I'm considering switching to Aria for my next trip, partly because of the location and partly because I would really like to check out the gym area and get a spa pass. I've looked at the virtual tour of the gym online but I still have a few questions I'm hoping someone might be able to answer.

    1. My favorite cardio machine is the rower (I know weird. I never see anyone else on it at my gym here) and I didn't see one in the tour but I couldn't really see all of the equipment. Treadmill is my backup as I'm assuming no rower?

    2. How busy is the gym at Aria on the weekends? Because of work commitments, I'll need to fly in on a Friday afternoon and out on Monday this trip.

Any other tips about the gym or spa are welcome. Thanks.

I had a quick peek on my way to the pool last fall. It looks quite good. I was there in the morning, mid week. it was dead... but the starbucks lineup was long :)

It's the best gym I've been to in Vegas and one of the best hotel gyms anywhere.

It will be busy on the weekend but there should be enough equipment to go around.

Not sure on the rower but there are tons of treadmills.

Katmu, I think there is a rowing machine, but I am not 100% certain on that. I think I saw one last trip there, but I could be imagining it.

As for weekends, it is very busy up through lunch, less busy in the afternoons and evenings. Even busy, however, I have never had trouble finding an available machine (including on some very busy weekends for the hotel)

That is pretty much the same at any gym. Rowers are probably the best all around cardio machines but hardly anyone uses them or uses them wrong.

There are a bunch of pictures of Aria's gym floor on oyster and I don't see a rower, whether Concept2 or anything else. Look here: http://www.oyster.com/las-vegas/hotels/aria-resort-and-casino-las-vegas/photos/amenities/

Oddly enough, the gym next door at lower-priced Monte Carlo has some more useful equipment than other hotel gyms like a power rack and stair climber, but no rower either.

Thanks for the replies. I'm going to assume no rower so I guess I'll get some cross-training in.

The weight area doesn't look quite as big as what I might expect but since I'll probably only get 2 workouts in I can manage.

Katmu, not sure if your trip has already happened, but I just left the Aria gym, and as I suspected, there is one rower tucked away in the corner

Not yet. Looking at either the 2nd half of April or early June depending on how much progress I can make in the next couple of weeks on this data warehouse project.

Thanks. I think that seals Aria for me.

The gym at Aria is very nice. I am a bit spoiled as my gym here in Chicago is very well equipped, clean, relatively uncrowded, etc. I am usually disappointed when I have to push through a workout at a crap hotel gym but I don't feel that way at Aria. It's obviously not as spacious as my home gym but the cardio and weight equipment are every bit as up to date and functioning as my gym here. For a hotel gym, it is pretty sweet. The gym at the Cosmo on the other hand? Awful. The ceilings are low and it's way too tiny.

I'm shooting for five workouts in the six days that I'm there next month but I have a feeling I'm delusional (as usual).

I've used the gym at Aria and its good. The free weight area is small compared to say Wynncore but it has most of what you need. I couldn't find anything to do proper squats with for instance, but some goblet squats did the trick. There is also a studio space tucked around the corner that will give you a lot more room if its not being used, which it never was when I was there. There's some fun things in there like martial arts dummies and medicine balls.

I think I'm as excited about the gym as I am about anything else at Aria.

I usually get most of my workouts in while I'm in vegas but never quite as many as I plan. So I'm planning on 3 workouts in a 3 night trip, but I would be content if I can get in 2.

Good to know. An ideal workout for me is some time on the rower to warm-up and then some free weights or kettle bells and then more time on the rower. The studio space might come in handy.
