    Hey all,

I would not mind heading out to Red Rocks for a hike on my next trip. I thought about renting a car threw priceline and getting it at the airport for my whole stay. But really, I would not use it much, to have for 4 days.

So, to get to Red Rocks(and back) is there any shuttles or buses that run from center strip and back? That would be relatively timely(every 15-30mins)

I know Uber/Cab would get me there no problem, but was not sure how readily available they would be hanging around on the way back.

Lastly, I thought about checking into just seeing about a 1-2 day rental car from the desk at my hotel. I read on the car rental sticky thread that it costs more to get it from the hotel than the airport, but how much more?

For my upcoming trip, the dollar location at TI was the same price as the Swenson location, and both were substantially less than the airport..

You can take the Sahara express to Red Rock Casino. This is less than 2 miles from the edge of the conservation area. Maybe take an Uber from there to the visitor center? Sahara express picks up just north of the SLS casino on the far north end of the strip.

Could you give me a ballpark on what it would cost per day at the hotel?

Go to Dollar.com and check the price (most of the strip hotels have rental agencies so check them all). They change all the time. As far as Red Rock goes, the shuttles will take you to RR casino but you're on your own getting to the RR National Conservation area. Uber/Lyft will take you there but it would probably be expensive from the strip. I, too, would check out rental cars from the strip-much less hassle and you can drive around the area. There are MANY hiking trails in RR.
I just checked Dollar at TI and a one day rental for a random date in April was $44.

Ace: The prices fluctuate just like at the airport. I (re)booked my car on Feb 25th for $17.10/per (add taxes to make it $27 or so a day)
The four day plus 2 hr rental totals $108. Two days after booking, the rate went to $20+ per day and is currently $35 per day.
Just like using the airport location, I would reserve when you get a rate you are comfortable with, check back from time to time in case
the rate drops and rebook if needed.

Ace, have you considered doing an actual tour hike? A tour hike will be a little more expensive, but they bring you to/from Red Rock Canyon to/from Strip/Downtown hotels: http://www.blm.gov/nv/st/en/fo/lvfo/blm_programs/blm_special_areas/red_rock_nca/recreation/outfitters_and_guides.html

Or you can just take a tour of the 13 mile loop for about $80-$85. You can use mini vans, bicycles, scooters, horses, etc.
All these tours pick you up/drop off at most Strip and Downtown hotels, so you won't have to rent a car but get to experience Red Rock.

A one day rental from your hotel would be the most flexible option and fairly inexpensive. Spend as much or as little time as you want hiking and the exhibit area. The exhibits and people working there are very knowledgeable and helpful.

You would also be able to check out Rampart, Suncoast and Redrock casinos in the area.

I would definitely go the car rental route.

    Enjoy.

Edit: Also I don't always have cell reception out there so don't expect to be able to summons Uber or a Cab easily.
