    My Trip Report

As I type this I'm in Myrtle Beach at a conference. A very sincere speaker is droning on about something or other...I should know I'm on the planning committee for this thing! However my mind is fast forwarding to Wednesday. That's when we'll leave behind bikinis beer guts and tattoos--and that's just on a grandmother I saw on the elevator this morning--for Las Vegas! It was cheaper to fly directly from SC than to go home to OH for a day/night. So an extra day in everyone's favorite city.

I'm in a slot tournament on Fri and Sat at Mirage. I'm also a 50-some year old professional man pounding on the button of a slot machine for 15 mins while my wife yells sarcastic words of encouragement or chastises me--NOT sacastically--if I begin to fall behind the person next to me.

A week or so ago another poster did a live report of his tourney run at NYNY that was enjoyable to read and I did one a couple of years ago too. So live report from the Mirage tournament here I come!

Back to my conference though for now. Dinner w favorite customer tonight, fishing w my OTHER favorite customer tomorrow then karaoke (I do a mean Elvis) tomorrow night. For now I'll try to concentrate on trying to figure out what that guy's talking about 5 feet from me on the podium.

NOTwheelingisland, I'm playing in this tournament as well and pretty much feel the same way you do while I'm at work this week. I fly out Thursday morning for the promise land of Vegas. Good luck in the tourney!

Thanks! I think there are at least one or two other board members who commented on another thread who will be there. We'll try to sweep the podium and make our fellow VMBers proud!

As an aside at our final (FINALLY!!) conference event tonight I won a Kindle Fire HDX...precursor or have used up all my luck???

Wheels up from Myrtle Beach in the morning 10ish through ATL with arrival 3ish in the Promised Land (channeling my inner Elvis--although technically he was taking about LA I think).

Gate agent just said we'll get into LV at 3:08 and it will be an hour fifteen min flight (from ATL). Score! Well OBVIOUSLY she's wrong; it's a 2 hour flight right? :) Regardless here we go!!

Just got on the plane. Paid for Delta's Economy Plus & didn't realize it but have the seat w none in front. Stretch city!! Smallish wife in the middle. Then large very athletic guy in isle seat. I know I should offer to swap seats w him. Can you PLAN karma? IE will switching w him help me in the tourney? Hmm what to do...

Ok in my mind I have a "fair" plan. I'm not exactly small so I will offer part way through the flight to change. Half-karma. Doors closed. Cross check.

Here! Landed a few minutes early...nice. We almost always fly SW but since we came from the east coast it was Delta. Flight was fine and it took about 20 mins of waiting for luggage. As to the young fellow he was a recent grad of LSU (as a proud Buckeye I didn't hold that against him) and it was his first flight. So I switched with him and it was really neat to see how excited he was to look out the window. LOTS of video was taken. ;) He is out here for work.

We have a rental car and I didn't want it to be charged to my company card so I didn't use my normal agency with express options. It was HORRIBLE! We were over an hour. It's not worth getting into but it was very sad to stand in line and see the woes and misery of some folks in front of us. Hopefully it worked out for them. As an aside there was a young lady also from LSU in line in front of us (NOT the one w woes). I googled her name as it was on her luggage (yes my wife DID think that was creepy!) and she is a hotshot softball player for the Tigers. She's out w other college kids for a softball tourney working for Louisville Slugger as an intern.

FINALLY got the car and headed to the Mirage. Took LV Blvd and at 5pm minimal traffic. Dropped car at valet--we're going into the mountains tomorrow hence the car. No line at check in. Asked about any upgrades and the fellow got us up on the 23rd fl overlooking the strip and down the hall, which we like. They're covering an extra night for "free" so I didn't complain about not being on the 24-25 floors. I said thanks and gave him a $20.

In room now putting feet up for a bit then off we'll go!! Hopefully more exciting reports later tonight!!

    Good luck to everyone.

While the tournament doesn't start until Friday I'm exercising my wrists ahead of time. Had a couple of nice hits and then gave most of it back. Found a Willy Wonka that was fun and made some on Ultimate X poker playing ten hands. Actually even/up a bit till my wife decided to go to bed then the wheels came off...down about $400. Buts it's early right?

The format will be two rounds each day and each day stands alone. Additionally they'll give away $100 free play during ea session randomly as well as 50k Shopping points.

Finally arrived. My flight was delayed 6 hours today. At least there was no line to register for the tournament tonight. I grabbed a water and wine before hitting the casino floor.

Glad you made it in! The format is 2 stand alone tournaments. Each day you play 2 15 minute rounds. I'm at 12 and 4 ea day. Top prize each day is $25K, $10K for second, some other $$ for 3rd then varying amounts of free play till last place which is $250. Then repeat on Sat. There were lots of folks signing up. I'm icing my wrist and doing various mental exercises. Hopefully this time tomorrow night MrGVegas, I and other VMBers will have played well on the first day.

As to gambling tonight...we had an incredible dinner at Lake Side at Wynn. Truly good food in a great setting. Gambled our way back to the Mirage. Biggest hit was $145 at Palazzo. Not much good to report from the Mirage either. Down about $500 for the trip.

We took a side trip to the Red Rock area today. Beautiful. Went to Spring Mountain Ranch and Bonnie Ranch. One extreme to the other with those 2 places!! Then stopped by Red Rock casino--nice place.
