Say you and 2 friends go to Vegas. Everyone brings 1k for gambling. You end up winning 5k and your other 2 friends loose 1k.

Do you give your friends money for their loss from gambling (give each friend 1k out of your 5k winnings)?

Unless I had some deal pre-arranged with them, where we split all wins/loses (which, BTW, I would never do), HELL NO! I may buy them dinner the last night, or a bus ticket home if they had no other way to get there, but that's about it.

In return, I also would never expect or accept winnings from a friend because I lost.

Absolutely not......that is crazy. And if they truly are your friends, they wouldn't expect you to give them money.

I don't give them money, but I will let them borrow money if they want to keep playing. Like someone else said, I will pay for dinner.

I tithe. If I won $500 and you lost, I'll spend $50 buying us beers. That's it, though.

Drinks or dinner but certainly not a cash gift.

Sometimes. Never huge amounts. But the point of Vegas is to have fun. And if I am up a lot and my friends are sullen from losing, I sometimes throw a little their way.

Like some others mentioned no cash transfer between friends, but dinner and/or drinks purchased by the big winner is not out of the norm.

Our last trip with friends I was extremely lucky. Treated everyone to the Buffet at Cosmopolitan and took my close friend for a SPA day at Aria. Bought dinner for the group another night (50Pizza at Aria). Nothing extravagant - might throw a 20 or two in the machine for my friend and see if I can share my luck.. but I would never split winnings unless we went in together on a machine with an agreement to split wins. On a trip a few years ago a friend and I each put $20 into a machine that has a Must hit by $500.. it was sitting around $480 and we had lots of lurkers wanting the machine. We agreed if we got up to $100 we would split.. we had it up to $96 when we hit the Major. Was a great time.. and we enjoyed playing together!

Never. Like others, I would just expect to be picking up the tab on more drinks and food if I knew they were down and I was up during the trip...and I'd be more than happy to do that.

We use the 10% rule. Wins of over $100 above your buy in are shared with all other players at 10% of that win ammount. In the long run it about comes out even, and takes a little of the sting out of the losses for the others.

My last trip I was having really good luck and my friend was having the opposite. I bought a handful of meals until his luck turned around. He still had cash and didn't ask for anything but I was up and was spending the houses money.

Of course our previous trip I decided to bust my bankroll the day before we left and he bought me a few meals so you can look at it like I was just retuning the favor.

Same friend, he gave me half of a slot win and I returned the favor with half of a poker tournament score. We now have a pre arranged agreement to give 10% of any win over 5k. To date neither have us have had that large of a win however.

Its no longer gambling if you're getting your losses reimbursed. But I think the winner picking up the tab for dinner/drinks/lap-dances is the cool thing to do.

Guess I'm in the minority here, but I usually would. If I want to hardcore gamble, which I do from time to time, then I'll do it alone. If I'm with a bunch of mates and hit it big the I'll try find a way to spread the love.

That being said, handing over lumps of cash is a bit awkward. As an example in my upcoming visit were I to win and my mates lose, I'd pick up the hotel room.

I agree with all of you.

I have gone to Vegas with a friend before where we use to pool our bankroll. It ended working for both of us since we broke even.

I consider gambling as an investment such as real estate, stock market, etc. If my friend and I buy stocks, I make money and my friend looses, I would not pay him since he loss. I would expect the same vice versa.

My wife is this way with her 2 sisters. In the old days they'd just grab money outta her slot tray, now they actually have to ask, but it doesn't bother her and it's only a couple times a year so I keep my trap shut.

On a $5K win I'd probably give my friends $50-100 depending on how nice im feeling.

When I am with friends out drinking / gambling at either a local Indian casino or even at the local bar with those awful machines. If I win I buy as much as I can. They do the same thing when they get struck with dumb luck. We're talking about a 500 dollar win here not thousands but still. We are friends for a reason.. When we go to dinner with each others wifes its who ever gets to the tab first to pick it up. No ones rich and really even well off but we all are not standing around with our hands out expecting the other one to pay. I have acquaintances I would never pick up a drink for even if winning large but friends its not even a question.
