I've been setting up reservations for my summer visit and realised that I have been a little "promiscuous" with my hotel affections. I'm travelling from the UK and will be in the US for three weeks, during which time I will be staying in at least five different hotels in Vegas (and two elsewhere). The reason for the hopping is to maximise my comp stays over the time I'm there. I have one night in Vegas at the Linq before heading off to the Grand Canyon for a walking holiday. When I come back, I'm staying at Caesars (5 nights), Wynn (3 nights), Aria (3 nights), and Rio (5 nights).

This probably seems like a lot of unnecessary moving around but the moving doesn't really bother me and it means I don't pay for a single night's accommodation in Vegas. I'm curious as to whether any of my fellow VMBers would suffer the inconvenience of multiple moves for the comp nights,or whether you'd rather stay put and pay for the privilege.

I'd do exactly as you did. I wouldn't "double book", but moving is a part of my style. My BFF, Les often changes hotels every night to take advantage of frequent traveler promotions.

If I stayed for 3 weeks, I would definitely move around. I only stay for 3-4 nights, so I usually stay in one place. The one time I stayed for 10 days, I moved 3 times to take advantage of comped rooms.

Usually stay at two hotels comp'd each stay, on occasion have stayed at three. Not crazy about the move itself, but do like the change in scenery. Like you and many others, why pay if the comps are there is my philosophy...

Best of luck on your upcoming trip - be sure to tell us all about your walking holiday at the Grand Canyon - sounds like a great adventure!

I room hop many times, but then even for 5 days, I never unpack my suitcase. I won't do it to save a few dollars, but for $100/nt I would. Personally, I would try to trade the Rio room for another CET room on the strip. Depending on your order of room stays, your action while staying at Caesars could qualify you for a better comp, so it couldn't hurt to talk to a host during your stay about rebooking.

The only time we change properties is if we're staying at least 6 nights. Coming in for Valentines week staying 4 nights at Paris and 2 at the Cosmo. We'd never consider changing if staying only 3 or 4 nights.

I try to use ends of one months offers and next months offer to get 14+- days. Oct - stayed 4 nights MSS(oct offer) and then went to Samstown 3 nights(oct offer) end of month Nov - back to MSS 4 night (Nov offer) and ended up at Mirage for 3 days comp (myvegas). Could have continued going back to Sams for Nov and then used 5 comp nights at Rio, but 2 weeks was enough.

Many times we've overlapped by a night to make the switch easier, no waiting for a room.

Definitely easier that way if you don't need the night to cover your entire trip. Much better than getting up, checking out, then having to check your luggage again with the bell desk because your room isn't ready and then wait again for the bags once it is ready. Plus it gives you flexibility on checking in at your leisure.

i think you're doing it right
i would never casino hop after just 1 night .. maybe not even 2
    because of the inconvenience
but you're staying at each property for at least 3 nights
it'll keep your trip more fresh

We have done this as well. We are out and walking ALOT, so we swing by the new hotel, check and get keys. If we really like the new room better, we might go get our bags and move in. If we don't feel like it, we move in the morning and KNOW our new room is ready for a early "move in".

(sadly, we are doing two hotels on next trip, but not overlapping at this point)

I change hotels 2 or 3 times on a 5 or 6 night visit. it has its pros and cons, but "free" is free. I never fully unpack. I usually have a little overlap as well.

I usually take some piece of luggage to the second hotel, mess up the bed, turn on the TV, and flush the toilet so they think we're actually staying there lol.

On our upcoming trip of ten days (leaving tomorrow!) we'll be staying at four different hotels. Aria for three nights, RR for two including SB party, Harrah's SoCal for two and Harrah's (yuck) for three but that includes tickets for JLo. We like to move around and don't unpack between hotel stays. Every time we move it seems like we're starting a new vacation. What can I say? We're comp whores and it has served us well over the years since we haven't paid for a room in Many years.

I despise moving. However on a on longer trip, it isn't as much of an issue. On a 6 night trip I will actually pay for the last night at CET vs. having to move. (Host will usually provide a better rate than displays online for the last night).

I have done 6 hotels in 5 days mostly booked in two hotels at a time with a couple 3 room nights so as to maximize comps before. Oddly I only moved my luggage once though.

I absolutely comp hop, and love it (I don't double-book, I just piggyback comp offers). We only play where we stay on the comp (so only accept comps at places we love), but it's like a new vacation each time we move.

The only downer is the stupid 11:00 am checkout time, but I'm getting to where I either comp late check out or pay it, just so I am not on someone else's schedule. $35 bucks one day versus $130+ for each day added on makes it well worth it for us!!!!

Now, one night is too much of a hassle for me (3 nights minimum per stay for the me to "hop" on the casino hop), but others are fine by one night. The beauty of Vegas is, there is no right answer, its what works for you personally.

Have a BLAST and I'm excited for your trip!

I get what you're saying about the Rio, but that particular move is because of the start of the WSOP Main Event. We've been to a couple of WSOPs previously but played lower buy-in events. This year, I'm going to try to satellite in to the $10,000 buy-in Main, so I want to be at the Rio so I can hit the satellites and hopefully make the Main as well.

We've stayed at the Rio previously during WSOP, so we know what we're letting ourselves in for but the convenience is a big plus for us.

I love the idea of overlapping the comps, but I don't have the MGM or Downtown offers to be able to achieve that and still fit in my 6 day gap between comps with CET.

When the time rolls around, I will live TR the trip like I tried to last year - https://www.vegasmessageboard.com/forums/index.php?threads/wsop-live-tr.132443/ - and hopefully report some more success than I achieved that time.

    Thanks for all the answers.

I plan my stays carefully to take advantage of all the comped offers that I have. While I try and overlap, I have been fortunate to check in quickly at my new hotel when that hasn't worked (MSS and Golden Nugget, the D), If I am staying for at least 2 nights, I partially unpack in the new spot. Gives me some time away from gambling and seems to me keep busy out of the casino for a few hours....lol

Usually if we stay 5 days or more, we switch rooms... And its usually 2 nights per hotel...... we LOVE the change. I feel like I'm on different vacations. This trip, we are only staying three nights so we are staying put. We also are not renting a car, so this will be a whole new experience for us. We have never stayed for this short of time.
