a couple years ago, i saw a 70s band playing at the Venetian at a lounge where you could play slots and still hear and see the band they were great, a long time ago when the MGM had the Monkey Bar they used to get bands playing there, but lately i have not found these bands in the casinos, so who is still having them play in the gaming area and how do you find out who is where

Was really disappointed this last trip a few weeks back to find that the Venetian had ditched its live band bar for an expensive bourbon bar with massive video screens. The place was predictably deserted.

The Orleans also seemed to have done away with live bands, at least during mid-week when I was there.

The Hard Rock has some interesting live entertainment at the HRH Tower bar.

Mandalay Bay can have as many as three bands - Mizuya Lounge (usually rock band), Orchid Lounge (more traditional lounge music), and sometimes THElounge (light/small jazz band)

Both Paris and Bally's have bands at least on the weekends. Paris had a band on Thursday last summer once.

They will sometimes have a band at Planet Ho on the stage toward the north side of the casino. It seems like this is off more than on lately.

Sams Town had a surprisingly good Motown type band on one of the last trips.

The bands on the street downtown can often times be very good!

The rock band that used to play at the now defunct La Scena lounge at the Venetian was the Monroy band. The band is still around (same lead singer, some new band members). They usually plays at Planet Hollywood's Xtra Lounge on Mondays and Tuesdays and downtown on Freemont Street on Fridays. I also saw them on a Sunday night at Paris.

The Venetian made a big mistake when they converted the La Scena lounge into the Bourbon Room. The place used to be packed every night, standing room only, and now it's dead.

there was a band called clockwork that played at both the fontana lounge at bellagio and at the mirage. i really miss the fontana lounge, and playing vp at the bar just outside, the back bar of that vp bar was a curtain that curved around that part of the fontana, while inside they had big double doors opening out onto the fountains. classy, and i thought all the late afternoon bands they had were good, diana diaz, clockwork...do not recall the others.

I also miss the Fontana Bar. Two of my favorite places to hang out and catch a good band are now gone, LaScena and Fontana. I'm sure Hyde paid Bellagio a sweet sum of money for that prime space but once again the customers lose out.

I wonder when these corporations do these deals if they take into account the amount they lose in gaming. It's a young crowd that hangs out at Hyde. Yes, they will pay outrageous amounts for bottle service but how many of them will frequent the casino? People in my age group like to hear a good band, then when the band takes a break, go do some gambling in the casino. It made for a nice night at the Fontana Bar with the band, fountain shows and casino all right there.

I managed to catch Daniel Park at the Onyx Bar at Red Rock last summer. He's still doing it Fri and Sat nights, I think it's 8pm-2am. Does Lilly at Bellagio on Tuesdays and back to the Rocks Lounge with a full band on Thursday nights.

He was up here in the NW a few months ago and we went and saw him. Tons of talent and he just keeps getting busier.

We miss the Fontana Room so much. Was a must do on every trip. Loved Dian Diaz and her band. Enjoyed the dancing, the music and rushing out on the balcony to see the fountain show. There are now very few venues like the Fontana Room. The Indigo Lounge at Bally's doesn't match but similar vibe and groups there. The Paris Cabaret Room has live bands some nights. Phoenix band is good rock cover band and plays at Mandalay Bay on weekends.

If anyone knows of other lounges with good bands, on or off strip, please post here.
