We just got back from Vegas. We stayed at Aria for 4 nights comped from MyVegas. We got upgraded without doing the $20.00 "trick".

What type of room did you have reserved and what type of upgrade did you get? We are staying at Aria in October.

The term upgrade means many different things. Please share the before and after.

I had a regular deluxe room booked thru MyVegas. At check in they gave me a City View/High Floor Deluxe. It was an amazing room on the 29th floor, with a great view of the south strip. I did not have a problem getting the reward from MyVegas, I bought 3 bonus weekday nights and 1 regular weekday night. I love the way Aria has elevators for certain floors, we never had to wait on a full elevator, and the service was fast.

I'm glad you were pleased, but not a real upgrade IMO.

Aria rewards are no longer available to "buy"--but if you have one, you just need to call & see.
I just called this afternoon for Sun & Mon July 27-28 (less than 2 weeks) & was thrilled to find they could book it! They were able to book 2 Weekday bonus comps, both on my account (sadly, another person was told you couldn't do that, and then the person on the phone CANCELLED there 2 room comp!)
It actually IS an upgrade-a cityview is a costlier room than the "sunset" standard room. Higher floors are also considered an upgrade for better views.
We were married 20 years ago in Vegas--hoping that will get us upgrades at all 3 resorts we are staying at this trip!

A view room is an upgrade at any Strip hotel, and is all anyone should be expecting, $20 or tier. If you do better, good for you.

Did anyone notice the trademark Aria smell lacking? My last trip in June, after coming through Crystals and walking into Aria - the it was noticeably more smoky and the great vanilla smell was sort of gone.

Noticed the missing scent as well in late June stay. Thought it was just me. Hope its temporary, lack of smoke (and smoke smell) major plus for the wife and I.

Ditto, but it was REALLY busy.

I'd definitely want an upgrade if I stay there again, I just had a basic room, and I was on the first floor, my touch pad was missing... I wasn't that excited about it. It was nice, but I feel like any upgrade there would probably be a massive improvement from the room I got haha.
