It's 1:30 in the morning here in the Midwest. I leave at 8:25 in the morning to head to the airport for an 11:05 flight. It's been a horrendously busy couple of weeks for me, with today and yesterday being totally exhausting...finally am finished now with my prepping and packing. I should just drop off to sleep right now, right? Right??? Nope. Feeling WIDE AWAKE despite the fact that I need to sleep. Sharing all this because this is me every.damn.time. I have a morning flight to Vegas. So I pour a fat glass of red wine, hop on VMB and scroll through posts and PRAY that I get enough sleep so I'm not exhausted when I arrive in Vegas.

I'm curious: What does *your* pre-Vegas night look like? Any rituals or habits you care to share? Is it hard for anyone else to fall asleep?

Waiting until the night before to start packing. A few years ago I happened to spot a missing dog near my property that I saw posted on FB. So I ended up staying up late to help a stranger find their dog. 3 hours of sleep then had to drive to the airport.

For me it's usually running down my packing list. My dopp kit is always packed so my toiletries are ready to go, but I want to make sure I have my usual clothing. I've had more than one scare, Vegas and otherwise, where I slept through my alarm and woke up five minutes before my drop-dead time to leave for the airport. Vegas stresses me less, because at the end of the day, every single piece of clothing I own can be replaced here (whether CVS or Banana Republic), but I absolutely hate being stressed on travel days.

I haven't been there since November 2019. But I go around six times a year for three to five nights at a time. I pack a couple of nights before my one-hour flight from LAX to LAS arriving in the afternoon. I take the gold line light-rail (station is across the street from where I live) to Union Station (15 minutes). Then I take the Flyaway bus which leaves every 30 minutes to LAX. This is a 30 to 45 minute ride. I get to the airport about an hour-and-a-half before my flight, so I might grab a small bite. When I get to Vegas, I usually take a shuttle if I'm by myself, or a cab if I'm with people. I get a couple small bottles of water at room registration. After I check-in I go to my room and take a pee. Then I unpack my clothes that I hang, into the closet. I go to Walgreen's and spend a few bucks on a couple gallons of water (better than spending $40 in the casino). Since I'm there a few nights, my first night is for relaxing. I turn on the TV and watch the channel about the casino/hotel, lie down on my bed, and look at my strip view. I grab a bite to eat that night and do some light gambling after getting my free play. Then the next days I do a lot of gambling, eating, drinking, and having fun. On the day that I fly back, I usually can't wait to get home to get some sleep.

Pack, clean, notes for the cat sitter and a split of champagne. I have a goal time to go to bed but I’m always late. I usually don’t have trouble going to sleep but if I get to bed too late I’m always worried about oversleeping. There are a lot of things I can’t pack until the morning of so I panic if I don’t get up on time.

Last trip I was determined not to pack the last minute so started days ahead. Didn’t work for me. I couldn’t remember exactly what I packed so pretty much ended up unpacking and repacking.

Do I find it hard to sleep the night before? Yes. And this is especially worse for me since I am usually an early riser and have troubles sleeping in. I do usually watch Hangover or 21 the night before and will watch some youTube vids of Vegas vlogs and such. This may sound weird but I don't pack until an hour before I leave as I usually have items in the laundry that I am waiting for to be done so I can pack it all at once. And I never plan prior on what I'm doing when I arrive. The plan is almost never followed anyways because I always end up deviating the moment I land and see all the lights and action.

I haven't been to Vegas since Nov 2019 and I still won't since Canada still has the stupid quarantine hotels (3 days at our expense of around $1500 total) we are required to check into when we return. I expect this to be lifted soon but I can't plan anything yet without knowing for sure this is lifted. With me being away for so long, I got a nice bankroll that is waiting to land on the baccarat table felt. Can't wait until Canada joins the rest of the world opening up.

