with?

 

Whether you are talking about coin-in or Bankroll (loss limit), either way, doubling your play level on one card should improve your offers on that card.

If you're quoting coin-in, the effect won't be huge ($2,000 coin-in on 1 card vs $1,000 coin-in on 2 accounts should get you about $33/day more in comp value on the single card). If you're quoting bankroll, it would be more significant.

 

@Chuck2009x and @nostresshere great points. I was thinking more along the lines of the status levels with mLife, not the tracking of play. Regarding entering a companion's TR number when booking rooms, we do this all the time, and it almost always gives us better deals.

 

The only issue I've had while playing on wife's card (Hard Rock in Atlantic City) was that she had just ordered a drink from her machine-so I pulled her card out so as to not confuse the server.

This may come up as more places go with the drink ordering from machines.

 

Interesting conversation. My gf and I were just arguing about this. We primarily stay DT at the GN.

We ended up flying to Vegas several times actually during covid for better or worse. Don’t think I have been sick yet, btw.

My GF just made the premier level at GN and I missed it by a few points. We also play at a bunch of other places but don't have player cards at other places downtown.

Our offers on the GN app are exactly the same. So even if you made the next level up, your offers are identical.

We stayed at cosmo for one night and somehow my GF is getting offers for free rooms, but I never received anything. I lost 1k that night and my gf won about $800 so I don't understand. She did pay full price for a room that night at cosmo, so that may have had something to do with it.

We are arguing now if we should just play her card at cosmo this time or play for two. Interesting points were brought up earlier about if you show up by yourself. She would never let me show up by myself, so if I did, i wouldn't have to worry about her any longer

 

Cosmo is the one place where hosts will openly and enthusiastically recommend that (married) couples play two people to a single card.
