We have a "guy's trip" scheduled in early September and we are seriously considering renting a cabana at Moorea Beach Club. We think this could be a great way to have a good time at the pool and catch some of the football action on the TV in the cabana at the same time. Most of us are staying at the Delano and will be splitting the cabana cost between 6-8 of us.

We have it narrowed down to either the "standard" cabana or the "Villa Soleil" up on the 3rd floor. I like the way the Villa looks with views over both Moorea and Mandalay Beach, especially after seeing the pics & videos in JDVegas' trip report from his visit to the Delano. My buddy prefers the standard cabana - he wants to be down near the action and is worried that the "views" from the Villa will not be great. Price is not a factor as it is almost identical between the two.

Does anyone have any experience or opinions regarding one or the other? Or should we save the money and get a lagoon cabana for about half the price?

    Thanks!

Would you prefer to be in the middle of the party or secluded up above it. I think that is the difference

I think we are leaning towards being in the party. My buddy certainly does. I probably will not mind the more "exclusive" feel to the villa, though.

The standard cabanas at MB are really very nice. You get the same exact service by a hostess, reserved seating, a tv, shade, and a safe. They are also right in the middle of things, so you feel like part of the party.

The rooftop one would be more secluded and feel kind of exclusive. Never been up there but I believe they are up a floor from the beach casino, so the views should be similar to that. Don't put too much stock in the thought of looking at topless girls at Moorea. Most are wearing swim suits, and honestly, the scenery in the main pool was better.

Remember also that on a not busy day, you can negotiate with the cabana office and get a cheaper rate or upgrade.

Don't forget about daylight either if something good is going on. That will draw many stunning women.
