@Chuck2009x I love AC but take my word for it, 3 nights is plenty there lol. And are you saying Logan doesn't get you into the AC or Philly airport? I would have to imagine it does.

Having gone during July without anything available inside, this is a welcome relief. While I am not a crazy anti masker, I certainly don't like wearing one but I am happy to comply to try to keep others safe, I don't necessarily think there is a benefit to wearing a mask and being socially distanced, so drinking while playing a slot with the one next to it off feels very safe to me. I can say that with the ability to get a drink at a machine or table, I don't mind waiting to finish it before I get up. It will be nice to get a coffee in the morning and vodka at night. We have trips booked for the end of september and the middle of october and the middle of november and both Vegas and AC booked for December. We won't do all of them, but I would think the late September trip with the ability to still do indoor and outdoor dining along with the ability to get drinks inside and sit at a bar with my wife would be most likely to stay on the list. Vegas in December is also looking more and more likely which is exciting.

I would think this order will also open the door for the Diamond Lounges to reopen in AC which is a nice thought as well. They can probably even do some of the food and just have it served instead of buffet.

It'd be more of a "vacation" trip than just a gambling trip, so at least 10 nights.

I looked at flying to Philly and renting a car, but that all adds up to more than I want to pay for transport to AC.

There's no commercial flights direct from BOS to ACY that I know of.

Yea, but you can actually go into the ocean in September. Out on the Cape, the twig and berries will beat a hasty retreat. And you won't have to climb over rocks either. :evillaugh:

I seem to recall Spirit having NS service to Boston, but I don't think there was enough traffic and the route was discontinued.

Full disclosure: I rented a house in Hyannis about 9 years ago and we had a really nice time, great family vacation.

September, after Labor Day, is the best time at the Jersey shore. The sun is hot but not abusive, the water is at it's warmest, and the place is hopping but not crazy busy.

Yes, it's a list of dining, but only some of them are indoor dining.

But here's the best part, kids are back in school.

to paraphrase the voice of Henry Chinaski from Barfly: "I like kids, but I like them more when they are not around."

Just think of this: Many folks with Caesars Rewards cards probably could get a comp night at an oceanfront property

    Bless your heart.

@smerrian I'm also volunteering you for some updates this weekend, please say you're hitting AC and more prudently, if you can give an update on the drink situation...

I just got the email about opening lounges and indoor dining at CET properties.
So Hammie I owe you an apology. I do like to be wrong when there is good news.

Just about the most gorgeous weather on the last holiday weekend of the summer...it will be busy as hell all weekend in every beach town including AC.
Sadly, I can't be around that much of a crowd. I have a heavily compromised husband. He's not happy that I go in the VERY early hours in the middle of the week when the place is as empty as an airplane hanger much less hitting AC this weekend with the crowds that will be there. Ask me how the casinos are doing at 4am on a Tue morning as that's information I can get to you. Sat nights? Not without a vaccine.

I stopped by the Toga bar on Friday about noon-ish, every other machine was operating, but management didn't allow drink service. No one could say when it would resume. There was a barback working, but no bartenders. I asked a suit and he was about as useful as teats on a boar.

I beat a hasty retreat and headed over to Harrah's as I had some freeplay. I ordered a beer via the on screen system and it took about 15 minutes to arrive, turning it into a $25 Blue Moon.

I ended up heading back down the boardwalk and stopped at Bally's Beach Bar where they had a band playing,

My wife and I went for a bike ride this morning to reconnoiter the situation and grab breakfast. Stopped at Casa Taco at Tropicana around 9:30 and there was a 20 minute wait for an outside table. The inside tables had a separate wait list and the hostess said it was longer. We continued up the boardwalk and saw there was a line at Johnny Rockets, so we took a pass. We stopped at Margaritaville inside Resorts and we were seated right away.

No paper menus, scan the QR code to reveal a very limited board of fare: eggs, pancakes, hash browns, and bacon. After breakfast we hit the casino for a short session, I noticed a few cocktail waitresses but didn’t order anything. The casino seemed very clean, a guard scanned our temperature at the entrance and there were many hand sanitizer stations and wipes available.

Governor Murphy reversed himself yesterday and re-issued an order to prohibit smoking in casinos. I have to say, it was very welcome at Resorts because that place was probably one of the smokiest in AC.

Went back down the boardwalk and stopped at Caesars, played some Ultimate X with choppy results. The on screen drink ordering system worked pretty well and I think I had my two Bloodies in less than 10 minutes. I made my way to the Toga Bar just before it opened at High Noon. I was playing $.25 BP, down to $10 and the bartender came over to take my order for a Bloody Mary. And just like that, my wife said she was ready to go. I ended up quaffing the BM, but along the way, I got quad deuces. The bartender said he was out of work since March 16th and just returned earlier in the week.

We then made our way to Bally’s Beach Bar only to find that there is a $5 cover charge in effect, there was no band, just some recorded music. Cover charge is waived for Diamond and above. Crap, my little slice of paradise at the shore just succumbed to the new ElDorado ownership. At least they still have daily drink specials. They also serve food from Guy Fieri’s BBQ, and it looks like they increase the prices from what Guy charges.

Finally set a date to return to Atlantic City: November 5th for four days. I had a reservation with a beachhouse just off the Boardwalk between Caesars and Tropicana from AirBnB that I made before the beer virus struck and there were no cancellations, so I've kept it this whole time. I think by November it'll be safe enough to spend some time in AC. Indoor dining is beginning to reopen and drink orders are allowed at the machines again. I removed my self-exclusion from online gambling so CET has ended their ban on me. That means we'll be able to go hang out at Caesars on this trip. We'll probably also do some touristy stuff like go to the aquarium and go shopping at The Walk and maybe take a side trip to Tomasello's Winery in Hammonton to do a wine tasting.

I'm pretty happy that open containers are now allowed on the Boardwalk, because we'll be able to bring all our own drinks and walk around everywhere in the tourist zone. It'll be like being on the Strip without the flight. I hope some shows will return by then, but we'll see.

    Back to AC, baby!

It should be interesting as that 4 day weekend, the first Thursday to Sunday in November was when the school teachers from NJ used to close schools and go to Atlantic City for "professional development" at the NJEA Convention. With the convention going online this year, thousands of teachers who went to Atlantic City for the convention will (on paper) not be going and instead attend the convention virtually. The schools will still be closed since the NJEA says this time is needed for professional development, so maybe you will see parents (and maybe kids) there, making the most of the 4 day weekend in rooms usually booked up by the convention attendees.
