So to get away from the stresses of home, I decided to celebrate my 28th B-DAY in Vegas. I will be spending 3 days there. I'm somewhat of a reserved person but I understand I would have to loosen up a bit to enjoy the town. Am I making the right choice?:ssst:

Well, you won't find too many folks on the "Vegas Message Board" that think a trip to Vegas is a bad idea. ;)

Vegas is a great city for a solo traveler. So many people travel to Vegas alone for various reasons that it's no trouble dining solo, seeing a show solo, drinking or gambling solo...whatever.

Yes, opening up a bit will help you meet people and better enjoy yourself, and frankly, Vegas is a great place to practice that. You likely will never see any of those same people again, so take a chance and make some smalltalk.

There's lots of great advice, reviews and reports on this forum, so settle in and start planning ahead.

Happy Birthday, and have a great trip!

I think I do more solo trips to Vegas than non. I would advise you to learn how to play some table game - blackjack, 3 card poker, something, as the tables are much more social usually.

I love the freedom of going solo - go where I want, when I want, and do what I want.

I've never been to Vegas or another Casino solo. Eventually I will. I am married though, so we normally go together or with family. I will say, in Vegas it seems almost everyone is a little more sociable and the likeliness to meet someone that you hit it off with is pretty damn likely. My dad goes single with my wife and I almost every 6 months and he usually spends a day or so solo to give us alone time. He ALWAYS finds an attractive female to hang out with. He is just that kinda guy that he can talk to anyone and make them feel at ease.

Keep in mind. Vegas is huge. If you make an ass out of yourself, there are a bunch of other casinos you can go to and start over. Just keep in mind, most low lives target single people because they have no one looking out for them. If you plan on drinking heavily, take a limited amount of money and leave most of your valuables in your room safe. The main reason is so you don't gamble away your entire bankroll, but also so you don't lose anything or get pick pocketed.

I get depressed if I'm in Vegas for too long by myself

Agree, do what feels right for you. I've been once solo and I had a nice time but, it was a little awkward for me at first because I was so accustomed to being there with my hubby. Then again, we'd had 14ish years of trips together before this one so, kind of makes sense that it was a little strange at first.

I actually split my trip between downtown and the Strip and found that I enjoyed downtown quite a bit more but, that's just my experience.

As a solo traveler, I really enjoyed dining at bars, which I found to be a great place to strike up conversations with bartenders and other visitors.

Whatever you decide, have a great birthday!

I visit Vegas 99% of the time solo. There's nothing better than being on your own schedule in a city with no schedule.
