Very sorry for your loss Breeze. I did not serve in the military (came of age a few years following at the end of Vietnam), but having been to several military funerals, I'm always reminded of the honor and respect such service deservedly commands. You lost a good friend... we lost another hero.

If you go to the ANC website, it has all of the qualifications listed. Not to be morbid, but most funeral homes will make all of the arrangements for you. You will need a DD214.

Sorry for your loss, Breeze. Semper fi.

I didn't know that above ground burial of cremains was an option at Arlington.

Esprit de Corps - Sorry for your loss and thank you for your service.

A quote from a previous President:
"Some people spend an entire lifetime wondering if they've made a difference.
The Marines don't have that problem."

There are rows upon rows of vaults for ashes. They are actually running out of space for in ground burials.

My dad had a similar service (army) done for him when we put his ashes at Punchbowl. We put him in one of the niches. At Punchbowl they just about ran out of burial plots and they created more niches but they will probably fill up in the next 5 years because so many of our vets are passing away. My dad even had a 21 gun salute. They gave us a flag also but we donated it back to the service. From what I understand, the honor guard was provided by volunteer soldiers and they do that as a service to the vets.

    condolences on your friend's passing
