Ah64, thanks for the great review. I really feel like I'm missing out on something, while i sit here eating my lunch from Wendy's.

My sister and I had both this buffet and the Bellagio buffet on our dinner list, but maybe the Bellagio can come off and be replaced with something else!!

    I love dinner options!

I've used Platinum to enter other Caesars buffets (Paris, PH, etc.) with three others.

The old Lago buffet only had Diamond line but I would assume Bacchanal would allow guests to accompany you.

It'd be pretty hard to up their game, but they probably could to a degree just by hiring more staff. For my entire 2.5 hour meal at Bacchanal, there were 3-4 guys who did nothing but shuck oysters. I think Wynn has one guy who runs the entire cold seafood bar plus sushi?

Even if they could try to compete, I don't think the other buffets will feel like they need to. Just like how the old Lago buffet at Caesars had long lines, the others bank not just on word of mouth, but on the "upscale" reputation of the property. People will always go to Bellagio because...well...they MUST have a great buffet, right?

This is how I feel every week I watch Top Chef as I eat my frozen pre-made burrito.

Definitely skip Bellagio's buffet! They have been consistently regressing for a few years now and are at a pretty low point these days. The last three times I was there, the crab was served only partially thawed. It's also sort of weird how unappealing most of their food is. They usually have one or two good meats being carved, but then you walk around and can't really find much else for your plate (big steam trays of plain mashed potatoes, spaghetti with pasta sauce, plain corn-on-the-cob sitting in water, etc). I do give them credit for their selection of very nice desserts.

Because i will be on East coast time, I will be ready for 'dinner' at 3:00. WOuld there be a line at that time do you think? Not willing to stand in line for a buffet longer than say 10 minutes...

Based off what I saw and heard about the cosmo buffet, lines may be expected at anytime of the day for a little while. Unless it has really died off, I think 10 minutes is optimistic anytime of day right now.

My first time being dropped from Diamond to Platinum in many years as I had shifted to MGM. Has anyone been able to bypass the line with their Platinum card?

Agree 100 percent, especially about the Bellagio carving board.

They were suggesting that this would be included in the 24 hour Buffet pass for an extra $10. That would be ok on the Fri/Sat. when the price is $39.99. I wouldn't like to pay an extra $10 on nights that it is $34.99.

Anyone heard anymore about the inclusion in the Buffet pass?

ah6tyfour - thanks for the excellent and detailed review.

I have never actually done the buffet pass. I have seen.."Additional $15 Per Visit, Ask for Details when Purchasing Pass". It is possible it is $10 as well, but that seems to me that you pay it when going into that buffet instead of up front.

LOL, not to poo-poo the project, but at that price, I have a feeling that the novelty will wear off rather quickly! :)

Haven't been Plat for a few years now, but back then both the Rio and Harrah's let you use the special rear entrance with the Platinum card.

10 minutes? Five minutes is too long for me. When I am in Vegas, my time is important. I hate waiting in line. I read about people waiting 45 minutes to get into a buffet. I will not do that, not at the prices they are charging. No buffet is worth that to me.

Thanks for that. It makes sense. If you bought the pass and wanted to use it only at the Bacchanal, you'd expect it to be more than just $10. When I originally read the $10, Caesars may not have worked out all the pricing details.

Just a few days ago, that page said it was a $10 up-charge PER trip to do the Caesars buffet.

Personally, I think if they are going have an additional charge for the Caesars buffet, they should PAY people $10-15 to eat at the IP buffet. :vomit:

Just got back from a trip and visited the Bacchanal Buffet with 3 friends for dinner. The line around 730 was long - pretty much filled the winding roped area - and it took around 30 minutes to get through and be seated. I was able to sample from every category except Mexican food (since it's hard to do right and I get so much good stuff at home in Arizona) and was very impressed as were my friends. The seafood section was the busiest by far.
Favorites - Crab legs, spicy tuna sushi roll, sliders, asparagus, chicken wing basket, banana soufle, the individual plated salads.
Things I'd skip - Potstickers, spicy vegetables & beef, giant meatballs.

The 4 of us unanimously agreed it was worth the premium. I will probably make it a point to go once a trip. Kudos to Caesars for finally having a buffet worthy of the resort, it's so much better than Lago was.