@TiffyChick Enjoy your trip Tiffy. Go get in some trouble. Well, not THAT much trouble.... :headbang:

I eat a handful of melatonin about 90 minutes before the time I wish I was going to fall asleep, finalize packing (if I have to leave early) make sure clothes are pressed and hung in the bathroom for travel, then read VMB and watch Vegas videos on the YouTubes while I get progressivley more frustrated I'm not asleep yet, until I pass out. Also make sure and give plenty of attention to my dog. Mostly, I've done everything I can to avoid flying early any more. Last early flight I took, I slept through like 5 alarms and thank goodness had a friend driving me to the airport and texts and phone calls from her finally woke me up 8 minutes before she was supposed to pick me up. Barely made it on my flight that time and definitely would have missed it had the plan been to drive myself.

I wish I were this organized before heading to Vegas so I could do this.

My flight is in 7 days and 6 hours!!! And, incredibly, I'm about 95% packed, which is a triumph! But, I have packed waayyyy too much even though it is pared down from my April/May trip. So I have been channeling @vegas superfan and others and hope to pare this list down by about a third today. I'm usually throwing things in my bag at the last minute 30 minutes before I need to head to the airport. Before my last trip I wound up staying up all night before my car service came at 5:30 am.

This time I'll be pretty busy with work and also helping my mom get ready before we depart. I'd LOVE to have a mini glass of wine with her the night before our departure to toast our upcoming adventure. Fingers crossed.

In the early evening before departure I'll be getting a mani/pedi, waxing, etc. etc. That's pretty standard for me the late afternoon/early evening before a flight to Vegas.

Most important, wishing you a great trip!

    LOL

So my trip is supposed to be 5 days. So when I unpacked from my last trip, I decided whatever toiletries I had brought home, would be enough for 5 additional days without refilling so I only replenished the Q-Tips.

Now my trip is 12 days. And screw it, I am going to leave it.

    12 days:

I'll pack 2 pairs of shants + what I am wearing on the plane and wear them each 4 days. Sink laundry + Febreeze exists
I'll pack 3 shirts because I am a slob who always spills stuff
I have recently begun packing ONE pair of shoes because I had a mishap during a rainstorm one time where they wouldn't dry
Minimal toiletries - all in a ONE ounce container, just because you can bring 3 ounce containers doesn't mean you need 3 ounces!

    And that's pretty much it.

I normally fly out after work so the night before all I really do is go to bed to get up for work. I'm packed by then.

In the morning (or now during work since I work from home) I put last minute things in my bag like my electric toothbrush. Except for when like my last trip, I forgot to pack it. And had to pay $9 in the airport to buy one because I knew I would forget when I landed. Then Jet Blue gave me one in my Mint amenity kit so there was a second opportunity to kick myself.

This so extraordinarily awesome. Will be channeling you big time today. I'm 1000% serious. I won't get down to this ^^^^ but I need to cut down from 15 tops, 7 pairs of pants, 4 dresses and 6 pairs of shoes and 3 purses + lots of other random stuff. They don't take up a lot of space but I don't need a dozen face masks in different colors . . . . Yes, I'm fully vaccinated but I'm still going to wear one when around lots of other people.

I feel you, Girl! I packed 4 nice dresses, 3 casual dresses, casual skirts, tank tops, more shoes than I care to admit, PLUS, I refuse to travel without my travel hot water pot, my LED candles, my portable Bluetooth speaker and my travel usb air freshener unit. I like my hotel room to be comfortable and full of ambiance. I think it should be a sanctuary at the end of a day filled with the action and intense vibe of the casinos and the strip.

You 100% do not need that much clothing, especially since you can get it dry cleaned by Wynn on their dime!

Not much these days. I usually pack 2 days before. My first 10 trips though, I'd play the did I do this or did I pack that game.

My 4th or 5th trip, I'd set up for a buddy and I. I was do up at 7 and about 2 I woke up wondering if I put tickets (yes, it was that long ago) and everything in my carryon. I get up to check and can't. Long story short, I look all over including my car in the garage and can't find them. I get back in and check my carryon again and they are right where they shoud be! I got maybe another 45 min of sleep. It was my friend's first visit so we ended up walking the strip from the Frontier to Excal and back up to the Sands.
He had to try their $6.95 steak and lobster which of course was terrible. We 86'd that meal, cabbed back to Palace Station to have steak and eggs in the Iron Horse. By the time we got to the room and asleep, I'd been up for about 25 hrs with only about 3 hrs sleep the night before. I recall being somewhat tired!
