Most of the VP was at the few banks of machines in front of the sports book, with the high limit "room" behind you. Some was actually at the Ignite bar too - after I cleaned up on LiR last night, I figured I'd just spin off a couple of $20s to wind the evening down and clear a little more coin-in, then hit those 4 aces - which then inspired me to return to the aforementioned bank, where I hit the dealt 5-play 4OAK. That was pretty much the point of the evening where I decided to lock in the win. Some of the dollar VP was actually elsewhere though, at a yet-to-be-named VP bar at a different property (see post above)...

Definitely a fantastic run last night. Ended up about $800 on the day yesterday, putting me up around $300 total for the trip. Believe it or not, I mostly have LiR to thank for that - all the VP hits were needed to simply dig myself back out of the 4OAK drought from the previous night/morning. The free play was an absolute dud, too - doubled it with a hundo of my own, ran the collective $200 through a $5, 2-credit machine in the high limit "room." Boom. I'll take "How to Vaporize $200," Alex.

Today is moving day, so will wrap things up here at MC in the morning, pack up, and head over to the Rio for the convention and a change of gambling venue for the next two nights. I'm contemplating what my approach / goals will be w.r.t. VP at Gold Coast...

Incidentally, speaking of the MC high limit "room," this more or less sums up my thoughts....

Where is this? It looks like a decent cup of coffee. In Las Vegas! It can't be a Starbucks, can it?!

Sambalatte...out at the front of Monte Carlo, right on the strip. Can even sit outside if the weather is nice.

Incidentally, Thanks for the reminder, I'm off to reload on some more coffee!

    Edited to add the menu...

Very nice report, happy for your good fortune. Please let us know if the GC still has a dozen or so Bac tables, all seemingly occupied by Asians.

    Wow, was that really Whoopie?

I heard that the convention was sold out, was it that crowded? I was checking online for tickets and the outlets said that they were sold out.

Been awhile since we had a convention in Hawaii. There was a comic con last week and Takei was there, along with Summer Glau (yum) and Erin Gray. At one of the Hawaii Star Trek Conventions I had a table to sell my ST stuff. Mostly cards from their ST series (st, NG, Voyager, DS9) and from the game and I did make a little money but I missed out on all the other stuff so I never had a table again.

Thanks for the comments! I've never been in the Gold Coast before, but looking forward to exploring, some lower limit tables, and some much more friendly VP pay tables!

Any thoughts RE: food options over there? I just had lunch but my stomach is already starting to plan ahead...lol

Yup, that was Whoopi. Was a great panel to listen to. Kirstie Alley is on stage currently. Both first time trek convention appearances.

And that's a good point about having a table at a con - hadn't thought about having to miss everything else, that'd be a bummer.

As to crowd - 5k people are here they announced. FAR more people than the last time I was here in 2014. Great to see all the people. I grabbed a couple shots from the far back of the room when Takei was on stage earlier, definitely a packed house.

My favorite 2 Chinese restaurants are at the GC. The first is Ping Pong Pang...but I like that best for their great dim sum served at lunch time. The second is right across the casino. They serve a really cool dish called "Hot Pot". You get a burner with a bowl of boiling broth and a plate of veggies and meats. You add the stuff to the pot as you eat and at the end you have a great bowl of noodle soup to finish off your appetite. It's fun, filling and soooo good.

9/6 Jacks at the bar if you're willing to play 50c+, 9/6 DDB w/STP for quarters. Lots of good VP there.

May be staying there a bit next month too...*fingers crossed*

Keep the quads coming and find a Royal!

Thanks! The VP options are endless there compared to MC, I was like a kid in a candy store. Had a good meal then spent a few hours bouncing from machine to machine. I'm a sucker for STP, multi strike, etc. And now Dream card, apparently! Was losing money on those, though, so moved to single line at the bar and was clawing my way back with a great run of 4OAKs.

A few general thoughts about GC, as it was my first visit (besides the aforementioned giant +1 for VP)
    1) I like the layout. I tended to rotate back around the Red Zone bar area.
    2) super fast drink service. Seriously, it was a struggle to keep pace at times.*
    3) many, many bac tables. All were packed. (As were the $5 black jack tables)
    4) seemed much more quiet and subdued compared to the party pit atmosphere across the street at the rio.
    5) is that place built like a bunker or something? My phone service would not work at all, hence the radio silence.
    6) great convenience store prices. Don't shop at rio, man that store is pricey in comparison.

*if only some "genius" wouldn't have decided that playing high limit slots on the way out the door was a good idea, said "genius" would currently be even for the trip.

Plans for today: back to GC for breakfast buffet and a few hours of (strictly single line traditional) video poker, then back to Rio for another day of the convention. Three captains on stage today!

DDB never seems to like me though, basically a hundred dollar bill shredder whenever I've played for any major length of time...It just doesn't like me!

Apparently like the 10 of spades.

Looks like a good trip so far with some nice hits. Speaking of Star Trek, we just went to see the new movie at Red Rock, and it was fantastic. 2 thumbs up from both of us. Convention looks interesting. Continued success for the remainder of your trip.

Down 200 on the morning, after about 2k coin in (half on quarters, half on 50. All of the losses came from 50...)

    More Star Trek!
