with each passing year I watch and wager on less NFL than the previous year
right now about 75% of my football action is on college and 25% on NFL
I won't be betting either NFL championship game this week

College football is much more difficult to bet, IMHO. Outside of a few teams every year in college, there's very little consistency from game to game. That's also the reason I stay away from betting college basketball as well. Too many teams, too many players, too many variables for me to remember and understand. The upside is the number of games and that they score up until the last minute of play... always keeping you in the game.

College is fun to watch. It's much harder for me to bet.

I will be betting the championship game tonight. Still trying to decide how to bet it though, but I think I'd like to bet a teaser on it if I can.

Taking the points and the over.

I look for misleading scores in college games. Games can turn dramtically in college with a turnover or kick return and snowball from there.

I try to watch as many college games as I can plus I just enjoy the game more than the NFL

Unless the Bears are playing or I have a bet on the game I'm probably not watching the NFL

I like the Buckeyes and the under. The Buckeyes can't keep up with the Ducks in a shootout, so for them to keep it close, I think it has to be a little lower scoring than that total. Although I'm an Ohioan, I will need the action to have me rooting for the Bucks.

I didn't bet the game yet.
If the line kept falling I was going to bet Oregon. I just don't have a handle on how good OhioSt is.
I think the OhioSt pass defense might be vulnerable but not enough for me to bet the game.

For me it boils down to the head coach. Not trying to take away anything from Helfrich, it's just that Urban Meyer is a veteran head coach with two national championships and other numerous awards.

Could go either way, but I'll take the points in that kind of chess game.

Exactly what I was thinking before I realized. Urban Meyer isn't on the field. He isn't executing the plays. I respect his coaching ability, but in the end, it's the players on the field that will decide the outcome.

I'm an Oregon alma mater (73-76), still sticking with them. I have $500 down, $300 On the Ducks -7 and $200 on a parlay with the Ducks -7 and the over 74.5. This was financed by the Ducks win over FSU.

That Helf-ain't-Meyer thing means little for a team like the Ducks. It's just not the dynamic of the organization or the business model. He probably delegates more than any other coach at the elite level, has little to no ego. He sets the process in motion, call it a tone, and the machine purrs. The kids are so much a part of the system.

DaiLun, you were there a few years before I got started. What area of study?

I talked to an alum of Ohio State today. He was convinced Ohio State would win by 7.

    lol

    There is that.

Of course, Heinous Jameis got whacked by 39 and still insists it could've gone either way.

Going into halftime it could have. Afterwards, not so much.

Interesting take on college vs pro - you're one of the few who I have heard say they prefer the NFL over the NCAA.

In my experience I have always done better in college because of the variables at play. You can usually isolate a handful of games where the lines are loose. I remember a couple years ago I was raking it in with K-State and Western Kentucky because they were always at good numbers. That's not to say that I haven't taken a whippin' in college either...most of the time the beatings I take are reserved for NFL games lol

The NFL lines usually are razor sharp. One thing I hate about betting college? The KICKERS!!!

I am on Oregon this evening.

Was just watching the Big 10 network. They were confident that Ohio State will win.

    That's why it's a four-quarter game. Winston is just as punk-ass fool.

This game was a measuring stick for a program like Oregon and they just aren't there yet. In big games they've gotten constantly overwhelmed by the blue bloods with NFL lines (OSUx2, Auburn, LSU, etc) and they got whipped again tonight. They were an excellent team this year but they were up against it no matter who won the Sugar.

Anyone on the board get the Buckeyes when they were 100-1? I'm kicking myself for not getting them at 8-1 the week before Christmas. I took them on the ML against 'Bama and bought several $25 tickets at 8-1 as Christmas gifts for friends and family, but forgot to put one in for me.

I guess the books get beat up on the futures, they were looking for a close Oregon win to clean up.
