Planning to visit Las Vegas in late January. Need advice on weather and what clothing to bring. Are capris ok, or mostly just jeans and slacks?
Everything you wanted to know about Vegas weather brought to you by your friendly VMB NOAA dude. http://www.wrh.noaa.gov/vef/climate/LasVegasClimateBook/index.php
It depends on the weather you're used to I guess. My SoCal friends all think it's freezing in Vegas in January, but I wear capris in the casinos because I think they keep their heat too high. At night, especially if the wind is blowing, it can be downright cold. You'll want a jacket and long pants for outside time at night. One December we were watching the temperature sign at Binions (I think) from our room at MSS and were watching it count down to zero (Celsius). I fell asleep at 1 degree and missed it.
Compared to your area in New York, it'll be warm(er). It's the same for me going to Las Vegas from Salt Lake City. It's always warmer in LV and I wear jeans, a long sleeved shirt and a jacket. One of the reasons I hang out in LV during the Winter is for the warmer weather there. Bill
Could be warm or it could snow, it snowed when I was there in December a few years ago. Wait until a few days before you leave and check the forecast to know what to pack.
