    Day Two, Final Update:

Overall, a very good evening so far. Took a short break and then decided to walk over to PHo to cash some sports tickets. Found out they are not offering odds on NBA season win totals. Sucko. And cantor gaming (aka Cosmo) is only offering it on a couple big market teams. Need to go to Mandalay Bay at some point to cash some more tickets, so maybe I will see what MGM is offering.

After walking back from PHo, I stopped in the high limit for a quick shoe and it was fantastic. There were enough banker runs for me to get back to even and actually up a couple hundred bucks! Yes!!! But the good fortune did not end there.

I next met up with Max and BigHead. Good guys. We all shared a few drinks and we gave BigHead a tour of the talon room. After a little more wagering, we all split up. I went back to the high limit and proceeded to get crushed on a bac table. There were never more than two bankers in a row, and most of the time it was just one. Add in a bunch of three and four player runs and I got crushed. Dropped 15k of the money I had gambled so hard to get back today. :grrr:

But quitters never win, which is why the casinos like me so much. But maybe not tonight. I find a good BJ table in the back of the room and three shoes later, I get back the 15k plus about 8 more! So I'm up and basically back where I started last night before the BJ debacle. Taking a break now and deciding between rest, more gambling, or maybe something more low key like vid poker. Already bought my tickets for the early NFL games tomorrow (Bears +1 is my favorite wager), so I could play late and sleep in. We shall see. But by any measure, today was an excellent day of gambling!

Sorry, didn't check my phone. Went downstairs to the talon room for a little while longer and then shot craps until 2am. I will be back down there this morning, probably in an hour if you head back to the Strip.

And Max, hope you and your buddy had a good time at Marque or whatever other trouble you got into. I will be at Aria next month. Come back out if you can. if so, I will sleep the entire first day to adjust to your nocturnal schedule :poke:

Great guys. it was fun meeting you all

    Day Three, Morning Update:

So as I mentioned in my last quick post, I went back downstairs last night and hot the casino for a little more moolah. This morning I grabbed a quick snack for breakfast and sat at the BJ table in the talon room. Decent run and I won another 5k. After that, I decided to go back to my room and tabulate where I am at. I am up just over 20k! Which basically means I had a 33k swing that got me down by the end of Day One and now I have had a 45k swing to get up that much. Crazy. And very happy the swing is in my favor at the moment!

The plan for the rest of the day is some more gambling and NFL bets. Games start in a few minutes. My favorite early bet is bears +1. I also have the Patriots -3.5, Tampa under 43, and the Bengals under 47.

A quick note about the Cosmo sportsbook. Its Cantor gaming, which I don't really like in general (the books are so sterile to me). But the one at Cosmo is pathetic. Its pretty small and there is just no energy in there. I have never seen a vegas sportsbook on an NFL sunday so empty. Half an hour before the games start and there were maybe a dozen people in there. maybe more people were downstairs wagering at book and stage, but this was pathetic. Cosmo is definitely not the place to go if you wan an energetic sportsbook.

    More updates later

Quick update. Sitting on the plane so more to come

What an amazing night from what I can remember. Max and UK are awesome guys.

Night started out at stage and book with Max for a few drinks playing a little vp and watching the baseball game. After a few text messages to UK he finally came to meet us. We then proceed to the high limit room. I got introduced to titos vodka. Max bought then left it open as he went to change clothes. I tried to save in some louis 13 $1,000 shots as a joke. UK went to play a quick shoe and I sat next to time. Maybe I was his good luck charm. No I did not say that. He was kind enough for me to take a quick picture of some high dollar chips. Another round at the bar and I was good to go.

Max came back dressed to the nines and they took me up to the Talon room. After the secret knock to get in which they would not tell me I did some sightseeing around the room. That place is amazing!! And way over my head. We eventually found. Roulette table at $100 a spin. Since I did not have much cash I got a $1,000 marker to play. Both the pit and Max I am sure looked at me like seriously. I am sure they tip out more than that. A couple spins just betting red or black and left down a few hundred. Gets kind of hazy from here.

Think Max left to do his thing and Uk wanted to play something else so we split up. I ended up playing at a $15 BJ table on the main floor. A slow drain after an hour or so. I tried to meet up with UK again but I think he had enough of my drunken shenagins or maybe he was making huge money in the HL room. Headed back to rio. Don't remember the cab ride but since I woke up in the rio somehow I got back to home base.

