If a player wins 2 hands in a row and are not in the blinds they are forced to post a 2nd BB. The stakes double to 8/16 and stay there until that player loses a hand.

1/2 kill means after a kill hand is established, the next hand will be at a limit 1.5x the usual blinds. So, on a kill hand on a 4/8 table, the game will be 6/12 for that hand. Different casinos have different rules for what triggers a kill hand...some you have to win 2 hands in a row, while others base it on the size of the pot.

A Full-Kill game would make the 4/8 become an 8/16 game, on the Kill hand.

You don't have to pay the kill in the blinds? In my experience you do, but I only play kills in Omaha8 games ("scoops" beyond 8 big bets or so trigger a kill).

"Scoop" = one person winning a pot. I think holdem kills are sorta stupid.

Who said you didn't? If your in the blinds with the kill button there would be one BB and one SB. If not you would post a second BB making 2 BB and one SB. The amounts would increase to the kill limits.

In my experience, the "killer" posts his kill (2X normal big blind) and the small blind (1/2 normal big blind) and big blind (normal big blind) act accordingly. I've folded my big blind in a limped kill pot way too many times with crap like Q964...is this not how a full kill works in either game? And with half-kill, substitute 2X with 1.5X obviously.

If you post a kill in the blinds, you just post the amount of the kill bet, which covers any blinds you need to post that hand.

Tring, I follow what you are saying and that is what I am used to seeing. Let's see if I can expound without adding confusion...lol.

Person with the Kill Button will post the Kill amount, whether in a Blind position or not. This person is last to act preflop, no matter his/her position at the table. SB and BB will maintain normal blind amounts, except when person with Kill Button is one of the Blinds...in this case the Kill will replace his Blind bet with the Kill bet.

At 3/6 or 4/8 the BB is calling 99% of the time.

This is kind of difficult to do, since kill games exist in a weird place where house rules govern. Also, the kill blind kind of looks like a Mississippi straddle or a rock, so you can get some weirdness there.

If you want only accurate information, in a 1/2 kill game the stakes will at some point go from 4/8 to 6/12. In kill pots, there will be a kill blind somewhere. Other than that ask the dealer what the rules are.

Well, your screen name fits when you ended your post right there instead of telling us what you think is accurate. And bigal is right, it varies by location in my experience. In St. Louis, player to the left of the big blind acts first preflop and the "killer" is skipped until last in an unraised pot. In Tunica, the player to the left of the "killer" acts first.

Um, except for that part, the last two replies were limited to accurate information. I assume that's what the OP wanted. Thanks for playing.

Oh, and thanks for not including a bad beat story in the thread, everyone. :grrr:

If a player wins a hand they get a leg up button. If they win the next hand, and the pot is more than 10x the small blind, then the next pot is a kill pot. At this point the blinds wil go up to 1.5x or 2x for the next hand and the winner is forced to put a small bet in on the kill button which they'll have the option to raise on when it comes to them. The big and small blind still only have to put in their normal blinds but will have to match the raised blinds to stay in the hand.
I like them in limit hold em at lower stakes because it makes for some action pots, and if you are a solid player you can pull down huge pots. Many players get scared of the higher limit and fold hands they might otherwise play, allowing you to outplay others post flop.

Always ask when you act as a posted kill. Most of the time it is last as sindustry states. I have played in games where you acted in turn. While SB and BB post normal blind amounts, they will have to meet the kill bet at some point or fold.

A half kill in 3-6 limit generally means 5-10.

I have never been in a kill game where posting the kill was optional.

However, if you don't want to play a kill game and make that known in a game that has no kill, but has players who want a kill and have asked for the game to be changed to a kill or half kill, you can veto the adoption of kill pots. Also, if the table sentiment is for a full kill, you can offer to compromise on a half kill. Any kill decision is not a majority rules decision in a game that has been started with no kill. It is unanimous or does not happen. The Golden Nugget used to do kill games all the time, but I don't join too many now. Last visit I did suggest a half kill at a 2-4 and no one vetoed the suggestion so we went to half kill. Since I like 3-6 games, I like to have that half kill. Also, I am a tight player, so my odds of getting stuck with what turns out to be a third blind are slim.
That being said, in a small pot hand which would make you the kill guy in the next hand, you need to take that into consideration when figuring whether to risk a call or not just as you do if you suspect a split pot at best if you call.
You also should think through the position you will be in when you post the kill. That is one reason you need to know when the kill acts in the game you are in. Will you be posting a kill in bad position? After the flop the kill guy will act normally. It is an advantage then to be in good position. And because you will play more hands when you have posted a kill, it is better to be able to see the flop, see the action, and then decide how long to stay with your cards then to be stuck with bad cards in some early position after the flop.
