I've enjoyed my stays at Trop (3 since the remodel) in a Paradise suite. The pool area is very nice and cabana rentals don't require a second mortgage. There's a minimum food/beverage spent required, no cabana fee and the minimum can be negotiated if they aren't completely booked. I like the Cafe and Biscayne. The food court selections are minimal. We always enjoy having a few afternoon drinks at the lounge bar where Thomas makes THE best mojito!!

    Odds and ends

What about a buffet at Tropicana? They have one? Anyone tried it?...I'm not a big buffet fan (I cannot eat my price in crab legs or prime rib, but I do like an afternoon or evening buffet every now and then).
What about the Tropicana Players Card (or whatever they call it)---Do they offer some free casino play when you sign up?
I cannot remember---How far is Tropicana from the nearest Walgreens?
One more question---I understand Krave moved near Tropicana---Where's Krave in comparsion to Tropicana?

We stayed there a couple years ago and found the hotel stay pleasant, what we liked was that it felt pretty 'cosy' although some may feel it's 'too' small. The poker room at the time was the friendliest I've ever encountered in Vegas, they even gave out complimentary soft drinks and water in a fridge at the back. Sadly this room is now closed, probably due to the lack of traffic I'd guess.

So, anyone stayed here lately? I'm still unsure if I made the right choice (the Online reviews are so extreme---either thought it was heaven or hell---no middle ground).
I still need some Tropicana feedback.

    What the hell!

Oh, I'll definitely post a review of the Tropicana when I return in June :licklips:
My hotel needs are basic---comfortable, clean room; working TV; desk and chair; nice bathroom; and a bed. I've had some amazing suites at Caesars, a GO Room at the Flamingo, and an upgrade room at Ballys. All stays were comped. This is the first time I am paying for a room in Sin City.
The reviews I've read of the Tropicana are so extreme (I am suspect of some of the reviews; some people tend to rant and bash the Tropicana due to minor stuff---didn't get a free cookie, the walk to the room was too far, the pool was closed, the front desk clerk wasn't smiling. Come on, don't be so damn petty)
Anyway, since I want to explore Mandalay Bay, Excalibur, Luxor, New York-New York, MGM, and the southend this trip, the Tropicana just seemed to draw me.

I stayed at the Trop last August, for a conference. We usually stay at the MC and enjoyed something different. We enjoyed our time there- we're headed to Vegas with family in May (back at MC), but our next trip will be back to the Trop. Smallish casino (not a bad thing), nice staff. Haven't eaten there (other than conference food)- but we enjoyed it. My husband won in the HL room on Deal/ No Deal. :)

We also liked that the walking bridges connected you to MGM and NYNY (across LV blvd).

There's also a groupon for Bacio right now, too.

    Vegas in June

As you already expect, it can get hot in June. Others have posted about staying hydrated and that is VERY important. I have been there in the summer several times and although I love it hot, it was extreme. I found that wearing loose clothing with long sleeves and long pants was sometimes better than letting the sun beat on my skin. Even with sunscreen the sun can get to me.

Also, any casino or restaurant you enter will have the air conditioning pumping and the temperature difference can make it seem downright cold. So I usually had to have a sweater or a jacket with me. Of course, casual was always good in Vegas. So just a few things to keep in mind. Have a great time.

    Odds and ends...

Yeah, am taking shorts and short-sleeve button-down shirts and t-shirts, along with flip flops and a pair of running shoes. Am taking light colors, comfortable clothes, of course.
I expect to crash in the room by day and hit the Strip at night.
Oh yeah, what buffet do you folks prefer---MGM, Mandalay Bay, New York-New York, Luxor, Excallibur, or Monte Carlo?...I've never used my MLife card, should I use it when I dine at one of their buffets? I apologize, but I am all new to MLife (I'm a Total Rewards player). :faint:

I've never stayed at the Trop but I love their Casino floor. It's bright, which is a nice change from the usual. Also, they have a dealer bust blackjack game, where you can do a 2-1 sidebet that the dealer busts. So if you did like a $10 ante plus a $5 sidebet, even if you bust and the dealer busts, you break even. I made $300 in like 20 minutes last time I played it. I'll definitely give those tables another try on my next trip.

    Xposed

This is interesting, the Tropicana will be throwing Xposed---a LGBT pool party---every Saturday.
Now, I definitely will pack a pair of my trunks (I hadn't originally planned on hitting the pool). :licklips:

Why not stay use your 5 free nights at a CET property and then move to the Trop for the other 6 nights? It would save you some money and give you the chance to directly compare the CET experience with your Trop experience.

DH loves this casino & the decor. 'm not big on a south beach vibe in vegas...as in if I want to do south beach i'll go there. Since we're currently @ MC which isn't exactly heavily themed, reconsidering to keep better half happy.

OP what sort of rate did you find for your dates?

Are you a Hilton honors member? was hoping they might have a combo points + cash rate, don't see it though.

the best rate I can scrounge up for early August (a Thursday & Friday) is higher than I'd want to pay for the standard - almost $140 per night after the resort fee & taxes.:faint: fyi, $5 more a night & there's a promo for two reserved chairs by the pool & 2 drinks per stay.

    Who's the blonde stranger?

Since I do Key West a couple times a year, I definitely prefer a south beach theme.
With resort fees, taxes and fees, my total for Tropicana comes to roughly $108.00 per night. Not bad considering I've never stayed with them before, never gambled with them before, and don't even have their players card. I'm happy with the rate.

OK...wife and I stayed there (comped) over christmas break 2013...we stayed in the "Club" tower...MAN! One HELLUVA hike from EVERYTHING else!
If you can, get a room in the PARADISE TOWER! It's MUCH closer.
We actually had TWO free nights there, but only stayed ONE because it was SUCH a long hike!

I spent 2 nights of my trip a few weeks ago at Trop. It had been a couple years since I stayed there. I'm going back to Vegas at the end of the month and am spending 3 of my 7 nights at Trop (comped on fight weekend).

There is a small "buffet" at the Beach Cafe for breakfast and lunch. Very small, not a typical Vegas buffet, but everything is fresh and good. Oddly the tab for lunch came in under breakfast (perhaps due to our beverage choices). It's a but pricey but very good.

I always get a Paradise Tower suite and I like them. You come off the elevator and you're steps from the strip. They have remodelled the poolside rooms and now have some poolside villas. Would really like to try one of those if I can get it comped.

There is live entertainment in The Trop lounge every night and the band was very good. The crowd has gotten younger since my last visit. The hotel seems to be very GLBT friendly.

The food selections are minimal for "low end". I'm not a fiord court person but Trop's us pretty pathetic from what I saw (didn't eat at anything in the food court).

The pool is really nice.....it is one of my favourite pool areas. You definitely have to spend some time there. The Beach Cafe does offer outdoor seating.

For a long stay like yours, I'd be tempted to split the stay just due to location, perhaps something more central for part of your stay.
