if i book a room now paying for it, will it stop me from getting a free room offer?

So I'm planning a trip in six months. The casino we want to stay at usually sends us free offers but we don't have one for that far out. I booked a room for now and players club said if/when I get the free room offer, I can use it. He doesn't seem to think that the computer will see that I've already booked and not offer us a free room. Does anyone know how this works?

 

I can only speak to CET offers, but they definitely don't get blocked by an existing reservation. I have two separate upcoming reservations, one full comp, but the other is paid and I'm still getting new offers for the time between now and the paid reservation.

 

I have received offers even after I had booked, Just call and reference your offer and they will update your reservation.

 

I've done this many times, mainly at Red Rock and Silverton. I've never had a problem getting the comp when the offer came out. Recently a host at Silverton emailed me out of the blue ( I don't have an assigned host) and offered his services if I ever "needed anything". I emailed a comp room request for a date that I hadn't got my offer yet and he gladly booked it for me. When my offer came out, I called reservations and checked if my Free Play and Resort Credit were attached to the reservation and they were!

Maybe you could contact a host at your property and they could do the same. Good Luck!

By the way, I recently started checking with the "Host on Duty" when I check out to see if they could comp anything else (usually $200 or less in room charges) and I've only been denied once! Red Rock has even taken off $100 twice. I was a little nervous asking the first couple of times but all they can do is say no! Thanks to all the posters on this board for encouraging asking for backend comps. I have a feeling that many people are leaving comps on the table as I was until recently! LOL!

 

My experience with CET is opposite. If I booked several months out, my marketing offers would skip over the timeframe of my trip. I would still see free rooms on the calendar but they wouldn't send me something that would compete with what I had on the books.

 

that's my concern....the players club said no problem using the offer once I get it and he said he thinks I will but I was wondering if their system would detect that I have a reservation already and not send me an offer for that timeframe. Will have to wait and see. We have an event to go to and I wanted to be sure we'd have a room at a reasonable rate.

 

We've gotten offers from Boyd as well as The D after we were already booked. All it took was a phone call to have the room rate switched over to the offers. (comp).

 

That's been my experience with CET as well.

 

Are you saying when you log in to TR website to check your offers, all the ones covering the time of an existing reservation disappeared?

I just logged in and checked, and with a paid reservation in May, I still see all the same offers covering May as I have for any other month (and what I had before I booked).

 

No I am saying that once I have a reservation, they don't send new offers that would cover my dates. If I booked right now for the middle of August, future offers would skip the month of August or at least not cover the dates of my reservation. I can't book free nights through the calendar and expect a better offer with extras to come along. But its a YMMV situation. A higher level player may not have the same experience and may be able to trade one offer up for another.

 

So then if I am understanding this right, you see new offers for months surrounding your existing reservation, but a hole in those offers.

You maybe don't want to risk losing your existing offer, otherwise it would be an interesting experiment to see if you cancelled that reservation, would that hole in the offers suddenly fill that spot in the calendar, making the new offer available for your original dates.

 

It depends on what kind of offers you get, and on what type of schedule.

I get the same offer every two months for the last 3 years. It's good for room nights, freeplay, and resort credit. It covers an entire year.

The last one I got was in February. It has an April 20 book by date. I've already used it to book two reservations, one in July and one for next January. After it expires on April 20, shortly thereafter, I will get the same offer with a June 20 book by date. So my existing reservations never block me from getting those offers.

I also sometimes get offers with increased freeplay instead of resort credit. Those are usually targeted to certain months or even certain weekends. In the past, I have also gotten those when I already had a reservation booked for the period it covered. If I was receiving that type of offer regularly, and then it appeared to skip a month where I had an existing reservation, I wouldn't really know if I got skipped because of the reservation, or because of market-based reasons (ie. they didn't feel the need to give anybody that offer for that month).

 

I'm 7 Stars and when I book my 7 Stars Signature Event (for the August Las Vegas event) early in the year (as soon as the dates and choices are announced so as not to get locked out) I never get more CET Vegas offers for that period.

 

Those offers you're referring to that come every two months with a "book by the 20th" date and are good for more than a year are corporate loyalty offers. Those, AND the coupon offers that come in the back of Total Rewards magazine with free play and resort credit, are totally separate from regular marketing offers. They don't seem to be at all affected by current reservations.

So technically, offers don't completely stop once you have a reservation in the system, but normal regional offers seem to. It's been this way for as long as I can remember (Total Rewards diamond or 7 Stars since 2004).

Interesting. By "regional" do you mean geographic? I don't have any local CET joints and I never look at offers outside of Vegas.

Aside from those "book by the 20th" offers, I must average two or three emails a day with various CET Vegas offers, but they're all narrowly date-targeted and for dates in the near future. As we get closer, I'll look to see if I get any that cover dates I've already booked.

 

In my case the casino is Tuscany. I used to deal with the host but he's gone. At one time the player's club mgr stepped in and helped me. But these days they seem to want to only deal with whatever offer I have. The players club staff who made my reservation seems to think having the room booked won't stop me from getting a free offer later.

 

We're going to stay there one night in May. Hoping showing up and playing will increase our chances of getting an offer later.
