I play max bets on all slot machines. I either win or lose but if I win I want the largest payout. Can't say this is the best strategy, but it works for me.

I try to find machines where I can max bet under$3, but I won my second highest win on a min 50ยข bet. I leave a machine after about 5-6 spins if I get no win of any kind.

Last few trips I've been playing a lot of ($1.50 max bet) Quick Hits. Mandalay Bay seems to have quite a few machines of this type.
Love to play old school 3 reel Double Diamonds ($.75 or $3.00 max bet) when I can find them. Also like the Spin & Win machines.
Usually start the day at a $10 blackjack table for a hour or two though.

Penny machines, usually video and not reels, and go anywhere between $3 - $6 a spin. I'd play the HL slots but for some reason I don't like any of the games that are offered. I know I won't win a huge jackpot playing games like Wonka World and Flintstones but damn they are a lot of fun. I'm very judicious about the BJ games that I play and the bets that I make at craps but for some reason I don't mind playing hit and run video slots all the while knowing I am bucking some big odds. I guess its just the price of entertainment that I'm willing to pay.

I only play the newer slots with the video bonus rounds because I like the entertainment and it pleases the wife, who wouldn't play them at all without me calling the money. So I sit her down, determine what is the lowest spin denomination to trigger bonuses and hand her a ten or twenty. If nothing interesting happens we move on. If we hit a bonus that gets close to our original investment we cash out and move on. Seldom are we repeat customers except for Goldfish and Buffalo. Because, BUFFALO!

I play pennies a penny at a spin until I get a cocktail. Then, I mix it up with playing all lines at various amounts. It's just for fun with the slots!

Both my parents came out to the Nugget with me this summer, and my mother absolutely loves those two machines. I sat with her one evening to keep her company, and bashed $500 through in about 2 hours @ $1.50 a spin :bang:

My dad mostly plays poker, so not many comps for him, but she gets a budget of $150 a day, and plays for hours every day. Come the end of the trip, they got their whole 17 nights in the Rush Tower comped, and all the room service they had, too. I was quite surprised, given how tight it's supposed to be there, and the fact that she's a very low roller.

I think I might try and play a few hours a day this time, to see if I can get any free nights. 17 nights isn't cheap, even with the Cyber Monday deal :evillaugh:

If I can't afford to bet the max on a machine which has an elevated jackpot rewarding a max bet, then I don't play it. I've hit a few over $2000 jackpots (once for $10K) in my many years of playing-that's always fun. My attitude about slots is that they're losing propositions but fun to play. I'm trying not to risk a lot and hoping to get on the short term volatile upside of higher paying slots. Mostly I play blackjack, dice or video poker, but I like trying to get a lucky big hit on slots. The only slot I've ever played which nearly always seems to give me a little money is Dragon Spin. I'd have never played it, but Mrs. Johnny was hitting on it so I sat down with $100 and lit the thing up with all the lights, noise and Dragon spins. Hooked on the damn thing now and I play it some maybe every other day. For some reason I seem to most often wind up a little ahead or not much behind. My cost for playing is low. NOT so on other slots.........

I try and stretch my money so often play minimum bet but all lines. I am familiar enough with most slots to know what will bonus on min bet.
I seek out the 90 cent quick hits and usually do well on those. BUT I am looking for a few hours play on my cash with the potential for some good wins.
Have hit 3 1k payouts on 90 cents so far this summer, so feel that my method is working for me.

My usual bankroll is $100-$200 per day. Play mostly .5 cent or .25 cent VP, always full coin. When tired and/or tipsy play penny slots. Start by playing all lines a penny a line, then go up (one button at a time ) to the max amount, then back down the line to the least amount. If I get some pay back, will play in the middle denomination (maybe $1.00 a spin) till it starts getting good, then keep going up. I leave if it suddenly gets "cold", or doesn't give enough back to keep me interested. Although I will say last time I did not follow my own rules, and let Wicked Winnings kick my a** because on my last trip I was specifically trying to win a "big one" (meaning over $1,000).