Max and UK are great guys. Thanks again for the ride and showing me the sites!!

I do not. I am friendly with my hosts, but I wouldn't say I am particularly close friends with any of them. Its not a personal relationship whatsoever, so I don't bring them gifts or tips the same as I would not expect any of my clients to do that for me.

    Day Three Afternoon Update:

    I am sloshed. Be warned

Met up with a friend for lunch at Milos. Very good food! The meal was filling, but the portions were the perfect size. Overall a very good experience. The friend and I caught up and had a good time.

She wanted a drink be3fore departing, so we hit up the talon room so I could play BJ while they brought us some booze. I discovered Titos vodka on this trip. Very good stuff, very smooth.

After about half an hour my friend left, but I stayed. And the damn casino kept plying me with alcohol (not that I was complaining much). So now I am three sheets to the wind and down 8k from that session. But I am still up over 20k for the trip.

Obviously my morning NFL wagers did not go well. I had an o-fer! Long time since that happened. And all of the afternoon lines moved before I could place my bets, making them less attractive (although I wish I had still jumped on San Fran at -3; loved it at -4 and should have bet that on Friday, grrrrrrr :grrr:) Still have Denver -6 later. We shall see.

The red bull vodkas have me energized and tipsy, so I think I will make the sojourn down to Mandalay Bay to cash some sports bets and see what is going on. I think bighead and max are already gone, but if anyone else is in vegas sees me stumbling down LVB in the next couple of hours, please keep me upright

    More later (hopefully)

Your gift to your hosts was Bighead. HA. Only person ever to take a 1,000 marker in the Talon room. You have to admit that was funny

Hi, UKFanatic! I don't think you have to go all the way to Mandalay to cash your sports ticket. You should be able to do that at other MGM properties. I remembered I a couple of years back I was able to cash a sports book of one of the MGM properties at a sister property. Maybe you should check to see if they still do that. That way you don't have to go all the way to Mandalay Bay, unless you had planned to anyway. Cheers!

I'm back at work in NY.

After leaving the Talon club, we went to main pit Roulette. I quickly lost another 1k marker. I left to find my ID which was up in the room and came back down. After BSing with another play who is in the same line
of aviation work I left, after he hit 3 $500 splits on #23.

Went back up to Talon and my buddy lost his promo chips on BJ.
I then decided to play one hand at $500 and won. We had dinner
at Milos, 1k bill for the two of us and left. Went to Marquee for a
bit, nothing doing. Hit the table and had a nice swing, made 7k back.
Ended up going back to the room with TWO smoking hot chicks I know,
You can all use your imaginations there but yeah that happened. (10s. Greg will vouch for this ). Not a bad birthday present to myself. Regardless, my head wasnt in it due to the situation with my girlfriend (now ex girlfriend) back at home. Played some craps and I did a little shopping, ate a few bites at china polbano and hit the tables for one last smack. Got slaughtered, big loss overall for trip, hit maybe 2 30's the entire trip. Had the pit call me a limo and I bounced. Major issues with my rating, my time and ratings were pretty much 50% of what they should have been. I was PISSED and had it out with the casino manager. Prob wont be going back to Cosmo unless they
make some real deal effort to fix my gripes.

Greg got a real kick out of the Talon room and all that jazz, funny dude.
Uk is solid and I enjoyed hanging with him. However, we run
on opposite schedules. I party and gamble 4-12am every tip without fail, he sleeps. What can I say, hes an adult lol Maybe ill get there one day.

Anyways, all and all was a fun weekend. Glad to finally have met some board members. That was my last trip for the year but who knows. Hope to meet some more of you down the road.

I will vouch for Max he is the real deal. Thanks for showing me how the other side gambles. Hope I did not embarrass you to much.

What about a trip nov 15-18. UFC Title fight that sat night in Vegas plus a lot of board members will be around. Let the twisting of the arm start. HA

I still owe the Talon room 1K for that marker. Hope I can remember the secret knock to get in and pay my debt off.

nice trip guys, really enjoyed the 3-pronged reporting, it has been a great read. I hope you are looking forward to taking out a $50 marker at Golden Gate "Hangnail High Limit Lounge" (as opposed to Talon) with us low-rollers Greg!
