Is anyone aware of a list of MGM / Mirage restaurants that accept Express Comps? I wouldn't be staying on property so charging to room is not an option. For all it's flaws at least Total Rewards publishes a clear list of restaurants that accept reward credits. The Mlife website mentions looking for a sign that say "Express Comps Accepted here." Not super useful if you're looking to book something nice ahead of time. Any suggestions?
I think the best thing to do is call the restaurant directly. MGM does a crappy job of this compared to CET. For looking purposes, I would go on the assumption that most large restaurants that are located within the hotel/casino's footprint take them, but it's definitely not 100%, there's going to be a few exceptions.
1 - Though not as good as a list, you can always ask if they take them at the restaurant, or call. I think there are less off-branded ones with MGM than at CET. 2 - Keep an eye on your ADT, if it matters. When you use your card, I believe it will trigger the system and you will have a low/no play trip at MGM. Maybe you are already planning to play and it does not matter. Just a thought.
Thanks for the comments. I was planning on calling a few places, but just wanted to make sure there wasn't a list out there somewhere. And good points about ADT, will take that into consideration.
Actually, I have a question on this subject, too. I'm arriving next Wednesday and will be staying at Aria until Friday morning on a comp. At that point, I'll be at Orleans/Zion for the next 3 days and then doing a 1 night Bellagio comp on Monday night. I've decided to make this a responsible gambling trip, as I want to focus on good blackjack and FP Video Poker a bit more, which will result in me short-playing mlife (I may not be able to get to Vegas for 2+ years after this trip and I wanted to build up some CET comps anyhow). I'm wondering: when I short-play them (but give them at least a few hours of play each day), are they possibly going to tell me on Monday that my Bellagio room isn't being offered to me anymore as a comp since it's a different trip? (more than 72 hours)
If your Bellagio room is already booked as a comp, its highly unlikely that will change as a result of the scenario you describe
Not aware of a list either, but every mlife restaurant I have eaten at has taken EC. In fact, the only place that hasn't are food courts and restaurants in Crystals. But I can't think of an mlife hotel restaurant that doesn't take them
I agree with UK that it's highly unlikely if you already booked it. However, if I remember correctly, there was recently someone who had a trip on a comp, no- or severely low played and then LATER tried to book an offer that was already sitting out there, and they refused to book him on it. I don't think it was MLife, I think it was one of the off-strip chains or an independent. Also in regards to using the Express Comps when staying off property, I stayed two weekend nights on an MGM Grand offer, played my normal amount, then went to see Zumanity at NYNY on the following Wednesday night, had dinner at Gallagher's at NYNY and paid with Express Comps. I didn't play at all that night. I didn't see any effect on the next couple of rounds of offers. If I got dinged for using the ECs (and/or the show tix), it should have either been a no-play trip or reduced my ADT for the week/trip by 33% and I would have expected to see an effect.
