Maybe this is old news but it was a surprise for me. Stayed at the Four Queens on 4/30 for one night which was comped using the monthly offer. Got there around 11:30AM and was told that if there was a room ready right away there would be a $25 early check in fee. I've been staying there for many years and have never been charged for early check in. (Turned out there were no south tower rooms ready so avoided any issue with the fee.)

Not old news afaik, really seems like a dumb move on their part. Do they want you to settle in and start gambling or babysit your bags for a few hours before settling in and starting to gamble? Hopefully this isn't the start of them adding other nonsense fees.

If they're going to introduce an early check-in fee, they're also going to need to allow guests who are checking in that day to use (without a fee) the bell desk to store their belongings.

Until recently, they've always been good about letting me check in early and I have not paid a fee. there is one particular gal working at the desk now that is just hateful. I try to avoid her.

I’ve never used it, but on the far left side of the 4Q front desk (next to the gift shop), I’m about 100% certain they have a bell desk there…

Is that not a thing? I've been to some Strip hotels where I was just going to gamble a couple hours before my flight (stayed downtown last trip) and the bell desk/concierge holds onto my bag(s) for a few hours for free (tip appropriately, obv).

Are you telling me that QQQQ specifically charges for baggage storage for people who will be guests in a few hours? I trust your knowledge base but need a source cite here.

I am aware that there is a bell desk there. I have used it in the past -- both right after having checked out and a few hours before checking in (with both of those times having been in 2019).

I have personally done this in the past, too -- storing bags at the bell desk of a hotel where I didn't even stay but where I was going to transact (play and dine) just prior to heading to the airport.

It might have been a thick-of-the-demic thing, but during my two most recent stays at the Four Queens -- not all that recent, being in December 2021 and December 2020 -- I was specifically informed by the bell desk and the front desk that I would not be allowed to store luggage at the bell desk prior to check-in. It wasn't that they wouldn't store it at no cost to me. They wouldn't store it, period -- despite the bell desk otherwise being in full operation.

To be crystal clear -- I am not claiming that Four Queens charges for the use of the bell desk. Four Queens does not charge a fee for the use of their bell desk.

I would love to hear of a more recent example (after December 2021) of someone who arrived at the Four Queens prior to standard check-in time, did not have their room ready yet for check-in, and then stored bags at the bell desk.

Three days ago I was making arrangements for my upcoming trip I called Four Queens. I had comps available at DTG or El Cortez but was leaning toward 4Q because of the VP at ELCO and the problems I have encountered with DTG front Desk. I asked specifically if weekends and south tower were included and told yes no problem. I told them I was coming in very early after a long travel time and if early check-in is a problem. I was told if available they will check in at 9AM and they do not charge early check-in to comps. Well I guess we'll see cause I booked it based on the info.

To save a ton of face here (and some time), I just called the Four Queens and spoke to someone at the bell desk. I got verbal confirmation that one may use the bell desk prior to check-in as long as one has a hotel reservation.

Back to the show about the charge for early check-in.

The FAQ page on the Four Queens website [1] clearly states:

    Is Early Check-In Available?
    • We cannot guarantee an early check-in until the day of check-in. If available, a rate of $25 will be charged.
    Is Late Check-Out Available?
    • We cannot guarantee a late check-out until the day of check-out. If available, a rate of $25 will be charged.

The Internet Archive Wayback Machine indicates that this FAQ page has existed since around August-October 2021.

The Binions FAQ page states exactly the same.

When I last stayed at the Four Queens in December 2021, they must have either been very lax about the early check-in policy or generous to me based on the booking itself (I had booked my regular gaming offer through a host, requested a suite if available, and was given their best type of suite comped; granted, it was a 3-night weeknight stay right before Christmas) because I got into my room at around noon and was not charged an early check-in fee.

[1] They finally put a security certificate on the sites for the two casinos. Next, let's hope they modernize the site a bit and move on from PHP.

Just last week I had a reservation at 4Q, arrived a little bit early. I was told my room was not ready and I can leave my bags with the bellman. No fee no problem.

I tried to store a bag at 4Q bell desk when arriving at about 1:00 a.m. (no room that night, was planning to gamble all night) and was refused. I kept my backpack (flew Spirit) with me at the bar while playing VP and then eating at Magnolias. This was the summer of 2021. I had no reservation at 4Q.

Fifteen+ years ago when I used to stay on the Strip to play blackjack, I always used to check my bag at MGM because it had the shortest cab ride back to the airport (even though my room had been at some other hotel). I don't know if that is still an option.

More than once, I’ve checked bags at a hotel where I wasn’t staying for various reasons. I found dangling a generous tip before speaking to the bell person could be influential. However I suspect they’re tightening this up a bit now.

Last week the Golden Gate first verified that I had just checked out before storing my bag. I see this as a combination of the GG having a very small storage closet and not wanting to store bags when they have no data on the dropper, in case someone was up to something nefarious.

A deal compared to what I paid at GN the last two Septs (on a comp)--$50. Only reason I paid it was bc we were meeting people at the pool so physically it was just easier to get ripped off immediately before donating more money at the pool.

Last month I was able to use the bell desk for luggage storage with no issues. Also, we checked in early and were not charged a fee. I didn't even know that they had a fee for early check in and I've done it numerous times. Maybe depends on the front desk person or the type reservation. Mine have been through a host for a long time and no clue if that makes a difference.

Typically Four Queens doesn't charge an early check-in fee for comped rooms. I always check in early with no fee, as recently as last week. In February I tried to check in early and the clerk said there would be a fee. I told her I didn't think there was a fee for comped rooms. She said, "oh, you're right" and checked me in without a fee.
