Yep. I just got that email. Good to know that there does not APPEAR (emphasis) to be a major reduction in benefits. I love that our benefits kick in earlier. For me the "comped" flights kicking in earlier is great.

OK, I didn't quite get what they meant by " . . .benefits kicking in sooner."

I reached 7* in September. I have been enjoying the benefits since then, and expect to enjoy them through 2016.

Can someone explain what " . . .benefits kicking in sooner." means?

Well, I get that to mean that if you didn't make the same level, you would lose benefits sooner.

I don't see how you would get benefits any earlier.

I posted this question to CET, let's see what they say.

I typically take a Vegas trip around Easter time, which sometimes falls in March. I have long since used my $1250 and $750 airfare comps for Seven Stars/Diamond Aspirations for 2015/2016.

My upcoming trip may start late March though end in April. Under the old schedule I wouldn't be able to use my $1250 Seven Stars airfare benefit until April 1st at the earliest and since they would keep the benefits "secret" up until the last minute last year my host couldn't book my early April trip way in advance. Now, with the 2016/2017 Seven Stars year kicking in in February, I will have my host in February book my late March/April trip with the $1250 airfare for my mother and me. Under the old schedule I would likely have had to use the $1250 for a trip later in the year and actually buy two RT tickets for mom and me. I feel pretty confident about trips leading into NYE and post Easter but not other times of the year so I like to use my airfare benefits earlier in the year. The new schedule better enables me to do that.

I still do not get the "earlier" comment above. As soon as you reached your level in 2015, they "kicked in".

    Help us dummies understand.

I am assuming it means you can use your "Yearly perks" (e.g. celebration dinner) a month earlier.
Ultimately it is taking 2 months away for anyone who did not renew the status, for those who did renew it.. Not much changes at all.

exactly as @guy states. In the past, you would have to wait until April of the year following in order to redeem your awards dinner or other eligible awards, apparantly now, you will be able to redeem those rewards starting in February

Exactly. We don't have to wait until April 1, 2016, to be able to use the benefits we earned in 2015. But… for those who don't RENEW their status, they will lose their benefits 2 months earlier than it has been for years.

Actually, it's just another cut by CET. I'm sure they'll save a ton of money cutting out 2 months of diamond lounge privileges for non-renewals.

I think the only benefit I ever used was the $100 dining credit, and I always used that in the summer. So I never knew about the earliest you could redeem it. But as mentioned, the latest you could use it probably also moved earlier.
