Downtown craft beer and video poker

Try Atomic Liquors.. Its about a block and half East from the Container Park. Absolutely awesome vibe and huge craft beer selection and good food too.

I second this recommendation. I also suggest heading to Pizza Rock, by far the best pizza in Vegas with a great selection of draft craft and extensive bottle/can list. If you are somewhat adventurous, Hop Nuts is several blocks south of downtown, they have a nice brewpub and solid beer offerings. I like the El Haffe (Jalapeno) offered by Banger Brewing. Main Street Station / Triple 7 has great video poker, their "craft" beer is very light / mild / bland. I like the Hefe offering among their regular brews. MSS and The Cal have great full pay video poker and really like their casinos.

I also like Aces and Ales (one near Sam's Town the other closer to downtown a few miles west of Texas Station on Tenaya) for great craft on draft and decent food. They have numerous happy hour specials and great service.

 

In your opinion, what would that progressive have to be at to be decently playable?

 

There has to be a rough % multiplier for a particular games standard paytable to figure this out depending on how much higher the progressive is over the normal 4000 coin payout.

Would be a nice thing to know.

Just something close like every $100 over the normal $1000 (.25 VP) adds .5% or something.
This would be a nice nugget of info to carry around so when you check a machines paytable you can see it’s normally 98% but if the progressive is at say $1200 you can figure it’s 99%.

I’m sure there’s a few folks who can answer this.

@Don the Dentist is probably refering to the Airport Deuces (98.91%+prog.) game there because the non-wild games there have multiple meters to contend with. To be a positive return game that royal needs to be $1557.50 or higher on the Airport Deuces game.

ROUGHLY speaking, for Royal-only progressives, every extra $500 for the quarter Royal ($2000 for dollar machines) is worth a "Notch" on a non-wild paytable (~1.1-1.2%).

Some examples,

A 7/5 quarter Bonus game with a $1500 progressive (99.09%) has a roughly similar payback to an 8/5 Bonus game (99.17%).

An 8/5 DDB dollar game with a $8000 Royal (99.06%) has about the same payback as a standard 9/6 DDB game which is two notches higher (98.98%).

A 7/5 JoB 50c game with a $5000 Royal (99.68%) is roughly similar the 3-notch better game of 9/6 JoB (99.54%).

 

Why are people putting quotes around the word craft? Craft beer doesn’t mean “good” beer. It means that it’s made in small batches.

 

That is absolutely correct. I round it up to $1,600 for quarters, $3,200 for halves and $6,400 for dollars.

I agree that Banger is the best beer downtown...if they only had VP. Last time I was at MSS, they were OUT of the High Roller, my fave brew there and a good golden ale. OUT? I questioned. The barman just shook his head.

 

Seems 777 has on going problems keeping some of their brands in stock at MSS. I do agree High Roller is an excellent beer.

 

Is MSS doing any better with keeping their brews in stock, especially the Roller? Headed back in November and can taste one right now.

 

I had no issues a few weeks back with them. Enjoyed many Carlsbad IPA.

 

I've been going to 777 and staying at MSS ever since they opened. Only once have they been out of one of their regular beers. (I prefer the IPA and the Porter). There have been a few times when they were out of their beer of the month.

 

This was the totals at Chicago brewing at 4 Q on Saturday each royal paid differently by suit. They were still there today and i didn’t take a check when I left so assumed they are still growing. 8/5 JoB.

 

This was a lower return than I initially thought. 98.98%.

You were technically better off playing 9/6 DDB (98.98%+) with the progressives at that point. Or 40/10/6 DDB (99.96%) for 50c+. This JoB game rarely gets positive because the base paytable is only 97.3%. If all Royals are exactly $2000, then it's 99.59%.
