Warnings - Taking Pictures in Casino's

Just the other day I had a grand opportunity to meet and chat with One of the Top Guys in the Casino Industry. That was Awesome! But not for good reasons.

I was informed about something I thought was Harmless, I took a Picture inside the Casino and Posted it on the forum not realizing the affect on Security and Privacy of the Casino. I would like to offer my deepest apologies to the Casino for not realizing how important it is and removed the Picture.

DO NOT TAKE PICTURES in the Casino.

It's usually just common sense...
Don't take pix of the casino cage, or other vital money locations (ie: robbery hotspots)

 

my buddy took a picture of a big hand he won with two splits and two doubles at ceasars last week and they didnt care,he asked them first and they said go ahead.

 

I took a Picture of a Baccarat Scoreboard. Lesson learned, Never again. I deleted all my iPhone pics just to be safe.

 

Tightness or lack thereof regarding photos inside the casino seems to be on what casino you're in and how tight their security is. However, Tim is right, snapping a pic of the cashier's cage is a definite no-no.

Most also frown on pics of any table games as well. More from an identity protection angle than anything.

 

What was the picture of? There are prohibitions against taking pics in casinos, but it happens all the times and there are literally many thousands of pics online showing the interior of casinos (last march, a dealer and floor supervisor in the MB high limit even helped me stage a picture of a large bet I had just won). So I'm curious what kind of picture would warrant that attention? Thanks

 

I took a Picture of the Baccarat Scoreboard, but the background showed Cameras and such.

 

JMO, but as I said earlier, it's a customer identity issue....someone you don't know in a picture that is gambling. Wouldn't be too cool to get a pic of "Joe the married banker" in Vegas gambling the bank's embezzled money away with a hooker on his arm.:evillaugh I know, poor example, but that's one of the main reasons.

 

Ha screw that. I'll take pictures if I want and post them here if I feel like it. I'm sure the casino would be able to survive this "security breach."

 

Steve Wynn doesnt like folks taking pictures of him bitch slapping hookers in the Wynn lobby. Just saying...

 

Freedom of speech in public forums is one thing but please keep it Professional and try to respect the Casino's point of view.

 

From time to time, pit bosses have even been kind enough to take our picture sitting at the BJ table. They've even placed huge stacks of chips in our betting circle (their idea) – just for the photo - unfortunately.

I don't know if it's still there, but there's a sign by the security desk in the Four Queens stating that taking pictures in the casino is okay, though I believe it requests respecting the privacy of their guests.

Personally, I have bigger things to worry about than possibly committing an indiscretion by taking a picture! I mean, what's the worst thing that could happen – they'd shoot me?

 

I am an avid amateur photographer. Over many years (decades) I've asked and kind of kept notes on what's permissible in what casino. I always ask a uniformed security officer or a "suit" to be sure I'm getting the real policy.

It varies from property to property. I've gotten answers all over the spectrum from a flat-out "no" (Green Valley Ranch) to a "just be considerate", and "you really aren't supposed to, but ..." and several who say no tables but the slot area is fine.

At the old Stardust, the guard gave me a long war story about how the cage was smoke-bombed and robbed, so if they see you shooting the cage they will confront, but he ended up standing there with me as I shot things like the showroom entrance and such.

At the Rio, the guard took me for a "guided tour" of what could and could not be shot.

One of the only times I was actively confronted was right before the Westward Ho closed. I was shooting the exterior, ducked inside and raised the camera to my eye, and the guard came over and very apologetically asked me not to shoot inside.

The best opportunity I got to actually shoot a casino in action was the night the Frontier closed. A number of the shots are on line here:

Security guard-"sir, I have a guy taking a picture. What should I do?" Casino Boss-"for god sakes, SHOOT HIM!"

 

I would bet you got some whale in the photo and he got PISSED...
Otherwise, they won't care...
Hell, I've taken a DIRECT SHOT of a roulette board (had hit green FOUR IN A ROW!!) and no one even batted an eye.

 

That makes sense. Which casino? Vegas and Tunica is where I primarily play and I have never seen the security cameras behind a bac board from any angle (unless, I guess, I am lying on the floor, lol)

 

Its the camears they dont like photgraphed. i took a picute of the camera on the elevator at the el cortez and had a special group of visitors waiting for me when I got off of it.

I thought it was funny because I had been drinking and the camera was big and old timey looking, not little like in fancier places.

they didnt seem to find the humor in it.

It took alot of explaining to them what i was up to and they finally gave up and let me go.

 

I actually took a picture of a dealer, who was waving hello to me, behind the bj table she was dealing at which I was playing at. BUT I WAS NOT ALLOWED TO EAT A GRANOLA BAR AT THE BJ TABLE

Then I took a picture ( at another property) of my sister sitting at a bj table across the pit from me.

Nobody seemed to care. Both were at cet properties 2 years ago...

 

The no photo and no video rule is only policy though as I understood it. I don't believe there are any legal issues, otherwise I would never have gotten eye in the sky approval to take photos of a travelocity gnome on an empty Wynn craps table.

 

It's individual or corporate casino policy. I've seen signs at Vegas casinos that say feel free to take photographs.
