Are there fee-free ATM machines in the casinos, or even on the strip? If not, what sort of fee is charged to withdraw cash.

I have seen reference to, for example, Bank of American ATM machines having fee free withdrawals for customers. However I am an international visitor, so I am just trying to see where is the best place to withdraw my cash. I'd rather not get my dollars at home and travel with a large amount of cash.

Can you even 'purchase' chips or cash at the cages in the casino with a debit card?

The fee for ATMs in casinos is somewhere between confiscatory and extortive! :( Don't know the exact fee amount since I very seldom use them.

There used to be a Wells Fargo ATM (free for WF account holders, low fee for others) but it disappeared during the remodel.

There are WF ATMs at the airport and at the rental car center.

The answer to your question is no. Casinos (and the bank affiliated with those machines) profit from people making those withdrawals so there is a fee involved. I believe the fee is between $5 and $7 depending on which casino you are withdrawing from. WIth that in mind, if you do withdraw it is better to take more than you need instead of having to go back and pay another fee to withdraw again.

If you are a customer of any bank in the US you can use the ATMS at those bank branches with no charge because you are an existing customer, but outside customers will be charged a fee. You also cannot use a debit card or credit card to purchase any kind of gaming currency at any casino. You need to use US currency or you can have funds wired from your bank in Ireland to the casino cage (many people do this - I don't know the procedure, as I have never done this myself, but many people here have).

In lieu of any of this, you can always purchase Travelers Checks, which are insured in the case of being lost or stolen.

The cheapest ATM on the strip is in Casino Royale. Their fee is $3, or was at the end of November 2017.

Thanks guys. I have a good debit card that gets me the best available exchange rate abroad, so I'm better to withdraw my cash and pay $3 or $5, than change my money here and get the terrible exchange rate

If low-roller, I'd rather put the money in my pocket and travel with that. Anything at or under $3K should be fine in this category. If High Roller, I'd wire the money to the casino cage beforehand. Anything above $10K should be in this category.

If between the two, then traveler's cheques is probably the best idea.

I did the maths. I’m better to take the $5 ATM charge and withdraw my cash in Vegas than buy my US$ here and get the comparatively terrible foreign exchange rate.

That is why I have a line of credit at several places. Treat it like an ATM. No fee. Two weeks grace period before it is actually withdrawn from the account.

If you're downtown, I recall reading somewhere the heart attack grill has a 75¢ fee ATM, but personally cannot confirm.

I have a LOC with Main Street Station, but the bank info is out of date. So on those unfortunate trips where I have to tap into it and not pay it off, they mail me a notice with PP envelope to pay it off. The entire process takes about 3-4 weeks. Not that interest rates matter on a checking or savings account these days, but at one time it was a nice float.

When we lived there and I needed cash, I didn't go to the bank, I just went to my LOC at MSS. It was a nice excuse to go to the casino.

But if you don’t have $5000 sitting around in an account for a few months; how do you get a LOC?

Walgreens will also let you do "cash back" I have confirmed you can buy a pack of gum and get up to 100 bucks back in cash. Although tedious you could do this as many times as you wish.

Maybe I am just paranoid, but I just don't trust generic atms, I would think chances of there being a skimmer installed would be much greater than an actual bank machine......At least a bank would have the reason to keep it safe, as they could be on the hook for fraudulent charges, as long as the generic ones get their service fee, why would they care?

Not sure what criteria is. Maybe just a good credit rating. I have a $5000 LOC at several places and the account it is linked to never has more than $3000 in it.

The Walgreens at the end of Fremont Street has a smaller cashback limit.
I think it's a MAX of $20 cash back on each purchase made there.
Maybe someone else can confirm this.
The ATM at this location has a smaller withdrawal limit too.

Anyone know if you can just walk in & use it? Don't gotta eat? Never heard of that elsewhere so maybe a dumb question, but just asking to be sure.

Damn this is gonna be my ATM of choice now I guess, you know when in that area anyway. I've not seen a ATM for less than $2 anywhere & definitely not in an ideal location on the strip or downtown where things are happening like this one.
