High limit room action - a not-very-detailed trip report

    My Trip Report

Recently got back from an extended weekend trip to Vegas with some friends.

We stayed at Aria. I thought it was pretty nice, and I would definitely stay there again. No real complaints about anything resort-wise. Aria has a high limit room with the usual stuff like Blackjack and Roulette and a nice little bar. I don't know about BJ, but the two Roulette tables seemed to be $100 minimum most of the time. Not sure about weekend nights, though; I'm sure they bump it up if it gets busy. There's also a high limit slot room.

The big money action, though, is past the regular high limit room in the dedicated Baccarat room. There are a number of tables here with a range of minimums. When it's not too busy you can find at least one $100 table; even late on a Friday night I caught a $100 table and played for several hours. There's almost always several $300 and $500 tables as well, and it just goes up from there. A few times I saw minimums of $3,000 at some tables. The dealers I interacted with were super-friendly. There is a small "snack nook" off to the side, as well as dedicated bathrooms and a cashier. This is a great place to play high limit Baccarat.

Aria supposedly still has Pai Gow Tiles, but they only bring it out on "special occasions." I played it there a couple months ago around Lunar New Year time, but it wasn't available on this trip.

We also did some gambling at Palace Station. I had never been there. Palace Station has two Pai Gow Tiles tables that are supposedly open 24/7, both with a $50 minimum. The high limit room here is surprisingly decent as well, even though it was pretty dead when I was there. I think there was only one Baccarat table open, with a minimum of $100. I guess this is mostly a locals casino, so unless you're really into Pai Gow Tiles like me, I wouldn't say there's any reason to go out of your way to visit here.

We went to Resorts World as well. I mentioned in a previous post that I thought they got rid of their Tiles table, but I was wrong. They had just moved it, and I think they said it's only open on weekend nights. We got there in the afternoon, and they were actually nice enough to open it for us early, so we played for a few hours. The Tiles table was in the high limit room, and the minimum was $100 on a Saturday evening. Resorts World also has a ton of Baccarat tables, both in the regular high limit room and in their dedicated Baccarat room. Even on a Saturday evening it was easy to find several $100 minimum tables. The dealers and pit bosses were all super friendly, and cocktail service was great. Resorts World is quickly becoming one of my favorite casinos.

Non-gambling-wise, we went to the Sphere to see that show they do. I honestly thought it was only okay. I don't feel like I ever need to see it again. If I had a choice I would rather go on the High Roller again. We ate dinner one night at Mon Ami Gabi at Paris. The food was actually delicious, but I got the fish and it made me sick for like an hour afterwards. I didn't eat that much; I think it was just too rich or something, but my stomach did not like it. The other problem with this restaurant is that it is very crowded, as in, they pack people in here really tightly. That also means it's really noisy as well. If you're fine with a really noisy and crowded restaurant, then I would recommend it.

Bacchanal Buffet was also really good, as most people already know. I probably could have wasted my whole appetite on the dessert bar alone. The only thing I didn't like is that there isn't really a drink station, or if there is, I couldn't find it. You have to get your drinks from the waitresses, even if you just want water.

All in all, a fun Vegas trip, which they almost always are, and I actually came home a winner this time, which I usually don't....LOL

I'm surprised you were able to find $100 minimum tables at aria. I haven't seen that in awhile. I've switched over to the mansion.

When I've stopped at resorts world, high limit has always been dead. It is like having your own private table lol

There were $100 bac tables available every time I went in the bac HL at Aria two weeks ago. Sometimes just one table, but always at least that many. The BJ was always $300 and up in the afternoons and evenings, both in the HL and the couple tables in the bac HL.

It may be that I go during long weekend holidays that I don't see $100 minimums

Nice trip! When you last played Pai Gow Tiles was it on the main floor or in the high limit room? I thought maybe Aria stopped spreading Tiles entirely...I haven't seen or played it there since last September. :(

I last played it about a month and a half to two months ago, and it was on the main floor in the Asian pit with mini-bacc and Pai Gow poker.

When Aria has a $100 table open in the HL room, there's almost always someone playing. On a Friday night it was completely full. Aria definitely gets action at that level, so I think they like to have at least one $100 table at all times if they can help it.

Wow. About 15 years ago, I played tiles at Palace Station on the main floor for a $10 minimum.
