So DH and I are heading to Vegas Sept. 29-Oct. 2nd...and I'm so friggin excited I can't stand it..

When I first started talking about going, it was going to be a January trip and DH and I were considering the Bellagio since we've never stayed there..

BUT due to his work schedule we had to move it up to late September and I decided I'd rather spend the higher hotel costs on "other things"...:evillaugh

My sister and I stayed at Bally's last trip and loved the location - DH and I have stayed at NYNY & Paris and we prefer mid-strip..

When I first booked the room 6 weeks ago the 4 nights were like $247 (not including taxes & fees). I check my TR account constantly - mainly b/c I'm doing Social Rewards and shopping through the TR Marketplace and I've earned just over $160 in TR Credits! BUT I've also been checking for lower rates..

and boy have they been dropping!!

I've managed to re-book this hotel stay at Bally's 4 times!! When I originally booked it they required a $70 deposit - so the first time I re-booked it they cancelled it and refunded the $70 and then charged me $52...the last 3 times I had them adjust the price they've done it without touching the deposit..since I've changed my room and re-booked through the 1-800 number my reservation can no longer be changed on line so I have to call each time.

Last night I checked and I'm now down to COMPED rooms the first 2 night and $20 each night for the next 2 - my DH looked at me and rolled his eyes and said "you know they're going to put us in a crap room"...:rolleyes2:

I'm planning on trying the $20 trick for a Jubilee room, but I'll just be glad to be there!!

So, I basically just wanted to say that if you book at a higher price, check the room rates and don't be afraid to call and speak with an agent to get it changed - every time I have called they have been fabulous!!

Well done! I just reserved for November at PH and the price dropped literally while I was making the reservation. But you have inspired me to check again.

Bally's is a much underrated property. I've stayed there three times (it's my go-to property for "boys trips"). Even if you wind up in the so-called Indigo Tower, the rooms are just fine and you can't beat the price. I'd bet you will have a good shot at getting that Jubilee upgrade, though.

Have fun and enjoy the anticipation!

BTW--let you DH there really aren't any 'crap' rooms at Ballys anymore!!:peace:The north tower was redone 10 years ago in nice neutrals & Jubilee was redone this year. I do recommend you get the Total Rewards credit card--you can get $100 in total rewards comps for spending $750 before your trip; you get 2 free passes to the High Roller, AND you will get platinum status--so that means NO resort fees for your stay (save nearly $100) PLUS they are usually pretty good at upgrading those with platinum status!!

I do the same thing--we were comped at Paris for our upcoming trip (a first!) but I realized Ballys rooms are all nicer than Paris standard room these days & Paris is stingy with upgrades. So rebooked to Ballys North Tower, comped, Figured we'd get an upgrade but OK if we don't. Then I find CP Roman Tower (yech) comped...but they are generous with the upgrades. Today Forum Tower (decent but nothing fancy) was comped, so cancelled & rebooked again! I'd love to say I'd find the Palace Tower comped, but not crossing my fingers. BUT the 2x we have been comped in Forum Tower before they have always given us Palace Tower upgrade so hopeful!

Good for you!! Congrats! It really pays to constantly check and re-check! Paris or Bally's is our home base each trip for about 13-14 years. We were in a new Jubliee room in late March & loved it. Hope you can get in that tower....try for the pool / fountain view....believe those are the un-even room numbers (sorry can't find my info that showed our room number). We are trying Flamingo for NYE - since it is right by the Linq and easy access to several casinos since it will be colder weather. Hope you have a great time!!!

wahoo!!! and the savings keep getting even better!!

so, along with the first 2 nights being COMP and the next 2 at $20 each - I've now earned enough MyVegas coins to redeem: 2 dinners at Bellagio buffet, 2 breakfasts at Bellagio, 2 Premium ticket for KA' - which I called today and got 4th row, middle front section!! and, BOGO 3-day monorail passes!!

and flights...ah..the flights - we're flying out on AA using credit card miles - and I paid out of pocked $37.17. Return flights on SW and I had enough miles to get my ticket for free, and paid $180 for DH's ticket!!

I've also got $175 in Amex gift cards to cover a dinner

I've got $160 in RCs on my TR account for dinner at Gordon Ramsay Steak

I've got $200 in gift cards for dinner at Joe's Steak & Crab

this is turning out to be a trip of savings!!

We have been booked at Harrah's for several months with the 25% off rate for August. I also decided to check back on the rate calendar for CET and found that we have 4 nights comped and the other 3 were at a lower rate. We are low rollers, so this is a nice surprise. I made sure to add my hubby's TR number to help with the cost of the room. So. . . I cancelled my reservation and rebooked at the lower rate, 7 nights for a whopping $222. I also have RCs from my TR Visa account, so eating will be free. Cha-Ching!

    Nice job!

I just booked a 5 night trip (wed-mon) flying from Chicago and staying at Vdara for $1,026 (including resort fees). I'm pretty pumped about that.

    DId it again!
We just decided to stay 7 nights instead of 4...
First called & tried to book 5 nights comped at Caesars (done) but then I was getting crappy rates at Ballys over the weekend. Ballys was showing comped Friday & $56 Saturday...but CET only allows 5 days in a row of comps, SOOOO changed it to 3 nights comped at Caesars then the 2 at Ballys. THEN I used 2 nights at Aria comped using myVegas (and those babies are gone so I was really glad to use them!!)
$116 TOTAL (fees, taxes, resort fees) for 7 nights--hoping to score upgrades due to the fact that this trip is for our 20 year anniversary--and we were married in Vegas!!

Thank you for this post! I'd been checking the Total Rewards site every couple days and was glad I booked when I did because rates only appeared to be going up! HOWEVER, this time I noticed the ability to combine my companion's Total Rewards card with my own and SUDDENLY I could upgrade from a Fab to Go room at the Flamingo AND stay there comped 10/26-11/1! I also scored a killer deal at the Quad for 10/25. Since it's about 5 days before their unveiling as The Linq Hotel and Casino, I'm assuming the rooms will be remodeled and it will practically be a new hotel by then. Lord knows they're already charging newer hotel rates!

I have a renewed sense of excitement about my upcoming trip. :drunk:
