VMB HAS A CHAT? Why doesn't anyone use it?

I have been here off and on for a while, and I have checked the Chat room periodically and have never seen anyone in the chat, ever.

What is the reason, please?

 

I surely can not speak for others, but....

1 - Did not know it was there, but would not be active for many reasons.

2 - I look for a wide range of information to learn and respond to. Anyone on the chat at a given moment maybe talking about things I could care less about.

3 - There is no "history" or reference for chat.

4 - I pop on and off here at random times to see what is new. Sitting here for 10-15-20-30 minutes is not going to happen.

5 - Biggest reason (tongue in cheek) - do I really want to chat with a fellow degenerate?

 

I used to use the old one. I'd like to use that one. I used to hang out in the chat room while giving out Halloween candy. But......nobody joined me this year....

 

I LOVE CHATTING WITH DEGENERATES ... It seems more real time than the forum process although this is a very good one.
I was just wondering. Being a talker makes me like the faster pace of the chat. TY for your response.

 

It's a known fact that degenerates are the most fun.

I think if there was some kind of thingamadoodle that shows if anybody is in the chatroom or how many people etc, maybe that would make the chat function more popular?

I have actually never seen anyone in there. Maybe some of us who WANT TO could have a Themed Chat or a VEGAS ONLY chat or whatever other idea makes sense sometime.

 

Lola, that is a great idea ... maybe the Web Master could arrange a Chat counter in the Chat Button since it shows on the Forum Page as a Button Link to the chat room. SONYA ... Please make it so! [Praying Hands]

Please add a thingamadoodle to the website to tell people if there are chatters in the chat room.

That's ok ... Just come in and say HI ... if there is something going on that sparks a comment or two ... join in ... otherwise roam the Forum like we all do now. It wouldn't be a mainstay except for those who want it to be. Everyone else can visit and say HI then move on to what interests them more.

 

I've had some hilarious chats with people. The one guy (I think it was a guy) he must have been loaded, he was talking about his last trip to Vegas and I'm sure it was all bs and he would casually mention that something or other gave him an STD. Like, a stool, a potted plant, etc. Better than a comedy club. It was a God-send when I was recovering from surgery and whatnot too. I could lay in bed with the laptop and chat with Vegas loving people. There was big chunks of time where I had no hope in hell of getting back to Vegas but it was nice to hear about other people's trips and keep up with things.

 

Indeed ... That is what I like about chat ... it doesn't have to be rigid or boring ... it can just be about the most innocuous things or a particular bet on craps ... ANYTHING at all. Or old friends catching up on what's up with the family and planning their next trip to Sin City. I sure hope we can get the webmaster to put that User Count in the Chat button so we know there are people actively chatting or even lurking in the chat waiting for someone else.

 

In the past I used to go in to the chat pretty regularly to see who was around, but it was always just a small clique of 5-6 people that talked to each other but not to anybody else.

Then they pretty much left and it was more chatty, but it was pretty rare to find anybody in there.

After that I tried to go in there but the system asked me for an ID and password, of which my one for the board didn't work so I couldn't get in to chat.

Now its an IRC channel. I've peeked in there from time to time, but never seen anybody in there. I think somebody could hang out there and wait to see if somebody showed up, but unless you keep an eye on the window you might never know if somebody was showing up or not.


I think the thing to do might be to try and schedule a chat. Like make a post saying something like you want to chat and then give a date and time (specifying time zone too) and see how many show up.

 

Any Seinfeld fans on here?

 

Food for thought Auggie ... thanks ... Maybe Sonya will notice this and put out a Poll or a Question asking people if they would once again like a chat. Maybe it could be set up so that our username to get into the forum could ALSO be our username to get into the chat or do away with the username altogether so as to in effect make it where if you are signed into the forum you are also signed in to the chat IF you enter the chat.

How about it Sonya? Would you be amenable to this or is someone else responsible for this area?

 

What I found odd was people popping in, not saying a word, leaving. Popping in again. I did my best to greet everybody but I'm a fast typer so the screen would move up and it might have looked like I was talking to somebody and didn't give a crap about them. But, I would talk to anybody. I wasn't waiting for anybody in particular or anything.

 

If people know it is there for everyone to use ... then it will be used ... chat rooms are just that way, then we could have a chat room thread to announce certain "Themed Chats or Big Important Discussions" and such ... then people would see it in the thread and know it is for everyone and then they would show up and participate.

 

Stream some porn through there, people will show up.
