I don't drink very often, so I really don't taste anything different in a mixed drink unless I had the drink the same day and it tastes different. Different could mean more or less liquor in the drink, not necessarily a different brand.

I agree, I cannot see free drinks being removed entirely. Cutbacks, cheaper house brands, maybe moving the player level up for call brands, etc. The cocktail waitresses would take the brunt of this new policy, and there is no way their unions would go for that. The CW tips would go bye-bye if they started charging for drinks as their tip would now be used to pay for the drink, instead of giving those $$ to them. can you imagine the time waste exercise then of everyone room charging each drink as they may / may not get it comped at the end either through RFB or back-end comps? Just the paperwork exercise alone ( throughout the whole system) would cost the casinos more than trying to save a few $$ on "free" drinks.

I was told no Fiji in CP poker room unless Diamond. Apparently players were taking to many home with them

I was in Vegas four weeks ago and for the first time I went up to several casino bars and simply ordered drinks while showing my CET Diamond card. I got free top shelf drinks at Bally's and Flamingo and was turned down at the CP Sportsbook bar.

I know they have had them for years. I said they are updating the screens in Caesars ac as in putting in replacing the old ones with newer ones. And my point was I don't think they would do that if the plan was to eliminate comp drinks. The ordering system on the machines has been in place in Atlantic city for a long time and at other properties cet properties so I was also referring to them possibly rolling it out in lv because it's an effective way to charge for call brand liquor.

If you are diamond status or higher (if I remember correctly you are) in ac you would never see a charge for any drink you order on the machines. However if you are gold you see some comp and some up charges, platinum sees some more comps but some charges diamond sees all comp and better options.

They actually advertise this upsell process in the wild west casino at ballys too. Sorry for the confusion

This has been their policy for at least a year or two. I also had waitresses start asking me to flash my card on the floor for Fiji or premium liquor late last year as well.

Actually alexm, there shouldn't be any need to apologize for any confusion. You clearly said in the post that was being replied to (post #36), that the displays were being UPDATED, not installed.

How would a BJ dealer in North Carolina have anything about a Las Vegas drink policy "on authority"? Does anyone really think CET Las Vegas is going to be sharing their plans on changing in player perks in LV with NC BJ dealers? He is adamant because he believes this to be true, not because he has credibility or authority. I hope you noted his name, and will follow up with him in "2 months" when we see that free drinks, for the most part, will still exist in Las Vegas CET casinos.

I would expect that there is some kind of change coming in the LV drink policy, but they aren't ending free drinks as he claims to "know".

Dealers are just regular people, some are nice, some are not. I wouldn't be surprised if this person was just stirring the pot, because why not. At my place of work, I have heard rumors being spread that the shop is shutting down, machines are going to auction, shifts are getting cancelled. Want to know where I heard this from? The shipping assistant, who apparently is in regular talks with the CEO....... Some people just want to watch the world burn.

For the last few years we've carried a backpack cooler with us. This, along with our travel Keurig, allows us to be self sufficient when traveling. We like top shelf booze of our choice, with mixers of our choice. Glass glasses for the in room drinks and plastic travel glasses for drinks we take out of the room. We hit the ice machine upon arrival, have a drink in hand on leaving the room and return to the room if we need to "reload". Free drinks leave a lot of chance as to what you are actually getting.

That was a few years ago. For at least last two years, it's no Fiji in Caesars poker room unless you have 7*.

bare with me, I have been drinking but I will be a barer of bad news...at least for New Orleans, im sure it will follow to all properties as eldorado wants their money back...evidences below (dont ask how I get things)

so as many know, In New Orleans, for diamond you get 4 drinks and 7* 8 drinks each day, resets at midnight.

so with the changes that started yesterday and and being fine tuned right now...even if you are playing, depending on your card level and play you will have your comp drinks taken or paid for

so gold will be shit on, platinum will get a bit better, diamond and 7* will be taken care of but everyone still get screwed...

I got the run down and will try to answer everyone's questions if I dont answer it here

so say, Diamond, you get 4 drinks...you are at the table or machine and order a drink...they take your card, now you are down to 3 drinks...if you are not the level to to get that drink comped, you pay for it or use points or premium drink you pay to upgrade...say your drink, like mine cost more and is not in the comp/pay system, i have comp drinks left though...you pay for it with points or cash...once you use your 4 Diamond or 8 7* drinks, you pay cash or points

here is the NEW ORLEANS card to drink levels

Thank you. This is bad news. But why are you sure it will follow to all other properties given that the 4/8 maximum drink rule in New Orleans was not followed at the other casinos?

I think they will continue to get away with erosion where they can but that in Vegas and AC this will not work well for them - to even have a chance the other companies would have do it in lockstep. In some locals they can blame charging on state law (and I’m not sure how the NO rule came about in the first place) but if they want to keep the gambling destinations alive, this is not a good plan imo.

With only me having 8 drinks or less I don’t think some of my more casual gambling friends (or the ones that just stand by me for a drink and watch) would even step foot on the casino floor or in the lounge and it would be harder to get them to go to Vegas/ac versus other vacation destinations. That would have me going less and playing less while there (because my friends will want to be at the pool/in bars rather than In/around the casino) and ultimately dropping to matched diamond.

I also wonder what this would do to drink tickets in the sportsbooks (which is not an issue in New Orleans yet).

Exactly! Harrah's New Orleans has a near monopoly in that city. There are no other major casinos there. Their drink policy has been more restrictive than LV for years. How about this? I'll go the other way. I'm "sure" that this same policy will not be put in place in Las Vegas this year!

The whole premise of this thread is that there was a "new drink policy" in Las Vegas as of Feb 1 (stated on the podcast)! This because the caller talked to a cocktail waitress who claimed to see the announcement. Yet, here we are, 3 weeks later, and not one person has observed any significant change.

As I said before, it would seem likely that there will be some change to the LV CET drink policy, which will be a cutback. "No more free drinks", or the New Orleans policy is coming to LV are not happening this year.
