Now that Borgata is an MLife property I was sure that they would waive the $20 resort fee, at least for higher tier levels like they do at every other MLife that we've visited. Nope! They're still charging them even for Platinum. This is unacceptable and we'll just have to take our business elsewhere. As much as we like Borgata, why would we pay a resort fee when we can stay at CET with no fee. Sorry! Just a rant.

MLife doesn't waive resort fees based on tier level.

I know that but they do waive them on comped rooms. We have never paid a resort fee on comped rooms at any MLife property.

I would just like MLife to actually be operational online with the Borgata. I guess having an entire year to plan the transition was simply too short of a time to make it work. Utter incompetence.

Were you there on a comp room?

As much as I hate to pay a resort fee (and rarely do..maybe never?).... that would not be enough to stay at Harrahs vs Borgata.

But then you would have to stay at a CET property LOL! There is nothing in town that can match the Borg. I'd take an extra 15 bucks over anything CET has there. I assume you are Diamond. You do know when you waive the resort fee with CET you do NOT get any of that stuff for free right? WiFi, you would have to pay. Gym, you would have to pay ETC. If you dont use that stuff fine. But when comparing apples to apples CET not charging you the fee for being Diamond doesnt mean they will throw that all in for free. Some players even opt in to the CET resort fee since it ends up being cheaper for what they use.

Its also just $15 for the Borgata Resort Fee. The extra $5 is a NJ occupancy/toursim fee for the room. I was Diamond with CET as well, and I had to pay that $5 a night on my comped room.

You must never have stayed at MGM in Las Vegas. I'm Platinum as well, and every one of my offers for MGM I would HAVE to pay the resort fee. At other properties they still sneak it in. At Luxor one of my offers is for $100 in free play. And another is for $125. My host booked me under the $100 FP and I yelled at her. She said the other corporate offer would have me pay the resort fee for 3 nights. Lame and sneaky.

    Bingo!

Grid: We are diamond at CET and always get free WiFi and whatever amenities come with the resort fee and yes, we'd rather stay at the Borg but I have to say (as much as I hate doing so) that my biggest wins have been at Harrah's in AC. Not wanting to pay the resort fee is a matter of principle. We don't pay them anywhere else.

We go to LV 4-5 times/yr and stay at MB, Aria or Bellagio and have NEVER paid a resort fee at any of them. We just returned from MGM Detroit (we were in Troy for my granddaughter's graduation), called and asked if we could get a room. No problem. We got a room on the concierge floor and NO resort fee. We also go to the Beau in Biloxi and never pay a resort fee.

Yes, you're right that the extra $5 is taxes and fees that we pay everywhere in NJ.

I stayed at Harrahs in AC while being Diamond. I had the resort fee waived and could only use the public wifi in the main areas. They made it clear that if I connected to wifi in the room I would be charged. So I didn't try it. I'm sure i could have snuck in the gym as well, but didn't attempt it. Maybe I shouldnt have been chicken, but that was their rules. See below from their website. Thats why you can still opt in to the fees.

"Resort Fees are not automatically assessed for Diamond or Seven Stars members, but such packages may be purchased upon request with Reservations or Front Desk Agent. The amenities covered by resort fees will vary by location. Please ask Reservations or Front Desk for more details."

I get that its a matter of principle for you, but again MGM has always picked and chooses which resorts would still charge the fee on a comped room. Like my MGM example in Vegas.

I was just saying, that for me, I would rather stay at the nicest resort in Atlantic City for just $15 bucks more, and know that the $15 also covers some extras like their awesome gym. If you are a higher level player, what does that come out to? A few spins on a slot machine? It's just all in your perspective I guess.

I don't mind paying a few bucks more to eat at a better restaurant. Sure, I wish that better restaurant was as cheap as the lower quality one done the road. But I'll pony up for my better experience.

Its also $3.00 on a slot to earn a penny in free play & another penny in express comps now that they switched to Mlife. Being Platinum gets you 30% more. $3,000 coin in on a slot machine is $13.00 in free play + $13.00 in comp = $26.00 return on your play.

Total Rewards is $5.00 for 1 penny in comp. And in AC, most places are 2 = 1 So your penny is worth half as much. And if you converted your reward credits into free play, they are still worth less than a penny!

So your $3000 of coin in at Harrahs is $6.00. $3.00 if you want to eat at a better place. Or like $4.00 in free play if you convert by being Diamond ($3.00 for gold level). Compare that to your play at the Borg, $26 earned to use VS $6.00 (or $3.00)

Maybe, as a matter of principal, your should avoid the club that rewards like shit. You'd make back that extra $15 in the 1st hour you play in the casino, the rest is all gravy!

Borg nets more profit than the other casinos for a reason: they're better in every measurable way, as alluded to in the above post. That said, I'm riding the CET train for one reason: Ceasar's. Yea, I can commute there, but there's something nice about being on the boardwalk. Plus the initial bite to stay at a Borg room on a summer weekend is kinda too cost prohibitive for me to want to consider when I get free rooms every day (including weekends) at CET AC properties.

Said it didn't recognize my email info..Then I had to "activate" my MLife account with Borgata.aaaaaannnnnnnndddddd NOPE . Got a screen of apologies and directions to see the MLife desks in the Borgata for more assistance. Geez...They been fucking around with this shit for a year now. What gives?

I agree with what everyone is saying. Borgata is far superior to anything else in AC. We do stay there often and do pay the resort fee (when it was not MLife). My problem with the Borg is that we have to pay the resort fee even though it's now MLife and we never pay it anywhere else. I don't know what kind of offers you're getting in LV but ours always come with no resort fee. As for CET, we do get free WiFi with no resort fee. We don't use the gym so I can't speak to that. I also agree that it sucks that the 2:1 resort credits for non CET owned restaurants sucks. We haven't stayed at a CET property in years except for last year when we HAD to stay at Harrah's to get free JLo tickets. Not disputing that MLife is much better. We get decent FP, decent resort credit and stay at much nicer properties in LV. As an added perk, my husband won $25K FP at a slot tournament at Aria in Oct. However, we're not seeing that at Borgata.

My ADT is pretty much the same in Vegas as it is in AC. I'm a degenerate no matter where I play. Mlife corporate comps, for matching play, are usually more for my Vegas play than that of Total Rewards for me.

The Borg before Mlife was no exception. My comps were double or quadruple that of Total Rewards in AC. So the Borg comped better, their program returns more and their property is so much nicer than CET in town.

Knowing I would get $100 more in free play + $100 more in point play = no sweat paying the extra $15 to stay there just on the comp end.

You're right about the FP. We always get much more at the Borg and other MLife properties than we do at ANY CET properties but CET does give us some other perks like free good show tickets in LV. Yeah, we do like MLife much better than CET but we play the game anyway.

So have we swayed you? The better free play, the better returns on the club and the better properties all well out weigh the $15 resort fee in AC right? Principle be damned!

I started avoid CET casinos since I couldn't win jack and I kept getting sad after sinking so much through the slots, and seeing enough reward credits to maybe buy a burger and coke. So as a matter of principle I avoid them and their stingy reward play. I will give them credit for the easy room comps. But my play gets me a room at the better joints anyway, so it doesn't matter to me.

If you are a low roller, CET will take care of you. But your level of play, and higher cards, show that you are getting rooms any way. So go for the best better and best returns on your action.
