My wife and I are staying downtown for the first time, would like your recommendations on places to eat. We usaully stay on the strip( Palazzo, Aria) but have realized we win more and have more fun downtown.

Depends on your tastes and budget of course:

Fans of a good steak? Andiamo's at The D or Triple George Grill on Downtown 3rd.

Like good pub food and beer? 777 Brew Pub at Main Street Station

    Pizza? Pizza Rock!

Second Street Grill inside the Fremont Casino is a fabulous little hidden gem! Hash House a Go Go at the Plaza, Hugo's Cellar is phenomenal, and the best buffet downtown is Garden Court Buffet at Main Street Station, IMO.

Hugo's Cellar. Their scallops are the best meal I've ever had in Vegas.

The Heart Attack Grill is fun and inexpensive. Dupars in the Golden Gate is good fro breakfast as is Hash House AGOGO in the Plaza. The buffets are small and dissapointing when compared to the strip.

No secret I'm a Boyd fan. Dinner, either Redwood (Cal) or Second St Grill (Fremont). For a breakfast buffet, Main Street Station. Lunch or dinner 777 brew pub (MSS). Beers are also very tasty. Nice happy hour 3-6 PM M-F.

We also enjoy the pizza and craft beers at Chicago Brewing, upstairs at Four Queens. Thin or deep dish.

Triple George is good but imo, pricey.

Mickey Finnz is nothing special, pub fare, but they have a nice elevated patio overlooking Fremont St.

For the price ($8 for lunch?) somewhere like the MSS Buffet should perhaps be considered an alternative to a fast food meal or a bar snack, rather than a rival to the Wicked Spoon or Bachanal buffets.

The new BBQ joint inside Binions seems to be getting some good reports.

As other have said, depends on your budget.
Andiamo's at The D is the nicest place I've eaten downtown.
I do like the D grill too. service is occasionally poor (understaffed).
might as well mention Coney Island at the D :) -- I'm still trying to figure out why this is such a hit. I always grab a bite (free) but seems to be over-rated IMO. Michigan peeps may consider that a crime.

I always goto Dupars at GG no matter the time of day. get a couple of shrimp cocktails and I've never had a bad meal off the menu.

    777 at MS is good.

and another vote for Pizza Rock.

I really enjoyed the pizza at Pizza Rock. You can get slices at the counter if you don't want the whole pie. We really liked the seafood at the Chart House at the Golden Nugget, excellent quality and well prepared. If you want a good omelette for breakfast, Main Street Station's buffet makes a tasty omelette with whatever you like in it.

I'm repeating what others have said but consider it a plus 1 in some cases.

Andiamo, great food, service and vibe.
Vic & Anthony's at Golden Nugget, solid traditional steakhouse.
MSS, buffet is a good cheap buffet, beers at 777 and Boar bar are great.
Nacho Daddy, I still remember the pork taco.
    Pizza Rock, great pizza.

I want to try the Second St Grill, 777 brew pub, maybe the Chicago Brewing (however, the royal flusher swears by Magnolia's and their throw up country gravy). Ialso want to try the Binion's BBQ

While it has been around for quite some time, Pasta Pirate has good food and is a good value.

We just tried Hugo's Cellar. That place is amazing. The food was outstanding...the wait staff go out of their way to cater to you'r every want. This is a must do. The whole experience was old vegas charm and class.

Another vote for both the 777(love the nachos) and the MSS buffet.

Also, Magnolia's at the Four Queens is good and inexpensive.

My wife and I really like Grotto in the Golden Nugget. It does not get much mention on these boards but it is very good Italian food at a very reasonable price. We generally reserve a table in the alcove by the pool at night for a romantic view.

We also like 777 brew pub, Second St. Grill and Hugo's.
