Stations or Boyd Buffets?

I have not found Stations to be superior to Gold Coast, MMS, or Orleans.
What do you think and why?

 

I found Green Valley Ranch and Red Rock buffets better than MSS, Orleans and Gold Coast. Better quality food and the buffets are nicer inside too. Palace Station - its not nearly as good as GVR and RR in the Station brand.

I do like GC, MSS and Orleans too - they are a good value and better proximity than GVR and RR.

 

Maybe I'm crazy, but isn't there a price difference between the Palace, Sunset and Boulder Stations of the world and RR and GVR? For the money, I've always appreciated the Feast buffets at the lesser of the Station Casinos.

At the same time, I would like to try the nicer ones too.

 

We found the food to be better at Fremont than MSS. Yes, MSS has the bigger selection but the food doesn't have as much flavor.

 

Station's buffets are superior to Boyd's. I've eaten at numerous of both over the years and did not even have to ponder the question before giving a definitive answer.
Both offer value, but Station's selection and quality set them apart.

 

I just try to figure the math when eating at buffets.

There of course is a mark up, all places have them so lets assume that the mark up is 50%.

So if it costs $20 for the buffet, the raw materials including labor and rent is $10.

How much can you really get for $10 even if you are buying it whole sale?

You simply cant make a saddle into a ribeye no matter how hard you pound it.

Now how many suppliers are there for buffets? Probably one or two that have been doing it for years.

So the reason the food tastes the same is that they pretty much are getting it from the same place.

They might prepare it differently but thats about it.

 

I have not eaten at the RR buffet or the GV buffet. So they were not in my analysis.

 

I love Redrock and Sunset Station. I think GVR is way over priced for the quality of food.

Also The orleans buffet is the worst. YUK!

 

I would rate the buffet at Red Rock a little ahead of the buffet at the Fremont. But I like them both. We tend to do the buffet more frequently at Fremont because we stay downtown, and don't always make it out to RR.

I wouldn't even rank MSS or Orleans. Both are terrible.
