    Hello guys and girls,
I just registered on this site and this would be my first post.

I have been to Vegas a couple of times (both trips solo). The first was in 2012 and the next in 2015 July. I am looking to be back again this year in July and hopefully repeat every year. Unfortunately with a minimum of a 18 hour flying time, it's quite a tedious trip.

Looking forward to be a part of this forum.

    Welcome to VMB.
I guess I should stop whining about a 4 hour flight.

You really should .... Did I mention the minimum 3 hour layover in LA and the jetlag (11 hr time difference) that goes with it ?

The first time I was in NYC for a week, Vegas for 3 days and then went to SFO for a week so it was worth it. Last year I was in NYC for 4 days, Vegas for 4 days, NYC again for a night, This time is all Vegas from 21st July to 28th July. Oh ! guess what, I've never gambled.

I can drive there in 16 hours. ;) Where do you fly out of? I'm not sure I could do 18 hrs on a plane.

Sonya, I've done tons of road trips lasting several hours at a stretch but confined to a seat in an airplane is a nightmare especially since I am not someone who can sleep on a plane nor am I a TV / movie person. I'm flying out of Dubai and it's a non stop flight into LA that's 16:30 hours + 3 hrs lay over + 1:10 minutes into Vegas.

18hr was a typo, unable to edit.

That's why I prefer to drive. I like being able to get out of the car and wander around. I usually make the drive from Seattle - Vegas with my dog, so she encourages me to get out and explore places I normally wouldn't stop. :)

I'm good for about 2 hours on a plane and then I want to get out. Not good when you're over an ocean. :haha:

Are you going to gamble on this trip to Vegas? I'm a Video Poker degenerate. I can't imagine going to Vegas and not spending time in front of a VP machine.

To be honest, I've never gambled only because I've not be introduced to it and don't know how to use the machines. I don't mind giving it a go if someone were to introduce me ...:D

My trips usually include the spa, buffets, some time at the pool, socialising at bars, visiting the shooting range, some shows, and let loose. I've always travelled alone and never really had any exposure to gambling. Besides, my luck traditionally is inclined towards loosing money on bets :(

That's true, very lavish and luxurious and the service levels are usually outstanding. Besides the awesome weather (not). Currently its about 107 F with about 80% humidity and this is the beginning of Summer.

When you live here, you become a part of the fake lifestyle as well that people try very hard to portray.... :bang:

I believe 18 hours total round trip or you mean one way? Didnt read the other replies yet sorry.

I wish I had that kind of fly time to Vegas! That way I wouldnt be tempted to go so much!
For me, I could fly there in 45 minutes. Or a 4-5 hour drive.

    Anyways, welcome!

Welcome, its a 3 hour flight for us out of Seattle so I shouldn't complain. Hopefully you have a great trip, I know I'm looking forward to my next visit...

Welcome - I think you'll find this a very friendly, welcoming board. If you ever decide to give the gamble a try, lots of good advice can be found here. In the meantime, enjoy all the things you've enjoyed doing in the past in Vegas - as well as some new ones - you'll never run out of things to do.

Hey thank you. I do find this board very helpful and welcoming. Infact, I find myself constantly checking for updates and new threads.

You are right, i never run out of things to do in Vegas and one thing I've always wanted to cover was the Fremont area. Strangely, never did it and hope to cover it this time. However, i love the fact that people are so approachable in Vegas and friendly in general it's the same all over the US except that everyone is on holiday and tend to be happier while in Vegas. Flying solo, I prefer to come to the United States rather than Europe where I find that it takes a lot longer to get people to smile and start a conversation. Nothing against Europe but my holiday tends to be over before i start a decent conversation with people I don't know :)

18 hours? Yeouch! If it were anywhere but Vegas, I'd almost say it wasn't worth it.
It's about a nine hour drive from where we are in California and I thought that was bad. I'll never complain again. :nworthy:
