You should have seen the prices for the easter weekend. Westjet was 1800 all in for two people. Allegiant we ended up going for $430 (bags and seats included). The dates and flight times weren't as good but for $1400 savings I'll take it.

As for the OP. As long as free rooms and food keep coming, I'll keep going. Being able to re-allocate 500-1000 dollars from hotel/food expenses to gambling and entertainment is what keeps me going back.

    Try £700 stirling return

If I had to start paying over £1k for my flights and no more free room comps then I would seriously have to start reconsidering my gambling location. I love Vegas for tons of reasons but paying through the nose to get my kicks irk's me on end.:poke:

If the following were to happen

    1) no smoking in the casino (amazed how many people are "Vegas-only smokers", I do enjoy my pipe or an occasional cigar in Vegas and would miss them if they were no longer allowed)

    2) no more free drinks (the most basic of comp but the one I would miss the most if it went)

    3) no more free rooms (as hotel prices seem to have climbed everywhere the bargain of a free room becomes even more noticeable)

    4) more than a 6 hour drive to/from Los Angeles (I enjoy the drive but if it gets to the point where I have to hit the road at 2 in the morning to avoid traffic I won't bother with my side trips to Vegas when I am visiting friends in Los Angeles)

    5) flights get more way expensive/flight experience gets too much worse (I would happily pay $800-1000 RT from Calgary if it was a business class level of comfort and service or better but I find $500-700 dollars to fly like cattle ridiculous.

If they stopped comping a portion of meals and eliminated free play offers I would be upset but still keep going but the above will be the dealbreakers.

If flights and rooms were to go way up in price. I've never paid more than $200 for a flight and for the last couple years my rooms have always been comped.

For me not to go to Vegas it would take death.
And perhaps even after death, I'll go.

    Sometimes I feel like this.

It's funny that we think we have caps for which we would go no further...but would we really? Maybe the average Vegas goer who may go every 5 years but not most of the regulars on this board. Resort fees have doubled my initial costs, all dives on the strip are being redone upscale, $1 tables have long disappeared, and slots are so tight, I struggle to get my money inside sometimes. Started at $250 flight just a few years ago and now it's up to $500-600 RT domestically. The worst has really already occurred for me. And I press on :confused2:

I will suggest some hypothetical caps because I am not sure it will actually work since I continue to go under worsening conditions.
-The strip gets demolished and not resurrected.
-Prices multiply by a factor of 10.
-There are no longer any shows.
-They suck all the pools dry.
-They make it more businessy and the strip more residential...losing its all-tourist always-on vibe.

Yeah, I think that spoiled you a bit. That's about the cheapest price I have found from St. Louis. I would think sub-$400 would be a decent price for many East Coast cities. The highest from STL I am looking to pay is about $300.

As for the OP, flights and hotel creeping up in price. Free drink restrictions would do it too.

Almost at that point. The airfare is kicking my butt and resort fees are killing my budget, too. I can't justify going to Vegas over and over when the same money could get me to somewhere new worth seeing.

Probably $2k airline tickets and no comps would be the deal breaker.

Sometimes I forget how lucky I am.

#1. I now live here so it would probably take death...or the company moving me to another base against my will.

#2. I don't pay for airfare. I haven't paid for domestic airfare since 2006 when I got my airline industry job. I did pay about 500 bucks to go to Thailand last December but that was a 90% discount on the walk up fare at the time plus taxes. Not bad for traveling half way around the world. So when I do want to escape the heat, or need to get out of town for one reason or another the options available to me are limitless.

#3. I don't pay Resort Fees now that I live in LV. That doesn't mean I've abandoned my petition to Senator Reid asking for the abolishment of all resort fees at www.change.org/petitions/sen-harry-reid-require-the-abolition-of-resort-fees

#4. I'm not much of a drinker or a gambler most of the time. I gamble usually only when I have a coupon. However They have 1 dollar blackjack at Riviera that I'm hoping to check out. 1 dollar craps at the Jokers Wild in Henderson. So I have a cheap way to blow through a few bucks and maybe even make some $$$. Heck I made 90 dollars the other day off of free play coupons from the LVA and ACG.

In the spirit of this thread however I will say that I would stop coming to town if I didn't live here IF....

#1. No more free drinks at the casinos. Even though I'm not much of a drinker I still feel the drinks should flow like water in casinos.

#2. The low limits tables go away. Anything more than 5 dollars and I start to get the shakes.

#3. Casino Gaming was outlawed. This town would literally cease to exist overnight and become a ghost town. The resorts would be shuttered and no one would fly here. I'd probably even lose my job flying the tourists here.

Thats all I can think of for now.

For me, on a personal basis:

    Death.

    Health deteriorates.

    Financial ruin.

    And if Vegas eliminates:

    Free drinks.

    Low limits ($5.00, $10.00)

Table games and replace them with machines (craps, roulette)

    Free rooms.

And finally, if Downtown loses it's laid back, down to earth charm and evolves into a Strip wannabee....:poke:

These things would cause me to no longer have the strong urge to go:

    - No more 'free' drinks when gambling

    - Casino's moving completely to E-Table games (i.e. no cards/chips/dealers)

    - If rooms all got too expensive. I don't go enough for free rooms, but the rooms there are really cheap compared to other parts of the county. I had an awesome GO room at Flamingo last time for about 1/2 what I pay for a Holiday Inn Express here at a random town in the Midwest when traveling for work.

    - If I could sports bet at my local casino's (wouldn't totally cause me to stop going, but that's something I really like about Vegas that I can't do here)
