Last time we were in Vegas (10), we stopped here while in the Venetian. We tried the short rib sloppy joe and loved it, we actually came back a second time while on that trip to enjoy it. I was looking on their menu for this upcoming trip and didnt see it? Can anyone confirm that GL stopped serving it?

    Thanks in advance

Hate to bust your bubble, but it was off the menu when I was there in Feb. I asked, because I could see they had pasted something else over it, and they confirmed they didn't serve it any more.

They did have "short rib" other stuff, so I dunno what happened to the sloppy joes.

And who knows, maybe it's back by now.

Sloppy Joes is basically ground beef in a sweet tomato-based variation of barbecue sauce served on some sort of bread or roll.

If you have some spaghetti sauce with ground beef in it, add a couple of shakes of worcestershire sauce per serving to it and you'll get an idea of the flavor.

And Grand Lux's version, although I never got to try it, substituted small pieces of short rib for ground beef.

They still had roasted short rib on the dinner menu and I think they still had the short rib grilled cheese sandwich. But y'know stuff like short rib sloppy joes had to be pre-packaged stuff, so I imagine their supplier just stopped carrying it for some reason, cause otherwise, it would be like,

"You have short ribs? And bread? And a toaster of some sort?"

Thanks for the explanation, I kinda get it now

I'll have to see if I can find them somewhere else then. I'm not gonna try to make them myself as I'll probably end up having food poisoning :evillaugh

My guess is GL's spin was a wee bit beyond stove-top Joes. Short ribs take hours to braise properly, and that braising liquid, reduced, would make killer sauce, if done in relatively standard braised short ribs fashion.

Not necessarily a fan of GL/Cheesecake when there are so many kagillions of unique offerings in town, but I will say they stretch the bounds of the menu, which is commendable.

    Love the Grand Luxe

Ive never ever ever been disappointed with the Grand Luxe. Seems like my most recent trips have been with people who have never been there so I take them....and they all loved it to. its not fancy but I like the portions and service.