Our style of Slot play, is, we'll stick $100 in and play on that until it's double or nothing (or higher then double with any even number)
We enjoy to play $5 2-coin 3-reel slots (Double Top Dollar or Wheel Of Fortune) or $1 video slots for $15-$40 a pull (Cats, TwinWin, etc)
We started doing this type of play beginning this year, and we've made the top tier card at Cosmo and a property in Reno, and our losses have definitely been WELLLLL below expected (I almost want to say we're actually AHEAD for the year)

I like playing the featured slots that are huge and in the main walkway so everyone can watch me lose my money.

There's a large Buffalo slot at Mandalay next to House of Blues Restaurant and i sit there and go through my money to entertain everyone else.

I usually will play slots when I don't want to think. I'm primarily a VP player, but there are times when I've had several cocktails and I notice my short attention- span wavering and I'll make a couple mistakes... then... I'll take my drink and find a "normal" slot machine. I hate the ones with all kinds of symbols that make no sense to me and I'm not much into the penny machines either or those that are interactive. I'll find a dollar machine that has a max-bet somewhere between $2-$5 and throw in a couple hundred to start. I'm a people-watcher, so I can hit the button and let the machine do the rest, while I gawk around the room.

I'll play WOF sometimes and yes, even the dreaded Megabucks (you can't win if you don't play). Depending on how I feel , I may feed the machine another couple hundred, but generally after that, I'll move down to the quarter level and still play max-bet ALWAYS. I am never engrossed in the slots... in fact, I rarely look at it unless I hear something. In VP, I'm totally into the game and often notice how fast I play to the exclusion of a ball-game or those around me... I'll then take a break to the slots.

I'll typically play max bet up to about the $5/spin range. Depending on my mood and how the trip is going I'll go above that for machines like Fu Dao Le, Dancing Drums, Wonder 4. But have definitely noticed the benefits of less than max bet. I see people winning decent amounts or even more at lower levels. I can't hit a damn thing on Walking Dead 2 ever, and have sworn it off. Last time a woman sits down next to me betting $.75, hit for like $900 a few spins in. I've never hit for more than like $100 on it, over multiple trips, at $3.75 max bet. And don't even get me started on the woman on YouTube hitting for $12,500 on a $.75 bet...

no rhyme or reason....whatever looks fun.
By gut feel....sometimes minimum & other times max bet.
    I don't really venture above $1/credit = less than $5 per spin.

If I'm with others who like to sit in a group, I have a lot of fun on the oldest machines.
I still like WOF or anything with a re-spin bonus.

When I'm going to/from somewhere, I'll play the newest games for a set amount of spins on max.
On the last night - I'll play a little on those big double seat machines - it's fun to go in half and split the wins.

50 dragons and 88 fortune are a bit like crack to me.

My gambling depends on who I'm in Vegas with.
Mom = Lots of penny machines & she does not max bet. Likes long sessions.
Kid = He likes the newest games but doesn't have the budget for long sessions. Hit & run.
Hubs = Erratic. Hard to get him started & then impossible to pull him away. He's a chaser.

Goldfish (any except G2) and that Cheeseburger Deluxe game are the only games I absolutely look to play. Buffalo and Britney, too. My local replaced Brit with more Buffalo Gold and Deluxe, so I'll play those, too. Outside of that, I generally play whatever's near my SO. She plays zero tables and max bets almost everything. I play mostly tables and will only max bet the $1.50 QH and Goldfish. Otherwise, I try to hover around $1 bets if the slot portion of my budget allows it.

Slots are dumb fun for me, and I've turned the corner on how much I'm willing to play. I used to, no joke, spend no more than $20-$40 average every trip. Now, I at least do $100, depending on the destination. I never plan on long sessions, so if I fizzle out, I'm good. If I have a great day at the tables then I'll throw in more.
