I'm also a low budget traveler but on my last trip in Sept/Oct (when i sent you the Vdara mask) i ate at Lago and also at Mercato della Pescheria. Was going for the happy hr at Mercato but ended up having their pasta with seafood dish, less pasta and full seafood. Both meals were good. I agree that we are worth it. I work pretty hard so why not?

 

It has been an extraordinary afternoon and early evening in my little bubble here in Vegas. I am down for the day so far (the night is young!) but played a LOT at Palace Station and got a small handpay.

I am back in the Bingo Room for the 7 pm session after having moved up my reservation at Sparrow + Wolf to early evening, where I had one of the best meals EVER and at an extremely reasonable price. This will be a MUST DO FOR ME EVERY SINGLE TRIP.

Lots of photos of VP and food to share but my phone is almost dead and I need to save some juice in case I hit BINGO so I can take a picture.

Back soon after I recharge but just had to share now how extraordinary both the food and service were at Sparrow + Wolf.

I know lol, but it was a 400% return on my investment and for an hour of playing!

 

Bought a charger in the Palace Station gift shop as I remembered that a lot of the new machines have the charging portal as do all of the Bingo tables.

I am back in the Bingo room for the 9 pm session.

So, I played UX Bonus Deluxe (I know, I know), but it was treating me a lot better than the machine at Wynn did yesterday. It has been a net losing day so far at Palace Station but not by a lot.

Below are a slew of VP photos from this afternoon and evening, including the handpay but also a number of extremely frustrating hands, like having dealt trip 2s and Aces and with multipliers on all ten hands and not connecting. But, though I wish I were a net winner I have played a lot and can't complain. I may play in the 11 pm session so will get in another hour or so of VP when the 9 pm session ends.

 

Dealt 10s though with not one multiplier.

An intermission. Won another bingo though just 50 this time. But a BINGO is a BINGO!!

 

So, this afternoon while I was waiting for my HP I moved over to play what I thought was a Hot Roll machine but it was a SUPER HOT ROLL machine, like the new one at Wynn that I really like but the minimum bet is $30 (dollar denom for 3 hands x 10 coins). At Palace, however, you can play it for as low as a nickel denom though there was no 10 play at any denom nor TDB at any denom.

Back at the 11 pm Bingo session, the final one of the evening. In recent years Palace had added a 1 am session but that session has been suspended during Covid.

The last hour of VP was not good. I had a couple of good hands but also more very frustrating ones; so many of the latter that I stopped taking pictures of them.

While I was playing VP some guy came up to me and it took me three times to understand his question. He seemed polite so I was thinking he was a host but I could not hear him until the third time, when I heard him ask: "Are you married?" OMG. I was so frickin' annoyed and freaked with someone bothering me like that in any event but especially in a COVID environment. I had my mask on and so did he, until he pulled it down to ask me the question for the third time. WTF!?!!?!?!!?!!!?!!!?! I shut that down immediately but it rattled me a bit because of Covid. Argh. And it threw off my mojo.

Back to regular programming.....

I also wanted to share that there are really no benefits now for non-locals at Stations except for any monthly or special offers you may receive. I am 50+ and I am eligible for the half points dining promo on Wednesdays but that is something I would likely never use.

There is no longer any half points for Bingo promo on Wednesdays either. I got the impression that was stopped when the casinos reopened in June.

On Thursdays there is a point multiplier promo but it is only good for locals. Hopefully some of the previous promos will resume for 50+ and non-locals when things pick back up.

IMPORTANT EDIT: Around 12:30 this morning I went to check my point balance and I WAS able to activate the 10x multiplier for VP and Slots and indeed saw that my play for about a half hour into the new day was multiplied by 10!! So, what the rewards desk person told me was inaccurate.

 

Damn, I keep getting a zillion one aways for Bingo and then someone else calls it.

So back to very happy thoughts.
Sparrow + Wolf.

Absolutely STELLAR service; friendly and very attentive but not overly so. It was an incredibly informed service as well. My waiter knew this was my first time there and that I wanted to learn about the menu and different specialty cocktails and he was fabulous in that respect but not forced at all. And if there was a crumb on the table someone would come by and wipe it with a cloth and new utensils were brought out regularly.

The restaurant is not big but it is both homey and stylish. The second room for which I took pictures was normally used as a private dining room but during Covid it is being used for additional seating.

Every part of my meal was wonderful and there were some dishes that were so good that I was my eyes were closed while chewing.

I have a copy of the menu, which my waiter says changes almost daily.
