OK, on my last stay at V/P I totally forgot my starting point total. It's easy now because it resets on Jan 1. All I know is that I earned 104,000 Grazie Gift points. I am Platinum, so I earn status points at 2x. So is the earning of the gift points same or with no multiplier? Sorry if I am being confusing. I guess pretty much did I earn 50k status points or 100k...or grazie gifts points don't even figure out that way. Thanks!

I figured you probably get Grazie Gift Points at the same rate you get slot points.

But then I looked at the brochure and it seems to say Gift Points are only 1 point per $1 of theo (note the asterisk), which can't be right if you earned 104,000 - that's a tremendous amount of gambling.

Anyway, here's the earning schedule from the brochure, it might help you figure it out. It looks to me like you get:
Status Points from hotel spend and gaming
    Slot points from gaming only
    Gift points from gaming only

Thanks Chuck! So would you say that I had a theo of 5k for this past trip? I earn 20 status pts per "dollar theo win" for platinum and GG pts is earned same as status points...is the correct?

    When was your last trip?

If you log into your account today, what does it show for:
    • Status Points:
      • From Casino:
      • From Hotel:
    • Slot Reward Points:
    • Grazie Gift Points:

Let me put it this way - if Grazie Gift points are awarded at the same rate as you get slot points, then yes, 104,000 would imply a theo of $5,200, which could be anywhere from $25,000 to $50,000 coin in on slots. Does that sound like it matches up with your trip?

Yeah, I probably earned 100k status pts. Also I always convert my slot points earned to fp during the stay. Do you think they count those slot points converted against my comps?

Earned points that you can convert to freeplay or resort credit are considered part of your overall comps to begin with, whether you convert and use them or not. They sit in their own "bucket." So, no, the act of converting them to freeplay and then using them doesn't count against you.

Wait what? I had a coin-in of 69,000+ on my last trip to V/P, are you sure my theo was over $5,200? What does that imply for comps? Trying gauge how much coin-in I should aim for my next trip so I don't disappoint my host.

Theo on slots runs from about 6% or so on $5 machines to 15% on pennies.

If you did $69,000 coin in on slots, your theo would be somewhere between $4,140 and $10,530.

I had edited the coin in amount in my post, I was doing it off the top of my head and it's incorrect - it's too low - I was thinking about loss amount instead of theo. A more accurate amount of coin in to generate $5,000 in theo would be ~$35,000 on pennies up to $80,000 on $5 slots.

They were all $5+ slots...how are comps calculated? 10% of theo?

I mostly play $1 and $5 slots and I use 10% of coin in to ballpark theo, and it usually works out pretty well in terms of figuring out what type of room and throw-ins I'll get in offers. I don't know for sure which casinos/chains use exact theo and which use something less exact.
